As you’ve said before, we technically always could carry them in PA. I’ve carried my Benchmade 62 in a pouch on my belt a lot. That one’s my prized possession. I also have a genuine Filipino handmade one which is pretty valuable. Another highly collectible one I have is a Hackman Finland. Not the most flippable one as it was mainly intended for utilitarian purposes. Though some people hate them, I actually like Bear & Sons balisongs a lot. They’re made in the US, affordable, and come with warranties. Also like the Bear Ops and Bradley Kimura lines.
Huh never knew people didn't like Bear & Sons, i bought one of their Balisongs probably 5+ years ago lol its heavy but fun to flip, really trains the knuckles and has nice loud clacks, I've dropped it and abused it and its still going, would definitely spend another 40-60$ without a doubt, one of the best beginner/beater flippers out there
You got me into balisongs so many years ago, I’ve been watching for probably over a decade. I just got a Smallfly 2 as I’ve never been able to get the original Smallfly. I’m so excited and I’ll let you know how it is when it arrives.

I am very proud of the few Balisongs I have collected over the years: Prometheus Design Werx Ti Invictus Benchmade 48S Kershaw Lucha Bradley Kimura Natural G10 Taylor Cutlery Golden Dragon (small) I really enjoy the ones that feature a pocket clip. I’m kicking myself for not picking up a Benchmade Morpho when I had the opportunity a few years ago haha. But! I’m happy with the first one I ever got-- a golden dragon with brass handles; a gift from a dear family member. I first learned to flip with it.

What are you thoughts on the new balisong resurgence going on as of late and have you handled any newer balisongs from companies like machinewise or squid industries and if so what are your thoughts on them compared to older balisongs like benchmade? I always wanted a benchmade 42 but couldnt justify the price tag and now that I've gotten into flipping balisongs i dont think i would really want one outside of collecting because of the washer construction when there are knives that are much cheaper with bushings which let you tighten the screws all the way so there is no handle play and still flip.
Very cool collection! I have a Morpho but the latch comes open way to easy in my pocket. Other than sending it in, is there any fixes? I've already tightened all the screws and that helps a little.
I carried and used (I got it for the one-hand opening, I wasn't much of a flipper) a BM International w/ the utility drop point blade until the center pin had beaten up the handles to the point were there wasn't enough tension to hold the latch in the open locking position anymore. Got a BM AFCK replacement, it had this cool thumb-hole opening thingy and had high-tech "G-10" grip scales. This dates me horribly.
2024. Logo is the Butterfly. While they have 2 models soon to come finally (they look nice) now and all of 2023 has the butterfly knife company sporting ONE model on their site. $650 dollars... it doesn’t look very pretty at all. Perhaps the worst. 400 was the m42, don’t know why they are treating a boring design as if old class. The materials are super expensive but still... butterfly stamp tax? Bought one BM and really hope I find it. It is the Azeria. Got it new for 80 bucks, was amused with myself. It is their (originally HK's) take on the Ka bar TDI pistol grip police knife but instead of the spear point blade you get a long wharncliffe where it is shaped like a reverse tanto to reinforce the point. Better blade shape for the role I believe. Looks nice. Pray to St. Anthony I find it. Losing knives is a skill of mine.

Oooooh, this is a nice surprise. I love me my Balisongs! I don't love me some Benchmades, for copyright/TM reasons. How can a company so blatantly try and own the term "butterfly knife"? It doesn't really matter. There are better brands out there for those to collect, IMO. I have to admit though, the 87 is still temping.
I wish I knew where I could trade knives. I’ve got a lot of them and honestly there’s some I’d like to maybe trade for others but idk where to go. If you or anyone could maybe help in the comments of this comment that’d be awsome. P.S. just bought a Baliyo several years after watching your review. Obviously had to go back and watch it. 😊

There are finally more utility blade balisongs out there. For a few years, they couldn't be found at all. Some are even on bearings with ti handles.

I forgot about that model was that the 42 with pocket clip and zen pins? I remember maybe it having a slightly different blade profile too
@@cutlerylover the 42-400 was limited to 110 (it says 125 but it’s 110) and had a D2 Weehawk blade with titanium handles, a pocket clip, and zen pins

You can buy trainers to flip I got a squidtrainer v4 and orion v1.5 and some others no problem. Im sure you could get a live blade if you tried
