    Hi Rich
    Thanks for the review. Im using the premium lens guards several months and I´m very happy in general; and of course as you said it cannot be used in all the situations, most of it by reflections..
    For me right now the main issue is how to clean it by inside, and taking pictures at night.
    Thanks

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment - I would buy some proper lens cleaner so every now and then you can give it a real good clean. Yes pictures at night is tricky because of the harsh lights and reflections. Just use the app snd position the camera the best way to avoid the harshest lights.

    As someone who just bought his first 360 X2, I'm learning about all sorts of things like this and this one really helps. I've seen a lot more issues with the sticky guards and think I'll take the minimum stitch line to a fogged lens that I have to keep wiping down or applying anti-fog stuff.

    Awesome share Rich!
    There's only a few scenarios I see myself using these for example with the RC car (and low angle shots on the motorcycle/ car)
    Other than that I rather use top metal gear to mount the camera and if they're not secure enough then I'll have to think about alternatives taking the shots...
    They do fit a specific purpose but some things are just better raw 😊

    I want one of these, but I already have a little bumper case on my one x2, and the stick on lens guard. With premium lens guard, I'd have to remove the bumper case, the stick on, and will have trouble accessing the USB port and kind of a hassle putting the one x2 back into the neoprene pouch it came with.
    I still am not sure if the image quality is worth it. I might stay with the stick on for a little bit more and see if I do/do not like my results with it. I'm still a relatively new one x2 owner.

    • @EatSleep360

    I have the Insta 360 mod and I also bought the ND filters but I am unhappy with the end results because of the Flaring and the artifacts and sometimes the stitching is off as the image looks shifted. I really wish the 360 cameras could have a built-in ND filter. I’m deciding to run the camera bare-bones no Guards or ND. And decided that if something happens to the mod I’ll just have to replace it. 😅

      I have the normal lens guard. Used a pair for my son (8) was handling. The image definitely takes a hit but for CHF 33 the plastic did save a scratch or two. Those are disposable and are tricky to put right. On kayaking trip, the water droplets marks were visible but I don’t have a comparison. Cheers!

    Hi Rich, i just started recording videos with my One X2 and i am having a coloring issue. With or without these lens guards i have a noticeable difference of color between the two lenses, one looks normal and the other slightly yellowish.
    I have tried videos with and without guards at different positions of the stitching line to the sun but this discoloration is still there, searched online and many people are having this issue without a fix being provided by Insta360. Do you happen to know how this can be fixed or has this happened to you as well?

    • @EatSleep360
      @EatSleep360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Different light on each lens affects the colour but you can use chromatic calibration in the app or in the studio and it helps correct the differences. In the app it’s in the menu by pressing the three dots top right. Hope this helps

      You should always shoot at the highest res for 360 videos so 5.7k and then export them from insta360 studio at the same resolution as TH-cam will compress them and 5.7k isn’t that high anyway for 360 as it’s shared across the entire 360 image as you probably know. Why don't they make the front element of the lenses replaceable?
    Theu will be damaged at some point, so being able to screw out that front lens and replace it is a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing the entire unit.

    Just throwing this idea out there...I also wrote insta360 about this. Hoping someone smarter than me can figure out the details and let the rest of know how they did it or sell it. How about making a lens film that would be shaped like a contact lens that can be "stuck" to the lens. Like a screen protector for a cell phone, but with a concave surface where it adheres to the lens. This would remove the fogging issue since there is no air between the film and the lens. And when they get scratched they can be removed and replaced.

      you realize how hard it would be to put that on? People even have a hard time putting a screen protector on a flat screen

    Put the lens guard on the One RS 360 lens ( which I actually had replaced due to. scratch) and it seems to be pretty bad if I can be honest. they are stick ons and they leave a pretty bad stitch. Have a look at this I filmed yesterday of the Larches here in the Canadian Rockies tell me what you think . th-cam.com/video/2XbiJsScU7k/w-d-xo.html

    This is so frustrating so much money we give to this companies while they know it’s a camera people are going to put here and there and to have no protection on those lens and the 100plus repairs not good I prefer my GoPro 10.

    Lens guards that get in the way of using the camera ports? Hardly premium lolol. Watch a new premium premium version in the future, that does what these ones should do in the first place. Who's designing these? Llamas?

    Good video thanks! tell me ? Why do you complain to a camera that would never give good quality video or photos? It is very expensive and you have to have a very expensive cell phone and a very expensive PC! and will never give good quality?
    Always poor quality.
