Hey Zack coming early. I love your channel so much and you’ve honestly reminded me why I love drums so much. Please, please never stop doing what you do. You are truly the most incredible content creator I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. Have a good day man.
They sound good opened but when they are closed it doesnt really have a chick sound to it like smaller hi hats do. It basically constantly sounds like they are open.
I have the 20 inch extra dry crash, my favorite part about it is I can use it as a pseudo ride cymbal for jazz combos, brings an awesome texture during piano and bass solos
Damn dude I know exactly what you mean with that cymbal sounds. Literal ear gold haha good stuff as always tho man. You helped inspire me to start my own drum channel. Not really close to your level yet, and I just do anime intros so it's a little goofy, but I'm having fun and I've been loving trying something new. Keep it up, always enjoy seeing new content
@@JomOnHisThrone Ayy thank you so much man. I'm certainly not the most talented or expressive drummer in the world, but creating content has been so much fun so far. Keep up the good work with your stuff as well! Sounds great
One of the best things I saw happen over the pandemic was watching you blow up. TH-cam suggested your OG guitar center drummer video, and I remember genuinely being entertained watching it and giving you a sub (you had less than 15k at the time) thinking I might have found a diamond in the rough. I don't even remember when I realized your view counts and sub count had blown up, but it made me smile and it's been fucking awesome watching you turn something that I imagine was kind of just a lark while we had no gigs into a real avenue for your passion and talent for drums. Can't wait for the Meinl sessions. Cheers.
Your talent, hard work, and dedication has afforded you the great compliment of recieving these amazing cymbals. Congratulations! I love your videos, because, not only is your drumming superb, but you are really funny, and seem like a genuinely nice person.
I’ve got a set of 18” zildjian hats where I use an old A crash ride on bottom and a newer a thin crash on top. Or sometimes I use the thin crash on bottom with an a custom trash crash on top. Love them. Big hats for the win.
Wow! It's been nice seeing you with these stuff, Zack! I've been a subscriber since your "Jazz drummer tries metal" video; while then you just had less than 50k subs-I've seen how your video improved over time, as well. Also, happy to know that you've landed on Drumeo too. Keep the good CHOPZZZ coming!
Zack. I've been playing on and off for 14 years and done mostly metal and hard rock, but recently a group asked me to drum for them. Dusted my electronic kit off from its 6 month vacation in boxes and started watching your videos, and I have not stopped. I'm trying so hard to learn jazz drumming- which in reality should just be called masochism, but thank you for keeping a light attitude and having fun. Makes it so much easier to be really bad at it at first XD
Some of these cymbals remind me too much of when my dad had this beautiful wood floor put in his living room and then had a crew of guys whip the hell out of it with chains and stuff because he wanted the “distressed” look. It hurt my soul lol
Zack u r an animal of drumms!! your level, style, and skills have been growing over the years and many videos!! congrats for you groove and your new brand kit
Ride Cymbal. That's gotta be my favourite. Do like the 16" hi hats too. They both really do cut through nicely. Also love that hi hat stack you got in there at the end!!!! Top man. Great content!!!
Nah bruh bruh, I remember watching Thomas Pridgen playing with some 20” hi hats on YT XD so baller and sounded amazing ! always wanted to get some just to have fun with 🙌
Love the grooves. That 16 inch re-created hi hat is beautiful. Alot of dark, trashy cymbals happening. I like bright cymbals my self, but always looking for different things to incorporate into my style.
I love the 17in hi hats! I think the temporal stack is a little bright for you though. Also that ride is an amazing contrast for your amazing washy cymbals.
I made a "Zackshake" cymbal by taking a 20" cheap meinl ride, drilled 12 holes in it, sandpapered to top, darkened and added 6, yes six, nuts and bolts in the holes. Sizzle baby.
Hey Bro, all with you on the Hats Bro (the rest also sounds awesome) !!! Been playing 16,17,18 hats for years and always mixing and matching to get exactly that sound you got👍🏻👍🏻. Keep it up and keep it about the music/sound like you have been! Thank you 👊🏻
You should try the Meinl sticks. I don’t even play their cymbals, but ever since I tried their sticks, I’ve left the VF camp. They’re just simply better.
Really cool choices. Heavier, smaller rides are often overlooked in jazz settings, and I totally get why - but they can really bridge the gap in more agressive styles of fusion or modern jazz. Loud bells and an uber clean stick lends itself to the fast and precise nature of the drumming. I often find myself reaching for my medium 20" sabian artisan ride rather then my much lighter 22" Ufip blast extra dry, which on its own is my preferred cymbal, but in a band - or god forgive, an orchestra/big band? The heavier 20" just works so well. It's all about context, and hearing it with the music - given the chance I just set up both rides anyway ;) Keep on being a monster my guy, and hey - maybe we'll even get a chance to play together at some point.
YeAaAh!!! Dude. You should post some vids of you just jamin every once in a while. I love it when you really get in the groove and get that stank face.
Yo zack hows it going, i just started drumming again after 10 years of being away from the sticks. You have been a huge inspiration on keeping me motivated to practise and learn, id love for you to do a vid on your drumming journey from where you started, all the hours you put in, gigs youve done and where you wanna go musicly, keep doing ya thang ✌️
Bro, i actually got through the same predicament about just wanting one part of the hi-hat like you did with the top of the foundry reserve; it happened to me with the bottom part of a Sabian click hats, and o boy i do not regret getting just the bottom part of it. Cheers and thanks 4 the content bro.
The hats with the dual bottom sounds CRAZY 🔥
Totally does. Smooth and super precise sound Love it !
It's a Matt Garstka signature, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE UP TO STANDARD AT THE VERY LEAST.

