hey same here! I went to HS in a small town in Oregon in the 90s. we would have, like, 1 - 12 active skateboarders at any given time and nobody was sponsored within 50 miles. in the days before the Internet, 411 didn't just give me a taste of what's new in skateboarding, it also introduced me to SO much good music. first time I heard wu-tang clan was in a 411 segment or commercial featuring Reese Forbes (I think)...disable planets, Blondie, freestyle fellowship, de la soul, the pharcyde--so much good music.
and the skating! I remember seeing Tom Penny switch fs flip Carlsbad in an industry section before seeing Jeremy Wray do it regular at the end of that iconic line in second hand smoke. and seeing Jeremy Wray ollie the water tower gap in another industry section...too many memories to list

My first 411 was #29. To this day, watching it really touches my heart. Over the years I've colleted so many issues, early issues, contests, vacations, On Videos, etc. What you guys did for skateboarding is something very special. ❤❤❤
Im proud to say i was apart of 411 Opener issue #16 , N/B/flip up the West L.A. CourtHouse Stage aka Courthouse . Shawn Boyles , Kirk Diande filmed it , only because Donny Barley gave me opportunity , Kirk was there to film Donny , i was skating with Donny alot then he was living down the way in Santa Monica . So i had done it a couple times already , it felt so good. Never thought i would have got a Opener , being that it was my first time ever having filmed a trick in a major video then . In 1995 I got my first skate vhs which was 411vm 11 and also a pair of white etnies rap shoes. It was one of the best memories in my life.

I love this so much. 411 was a huge part of my childhood and kept a boy in rural TN a part of the skateboarding culture. Forever grateful 🤘🤘

these videos were iconic to me in the early 2000s as a kid in Utah just learning to skate and learning about the ins and outs of the industry.
I remember buying my first skate vhs 411 best of Volume 3 ! Classic !
Paul Schmitt, Josh Friedberg, and Kirk Dianda changed my life back in 1999 when the whole fingerboarding craze began. The Fingers of Fury video is still a cult classic people ask me about. I just wanted to say a sincere thank you and let the world know what a cool bunch of folks ran the 411VM empire. 411VM made the skateboarding world a better place and its impacts are still felt and remembered today. High fives from Darin Langhorst up in Canada!

Childhood memories
Living nowadays I realized that 411 was ahead of its time. They were responsible to model an entire generation.
Such good memories when me and friends used to join to watch before the skate session.

Best of Vol. 3 is an all time favorite for me. Found the VHS in my parents room before Xmas, opened it and watched it, then repackaged it to be ‘surprised’ on Xmas day 😆

The amount of nostalgia hits so hard on this one. What was incredible about this era is that you couldn't go online to find this content. It was all about waiting for it to be released to get your hands on it. Along with all the skate videos anticipated from companies. Time to listen to their opening song and then off to shred.

411 always made me super stoked for skateboarding the editing with the music was on point and i always looked foward to the adds and was introduced to new music all the time- 411 was a vibe that always got me super stoked to go skate and introduced to different culture thru skateboarding-and the music was rad to get introduced to new artist -big ups to 411 -respect

So amazing I started about 411 no12 and from 15 to 24 where my fave issues when skateing was more underground. I got into so much music though 411 and miss that era so much.

Cool I was in the Visalia skate camp montage watching Peter Hewitt skate a vert ramp on 1/2 cab flip grab to fakie. My only cameo. Grew up on 411vm. It’s like all we had as far as consistent updates with new footy from all over. I still revisit classic parts off there now and then. Of course great music choices that defined a generation. 🛹🙌🏽

@iDabbleVM Subaux fellas grew up on 411 our love for idabble is in the same vein.
Its bizarre the dudes 4 years older than me showed me a few mins of a 411 when we lived in the same apartment complex the first time I saw a skate video and then even only 10 years later I was still skating and they werent. Now 25 years later and still skating and I think their kids are skating now. Time is weird
