    Only Sungazer can make 7/4 music that sounds so normal that you can even use it as a background song

      @@ertugrulkaraduman5008 there’s thousands of bands and artists who have done it. 7/4 isn’t even that weird.

    14" thin jazz hats and 22" jazz monophonic ride my faves out of this group. Meinl sure has come a long way. I have a 22" Byzance Vintage Pure light ride that I really like..excellent stick definition, dry but just enough 'wash', and it crashes well. Most of my cymbal collection is Zildjian but that Vintage Pure light ride is one of my favorite cymbals.

    • @idrumlikecrazy9802
      @idrumlikecrazy9802 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the 22 monophonic and the 22 VPLR as well. You’re absolutely right about the vintage pure. Absolutely the most fun ride cymbal to play in my opinion. It’s just so responsive.

    Hey dude, I just figured that I've never seen a video of you just genuinely nerding on cymbals/gear in general. Please keep 'em coming!
    Also, congrats for the new Meinl endorsement!

    I played Sabian HH/HHX for a decade, mostly out of habit, then I found a Meinl dark ride for 200$ on clearance at guitar center and decided I’d try it out.
    Now, 2 years later…
    Ive got the 20” EQ China, 18” dual, hand hammered, and extra thin jazz crashes (all 18) the 22” dark ride, and a 21 prototype ride which is some kinda crash ride with lathing on the bell and the bow, 2 6” splashes, 8” dark splash, Gartska hats, and a 16” dual China.
    Meinl makes the most *all around aesthetically pleasing cymbals I’ve found.* They sound a bit odd hearing them for the first time, but once you hear them in context of a full kit and onward to a full band, they sound amazing. And they record beautifully.
    So, if you hit one in a music store and it doesn’t seem right in that context, buy it and go play it in your kit and you will know. They fill a very different sonic range from Paiste, Sabian, or Zils. Once you’ve heard it, it’s hard not to drop a grand on a few more.

    • @MusicandTractors
      @MusicandTractors ปีที่แล้ว

      This comment is 100% on. I was testing out the 18 inch dual crash by itself and just didn’t care for it. Tried it twice and after 2 recommendations from friends to get the cymbal. Found one used so I took a chance. It sounds perfect with the 20 inch extra thin hand hammered and I could t be happier with the sound in context with a full kit and music. I have since fully switched from zildjian.

    I fell in love with the 16“ CC Trash Stack back in early 2020. It‘s the first Meinl cymbal I ever owned and I still love it. It is versatile, you can ride on it, you can use it for accents and they can be a second hihat. Good to see you enjoy them as well! You deserve the endorsement!!!

    Meinl cymbals really has been throwing heat in the cymbal game IMO for past 5 years. I absolutely love the cymbals in your collection and those from some other artists. I’ve been a Zildjian player for 20 years, however I definitely will be considering buying Meinl’s for my acoustic/hybrid kit I’m building. The EFX cymbals are fantastic.

    The 8" splash/high bell combo was what Benny Greb used when he was using a larger setup (like in his first DVD). When he switched to his current 4 hi-hat/2 tom setup, he moved it to his left (it has since been replaced by a prototype hi-hat). He used an 8" electro stack china/high bell combo where he now has the crasher hat.

    Was previously die hard Paiste but like you I'm loving my Byzance Extra Dry crashes along with my Byzance Raw Bell Ride and my 14 Byzance Dark hihats. I got a 10" Byzance Extra Dry splash for accents which is superb.
    Great video, thoroughly enjoyed sharing the unboxing joy with you 😀

    Mmmmmmmmmmm I just LOVE these cymbals. You were explaining how why you love your extra dry ride (old setup) and it made me think of my own byzance ride. Saved up enough money in my last years of high school to buy my ride and still i adore that thing. So much.
    The new cymbals sounds great. I had forgotten how much I can love the sound of some good cymbals

    Dry rides are an acquired taste. Personally I've never heard one I liked, but that's the best part of being a drummer in this day and age. There's a cymbal sound for everyone. Meinl's Byzance extra dry crashes and trashes are just out of sight.

    Meinl sure has come a long way..I purchased a Meinl Byzance 'Vintage Pure' 22" light ride a couple of years ago it has become one of my favorite cymbals: great stick definition, crashes well, good bell sound nice dry dark sound it has enough 'wash' but doesn't get away from you with fast stick patterns.

    For a couple thousand dollars one could certainly revamp their cymbal set. Some nice sounds. I mostly play Sabian, but I have a few cymbals from other manufacturers. My Meinl cymbal stack will be growing soon as there are a few I'm very interested in.

    Great Taste! The foundry ride is impressive. If you haven’t tried it you should try the 20” vintage crash, it’s not very well known but it’s completely different to anything I’ve heard. Hi hat wise I had a pair of traditional that had a hit of a metallic overtone, yours sound good. The jazz ones are probably my next ones (or the Benny greb, haven’t tried them in the same room)

Have you ever order them and been disappointed or found it didn't sound like you thought? You seem pleased with all of these

      I watched nothing but Meinl videos for a week. 😅 By then, I was pretty sure about what I was getting. tbh I was a little concerned about about not being able to try some of them in person, particularly the higher-end hand-hammered ones, which can vary from cymbal to cymbal. But they all ended up sounding fantastic.

    Clear bell isn’t really what I would describe the extra dry thin ride. It’s a very washy bell and not really defined at all. Good bell and ride but def wouldn’t say clear and defined. The polyphonic ride bell is something that is clear and defined

    • @ShawnCrowder
      @ShawnCrowder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't disagree... My ride before that was the 20" hammered crash, which *really* has no bell to speak of, so in relative terms the Extra Dry Thin Ride was insanely clear, and I guess that impression stuck with me.

    I'm a Paiste guy, I love their high sharp 'rice crispies' attack of their Innovation series which cuts through a Les Paul/Marshall feedback storm. If I were playing heavy metal, I'd consider Meinl, but for rock/dance/R&B, I can't stand them. The only Meinl product I ever bought was a trash splash. I've heard it said they all sound weird by themselves and can only be appreciated as an entire set, but I'm not dropping $1500 on metal for I've heard in the stores.

    How nice they sent gloves to handle a cymbal that ur gonna start beating the shit out of once u set it up lol. "treat it nice, treat it like a dainty lady before u start physically abusing it".. they must think drummers are all comparable to abusive spouses!!if they threw in a bottle of whiskey it may be too on the nose huh??
