- My sails is renovated by a sailmaker in Aarhus Denmark due to some small repairs.
The genua is then almost ready to mount but before that I seal of a small hole in one of the sail pocket on the genua.
Info from the seldén furlex manual :
1. Tension the forestay for hard close-reach sailing before the sail is hoisted.
2. Turn the tack ring counter-clockwise if the furling line exits on the port side of the drum.
3. When line exits on the port side of the line drum, the sail should be hoisted in the starboard groove.
Note: The Swedish made instrument is in the next video.
Hi, some tips.
Remove the plastic "plate" in side the drum. It just jams the line and has no use.
You should use the starbord track if your furlingline go on the port side of the boat, makes furling easier
Turn the "halshornring" (don't know the english word :-) but it's the ring on the drum were you hook the sail) counterclockwise before you fasten the sail. In that way the sail furl one lap on the track before the drum starts to pull the sail, makes furling a bit easier
Thanks for the tips :)
Cool video . Thanks for your tips and advice . Is it possible to make a sock or snuffer to cover the furled genoa so the sail doesn't get affected by the strong UV deterioration ?
3-5 turns left on the drum is furlex own recommendation. And the sail should be hoisted in the groove opposit of the side the line exits out of the drum. This helps as the first furl turn on the genoa becoms less «sharp». If that makes sense.
Super! Thanks for the info. :)
