It was sup to be set up to be at 950 fps shooting jsb slugs 50 grain. The best I can get fps is 920 a few time up to 930. It came to me from Utah air guns with both regs set at 125. Could not keep a tight group. Today I set it to what I said above. Still no tight grouping at all. I have cleaned my barrel a few times. I may have about 300 round though it since new. Great test set up! Get those babies accurate just under subsonic and you got a winner. I have been designing hybrid slugs for a minute and have several styles including a 35 cal that is ridiculous. I have designed a new way to produce them at home from recycled material easily and efficiently. At some point would you like to test. Hello, could you tell me your opinion about the two models of air rifles. Between MAVERICK 30 CAL SNIPER or FX M3 SNIPER 30 CAL which can increase the speed and how much FPS will be used for hunting foxes and predators
The .30 cal Hybrid slugs are for birds, squirrel, etc. They are really terrible for headshots on anything bigger than a squirrel. Racoons are a no go for the hybrid slugs in .30 I was extremely pissed off and disappointed. Had a very bad experience shooting these with the 68 whiskey 965fps tune. I hit a racoon at 25 yards perfect shot and it took a second one and still didn't die. Had to put it down with my .22 pistol. Next day I dialed in with the 44g pellets and they put a racoon down with no problem with the same shot between the eye and ear. I think the hybrid hollow points do not have enough structural integrity for penetration through skulls on racoon size game and up.
Hey Ernest, how far down the chamber would you expect the rifling to start, Woul the probe push the pellet into the rifling or tight to it,? I have a barrel where the rifling starts 6mm in front of where the probe stops, There is no resistance when loading but if you manually push the pellet it travels a further 6mm in the breach to the rifling. Any opinions on this are welcome, The way I see it is air can pass by the slug untill it hits the resistance.
Hey Ernest I am curious to know what is the twist rate of the barrel liner you used in this video? Is it one of the new Superior Liners with the 1:22" twist rate? Or is it the new Superior Heavy Liner with the 1:18" twist rate?
What was the can that took the place of the plenum. Does it make it better, maybe not. Sometimes its better to leave well enough a lone. Good luck Ernest with it. Now you got me all confused on what to buy.
Wow nice video Ernest! 44.5 Hybrids at 1080 ft./s = 115 ft. lbs. energy! I recently tuned a friends' Impact .30 Slugger to shoot the NSA 61.5 grain Hollow Point Slugs at 960 ft./s which equals 126 ft. lbs. energy...and at 50 yards they will consistently deliver 3/8" groups. Try tuning for heavier slugs at less velocity because the heavier slugs seem to out perform the lighter ones.