Yes. Definitely gonna buy the 50 Zack grooves chops
The 17 inch hi hats actually sound incredible
Think the same! Record quality!
Well, I think they are credible

The 17 inch crash Hi-Hats actually sounded really good
They sound good opened but when they are closed it doesnt really have a chick sound to it like smaller hi hats do. It basically constantly sounds like they are open.
@@paefoiaefoiaef I agree. They would be better for rock in that way.

dude. seeing you get a matt garstka cymbal and playing these sick rock grooves has me thinking, itd be great to see you learn some melodic prog
Yeah
Maybe a Chon cover would fit better. I feel his style would go with their music a lot.

You can place those 17" hats as second hi hat stack thing. Meinl actually making that type of cymbals too
Bottom cymbal with soundpro edge is actually meta for this
Nice pfp!

Those 17" high hats had no business sounding that damn good.
Man it’s so cool to follow your success though your videos. These cymbals are very well deserved!
Love the extra dry crash. Plan on getting that, a vintage sand crash and a polyphonic ride once my heartbeat cymbals crack
Much appreciated the 17” hats. So cool how they lay low in the mix but still cut without being too high pitched
17 inch hats sound smooth as silk
Linda Carter's Wonder Woman on the back wall......I see you are a man of culture
Dream cymbal sounds. Each one of them. Wow so lucky dude

been rocking with the 17" hats for a few years my favorite size hands down!!!!

Loving the sound of that trash bottom with the foundry!! Congrats man, you deserve this! 😁 🎉
Holy hell it sounded so much better after you switched the bottom. Night and day sounds so crisp
When the 17 inch hi hats made the sizzle noise, it sound like Ringo Starr’s hi hat on the Beatles song “tell me why” or “I wanna be your man”
Those cymbals and sounds fits you the best .
Not a famous drummer but he plays what his subscribers love to hear😃 you’re such a talent bro❤️
6:40 doge check
The 17 inch hi hats actually sound dope AF
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude that 17" combo for the hi-hat is 1000% up my alley. Or down my alley. It's in my alley. My alley loves it. Holy xmas
Nice additions to your kit... looking forward to your next full jam with the new stuff!

I love those Steve Jordan hi-hats tbh. Sound so buttery and warm.

Totally hear the difference between the splash+crash+hihat combination and the normal hihats. It's in the *feel*. Also the transients lol.
