Not only did this make me appreciate your VFX skills, it makes me a better viewer to know what was making the earlier versions of the comp a little bit uncanny valley. Cheers 🍻
Very helpful! Thank you so much for this tutorial, Casey!
Mega value in this video, thank you!
Quick thought - if a friend of yours had an opportunity to take some pictures of vans with his iphone, why didnt he shot some 5-sec 4k videos instead?
😂 🎉 +1
Haha fair.
One last step to sell it:
You can use an expression with the camera shake so that the van is offset to the depth map to give the illusion of perspective with a parallax motion.
E:G: Put in an equation so it moves ever so slightly more than the rest, such as "=x times 0.05"
Interesting approach but I'd probably have done that in the color page using depth map and the defocus node plus film grain, perhaps even using magic mask. Could be worth making a video showing that option.
Very interesting. Thanks .
Since you took a time to shrink the edges of the van you also could add a bit of parallax as you have small buffer there. But can you tell how to match parallax with the camera shake?
cool stuff !
Great Video! Cool tricks...
But since you already cut out the van you could have also imitated a slight "dolly-shift" to the left or right. Just to give it a hint of 3d...
Oh yeah that's a good idea!
Casey I'm a big fan, and there are two things that struck me about this video first when it came up I thought it was an old video I had missed and I was dying to see the short that you have coming up! I was almost disappointed to see I can't see it immediately.
Second, I was surprised that you did not use the magic mask then a bitmap to isolate the van. That's the technique I use as a relative newbie and acolyte. Did you just not think of this or was there some reason to do it the way you did?
It doesn't cut it out well sometimes... That's all. I tried it, but the matte just wasnt good enough.
Interesting way might also be Dream Machine AI. I got fantastic 10 seconds moving shots using preexisting photos. You could also use AI to generate a picture you like.
Someone plzz help me as I'm using transform node in fusion tab to zoom in a particular area why my whole clip is moving I'm doing it by centre x but whole clip is moving plzzz help i want to zoom at a particular area plzz help
camera shake is also in the free version
Not the same Camera Shake. The free version (CShk) doesn't have the same controls as the paid effect (Camera Shake).
At 1:27 seconds, when he said, "scale it up" , his mouse disappeared from the frame.
So, an important step was omitted from the process.
Do it now!
The tricky part, when blurring the van, is when you realize that what you see through the windows is still tack sharp.
I miss Doctor Fusion every time i hear "background node"
Dammit!!
This video is not for tourists or hobby-video makers.
Complete DEPTH of Feild The way Real Life is I really HATE Blured Background's. It has it's I guess But I still HATE it.
That clone painting has made my disappointment immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
