Social media’s complicated nature

A response to a comment I got from someone on Mastodon in New Zealand, noting that the person not being on Facebook, & WhatsApp helped protect a parent from very harmful mis-, & disinfo during pandemic. Got me thinking about the far more complicated role social media plays in Global Majority - which, incidentally, PhD thesis was about as well.
