I love the simplicity of the spring supports! You'll never have to worry about them going flat like a gas strut. I'm adding these to my build for sure.
What a clean job with the proflex. I am building a camperette and watching the quality you are putting into your build makes me strive for quality in mine.
Good idea using the springs for the hatch supports. I've seen them used on overhead cabinet doors before but not for hatches. Hopefully theyll continue to hold the hatch up in the wind. No maintenance and longer lasting than struts.
I've had a set of struts fail and hatch fall on my head... won't use those anymore! You can find the springs on Southern Cal Teardrops, they'll hold! :)
Tell ya what I was re-caulking a tub & shower years ago and through trial and error I ended up with pretty much this exact method you used here with the tape along the sides and then you peel it off after and it looks great with nice clean lines. I guess I just figured it out because nobody showed me how and this was years before the internet and TH-cam. I really appreciate all your videos!
Yeah!!! Great wprk, like always!!! I guess that one reason to enjoy that much your videos, is that you take un step at a time... little great tasks that add up to a beatiful finished job! I'm still on the design stage, but learnig so much from you! Keep the great work!
Hey 280Z... had a bad experience where a set of struts failed and had a hatch drop on my head once. Trust me... when that happens once, you vow never again! LOL!
The work is wonderful, I really liked your videos, could you make subtitles in Russian, I don't understand English well, and the second is where to buy all aluminum profiles for a van. Please give a link to buy aluminum profiles you are just super and a godsend for me
Very nice, Al! Just wondering - do you plan on using Pro Flex around the doors as well? Sealing is one of my least favorite jobs as well, but yours turned out very nice. Can't wait to see which fenders you picked out!
Hey Mark! Yes sir... will be sealing around the doors as well, we'll make them look purtty as well! LOL! Yeah, getting it all sealed up is my least favorite as well, but glad that's out of the way, on to bigger and better things now! Cheers!
Hi Al, I wrote to Southern Cal Tear drops to order the spring supports like you used but SCT said they use only the gas struts on all their tear drop builds. Do you think they quit carrying the spring supports or perhaps you got them from another source? Thanks for your help!
Great video! Everything is looking good. Question, I know that after the build is finished you're releasing the cost of building it, but I was wondering if you'd also be able to share how heavy it is? I want to build a teardrop when i've got the money, and would love to use your plans, but i've got a weight capacity of about 1000 pounds with my current car, so i'm curious to know how heavy yours ends up being. Thank you for making such a wonderful series and bringing us all along with the build!
Thanks Bluejay! You betcha.... as soon as we are finished we'll give it a tow to weigh station and find out actual weight. If I had to guess, I'm probably right at 1000 or a little over
You may of answered this before but I was wondering if you kept track of how many USD you have into this build? Thank you for putting this series of TH-cams together. I am thinking about building a teardrop and the information you have provided is priceless. If anything it is helping me decide to either purchase one vs build one. Thanks again! Bill (Vermont)
Hey Bill! Haven't added the total cost of the build yet... have all the receipts in the red cooler waiting to be tallied. I'll post a video of that when we're finished. Also have to tow and get 'er weighed! :) For MY build, I'm guessing I have close to 6K into it. Can be built for a lot less for sure! Thanks for the kind comment! Cheers!
@@OregonBatman It was funny last Sunday I started watching you 1st video around 3:30pm. Looked up and it was about 10:30pm. My wife was wondering what the heck I was doing sitting in from of my computer for so long. lol . Your videos just kept going, and going, and going, and going.. I actually skipped a few of them in the 30's. I am thinking it would take about 6k to do things right. Unfortunately with that being said I think I can purchase a nice used one for that price if not maybe less money and will be able to use it right away. I have a 74 Dodge challenger that needs to be restored. You gotta pick your battles when it comes to "projects". Thanks again!! Will be interesting to see how your receipts add up. ps. where's Robin?
Super surprised about those springs, never would have thought that was a thing that exists. Way cool
Work like a charm!
Super video! I applauded for CA$2.00 👏
Thank you Chris!
Springs .,what a awesome idea,,looks really good. Albert.
Thank you Michael! Turning out sweet! More stuff comin'! :)
Absolutely 💯 perfect. The Batman came through again
Bad jokes and all!! LOL!
Should have called yourself the " Oregon Joker"
Great job!
Looking forward seeing the fender installation!
Thank you! May not be the most glamorous fender installation, but it works. Hoping everyone likes it! :)
I love the simplicity of the spring supports! You'll never have to worry about them going flat like a gas strut. I'm adding these to my build for sure.
Trust me when I say... if the gas supports go out, you WILL have a headache! I will like the spring supports much better! Thanks SkyroofNova!
What a clean job with the proflex. I am building a camperette and watching the quality you are putting into your build makes me strive for quality in mine.
Hey Mark! Thanks for the kind comment! Go for the quality... you'll be much happier later! :) Cheers!

Thanks Diego! Planning always takes the longest, but when you're ready, it'll go pretty quick!
Hey, about ready to do some camping! Looking good.
Thanks Rocky! Getting real close now!
I'd be interested to know why you went with the springs vs gas struts.

Спасибо Николаеву! Я купил алюминий в Vintage Technologies: www.teardroptrailerparts.com/hinges---aluminium-trim.html.

Hi there … noticed you used spring vs gas struts for your hatch lid. Where did you purchase your springs?
Hello... picked the springs up here: oregontrailer.net/product/galley-hatch-support-springs-pair/
Hope that helps!
Like those springs! Didn't know they even existed. Again great job!
Thanks Ivo!

Try oregontrailer.net oregontrailer.net/product/galley-hatch-support-springs-pair/
They should have what you are looking for
Love the hatch support solution!
Do you seal intersection of trim like the spot at 13:20? And if so what do you deal it with? Thanks.
Hey Jasper118... I used Proflex for all of the trim and seals. Good stuff and highly recommend
@@OregonBatman awesome thank you
