Great video sir. Scouts have always had a soft spot on my heart.
1974, Marty's grandad and dad owns IH dealership in Torrington, CT. Mark and Martin (twin brothers) just graduated h.s. Their mom and dad owned a chalet on Mt. Holly in Ludlow Vt. Marty's dad took in on trade a BIG 1960"s (1 ton??) 4 door, gas powered (I think) manual trans. multi lever IH 4X4 pickup. The twins bought it. That winter, Tony, myself, with the twins drove from Torrington to Mt Holly (@ 4 MPG if my memory is correct). We (I) drove off road (low range) through the snow to get firewood. I remember Mark telling me to move my hands/grasp - don't wrap your thumbs around the steering wheel or you'll lose them.. Sure enough I hit something buried in the snow and the wheel was violently YANKED out of my hands. Glad I listened. Marty still owns the I.H. building though occupied by a Freightliner (??) dealership. Marty has hung on to many scouts, etc.

I love Scouts! My dad worked at the Fort Wayne plant and retired from the Indy engine plant. Don't know why he never bought one, but I bought a 79 Scout 11 a couple years out of high school. 😢 The auto trans went out a couple of years later, but I didn't know how to fix it and couldn't afford to pay someone. So I sold it.😢😢 biggest mistake I could have made. Things are different now, and I wish I still had it!

I'm happy to see this, yall did an amazing job with this video. Telling some amazing stories, and listening to the insane amount of work and dedication this man goes through all just for his personal joy, anyone else affected that is just a wonderful bonus that comes from being an IH enthusiast helping keep these hunks of iron rolling for future generations to experience and allowing old memories from the past generations to resurface and bring joy back from the past.
You also happened to find one of the nicest guys in the state, who im happy to say is one of my inspirations for my own little IH hoard of scouts, trucks, and parts.
