If I could get one for the 800! But honestly, I am so glad to see you all bringing the chassis back as it could really be a game changer for a ton of people out there.
We'd love to bring this to the table as well. Maybe in the future we could do a more limited run if there is enough interest!
Looks sweet. It would be nice if there was a spring over axle option for bigger tires and better off road performance.
Wow. This is great. I just have to get over the not stock. I've been hung up over that for a while. This just changed my mind .
We appreciate your kind words!
Are there any plans to do a Traveler chassis ?
what??? wowzer. I have a 68 IH Scout. Daily.
All that but no update to a modern suspension?
Very Cool.
A Tremec 5- or 6-speed manual overdrive would be a great transmission to spec as well.
Link suspension available ?
who manufactures the frame? looks great!
Its an Anything Scout exclusive!
What is the engine?
@@levyoliver5363 it comes standard with a 4.8L V8 LS
@@anythingscout is it International harvester engine?
I am about to replace my 79' chassis with a modified HMMWV chassis, 6L90 like shown here and mercedes OM606 deisel, I would like to see how this new chassis compares with your chassis and modern drivertrain. I am trying to build the VanGuard scout that was drawn by Carlos Pecino and shown in BlessThisStuff, when I am all done can we link up and do a side by side?
What are the box frame section dimensions? Looks like mandrel-bent tube, but only 2" wide, and perhaps 4" tall. The original was 3"x4" but only 1/8" (max) thick. With the top off and supported between inboard spring perches on a lift, the flex would not let my doors open/close without binding.
Dimensions are 2" x 4" x 3/16" !
really? what about all of the support from your body mounts?
now need to get aqualu to make scout bodies or restart the kentrol fiberglass line and no need for a donor scout.
ih parts told me on the phone that they are going to start making complete tubs with the new sheet metal parts from ej classics/dynacorn. seems like you could plop one of those on this and have a brand new scout
@@ebifurai415 IH parts as in lightline or the new company scout motors? You could prob even register as a kit car if you cannot find a donor vin
Rough Cost?
$49,000 (rough cost from their site)
@@runtondog Ouch! I was hoping it was going to be half that.
How much ???
$50k
Really @@ebifurai415
$49,000 (rough cost from their site)
They used to be priced for the common folk, only the rich and afford them now. Sad, such a great product too.
You can't blame anything scout for wanting to get a return on years of R&D. That labor isn't and shouldn't be free. I can't afford it either but I don't think it's an unfair price.
@@ebifurai415 It's just that you can buy a new truck for 50k. Not a high trim truck, but not a roller either.
@@rts3613 A v8 convertible SUV??? or are you thinking a single cab 1500 because all the crew cabs start at $45k. This is not an assembly line build of 50,000 trucks so the power of bulk buying is lost. Find a hand build car or truck that even comes close to this price... all are way more, even if you spend $30k to have a body shop do a full body and an interior shop do a $20k interior you'd be at $100k - What's the cost of a Aston, Rolls, Bufori, Lamborghini , or McLaren hand built?
@@CompleteHavocLLC I think you can buy a new Bronco, nice midsize pickup or many full size lower trim half tons for around 50k these days. I bought my Scout II 30 years ago for $1800 and used it as my daily driver for the next ten years. I think most Scout owners would find 50k for just this absurd. Maybe the "new" Scout owners are investment bankers and surgeons, I don't know. Anything Scout didn't even upgrade the design. It's not like they're keeping them numbers matching restorations! With these restomods everything is upgraded, but the frame design itself? They used to offer a modified JK frame with modern Jeep suspension for around 20k, still high, but at least it was an upgrade. When you start adding horsepower and significantly lower gearing, you invite axle wrap, and I didn't see where they added a track bar, or other remedy, to their "hand made" frame. Maybe it's just me, but I think there are alot better ways to spend 50k on my Scout, or just spend 50k period.
@@rts3613 I don’t think that’s a fair comparison. These are one off chassis for a custom resto mod international made by humans vs a mass produced vehicle made by robots. Economies of scale. I’m sure if anything scout made 300,000 of these they would be a hell of a lot cheaper. If it’s not worth it to you and you’d rather get a new truck that’s up to you.
