Thanks. This saved my summer trip. :D I've had the boat for 4-5 years and haven't thought about the roller bearings at all, until my sail jammed and wouldn't roll up.
Thanks Tino. A good reminder on the Furlex. I have to plead guilty to ignoring mine for the last few years. Now that I see it is not too difficult to grease it, I'll follow your lead. Much appreciated.
Selden owes you...they should be producing videos and providing instruction like this. They build a good product but they write crap instructions and the few videos they have produced are sparse on actual useful information. I could not for the life of me figure out what that wishbone shaped piece of metal was, I have it on the foresail and on the furling mainsail. I felt like it had something to do w/ sail feeding but did not think of it as a guide. Maybe Selden buried that info somewhere in their manual but I haven't found it. Thank you for the instruction!
About to do mine again and this is a great reminder of the steps and important parts to lubricate. Thanks for taking the time to film and post. Very helpful.
Thanks for this Tino. As with all your videos, this is very useful and easy to follow. The Furlex instructions are not very clear but with your help I have greased my Furlex this morning.
Thank you so much for your great videos. You’ve helped us so much. We are sailing my friends Bavaria 45 cruiser. We are big fans and love when you say Yea All the Time. And mimic you every time we work on the boat. Lolo
Great, thorough and well described furling system maintenance video Tino. My Catalina 385 rig is the same - and you have helped my immensely in planning the maintenance I will do when we launch our boat next spring.
Great video again. Never have I seen such a well greased A-hole :P Joke a side is nice to see you explain all these detailed and “minor” things - which might not be so minor after all.
Ha Ha. Thanks :) - I had some problems with the furlex system on my old boat I had for 11 years, but never thought of lubricating the bearings. I remember lubricating the wire that goes through the furlex, a total wrong thing to do. But one thing I found out was it could furl better if I tightened the shrouds the right way. Something I get into in the next video.
I have a quick question. How do you keep the cover fixed in place. It's wobbling from side to side on my boat and I can't figure out what's wrong with it. Is there a screw to hold it in place or some other mechanism?
I know a snap can go loose but I have not experienced it before in the top of a genoa. On my first sailboat the jib sheet was attached with a snap and I remember it went loose many times when it was hitting the deck. My first sailboat had no furlex.
Tino G - Sailing HiTino, only if you need to change sails often a snap is handy. Many members of our Bavaria club in Netherlands experienced the snap collapse. They installed the harp.

Great job showing us where to grease the furling system. Thank you for sharing.

Great video and demo Tino. Thanks. You got me inspired and started. Per “Breeze”
pretty good job bud on our boat we use a syringe and fill it with grease much easier to control and get into tight spots
Just did this. Used this video to help. Captain Weltzien sent me here. Thanks

Amazing video, thank you so much.

Very helpful Tino, thank you.
Great video, Tino 👍🏻

Another tip. You better change the snap in the top for a harp. The snap can come easily loose and the sail comes down!

thanks , very useful
Tino, Hows your stove? We're currently pulling it apart and getting rid of some rust that has formed on our barvaria stove tops.. Was a fun project..
Best way is use a little bakery brushto spread the lubricate in the bearings!
Yes I'll use a brush the next time.
Tino G, what did you use to polish and wax the deck? Looks good.
Thanks :) It is mostly washed with Hempel´s Clean & Shine boatshampoo
"The a-hole" :-)
He doesn't know. His words .
