- Three Dog Night is an American rock band. They formed in 1967 with a line-up consisting of vocalists Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron. This lineup was soon augmented by Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), Joe Schermie (bass), Michael Allsup (guitar), and Floyd Sneed (drums). The band registered 21 Billboard Top 40 hits (with three hitting number one) between 1969 and 1975. Because Three Dog Night recorded many songs written by outside songwriters, they helped introduce mainstream audiences to writers such as Paul Williams ("An Old Fashioned Love Song") and Hoyt Axton ("Joy to the World").

Cory Wells is pure funk and soul...Absolutely one of the best singer ever...no one does this song better!!!
The coolest cat ever to come out of Buffalo NY!!!
Ever seen The Commitments?
Disse Tudo !!!👏👏👏👏
Otis Redding
Cory's voice is one of greatest ever, in a league of its own. He's gone now but may he rest in peace. I'll never forget his epic version of this Otis Redding classic.
One of the most underrated singers of his generation, in my opinion.
All 3 had great vocals. Also loved CHEST FEVER 👍

AGREED. But I thought that Cory carried the group with his high notes, unapproachable by the others.
Also agree 👍
One of my favorite Cory Wells sung songs. Blue eyed soul at it's finest. RIP Cory.
Sexiest man in Heaven😇. No man ever had this much funk or sang so good, we miss you so bad Cory.♥️
Best song sung by them. Corey is outstanding ❤
Magnificent Masterpiece, very beautiful piece of music from Three Dog Night, fan for over 50 years, Corey was a great singer, brilliant Master musicians
I love the way they do this. Just like on the live album from 1970. Far out!
RIP Cory. Your beautiful voice is so missed.
Killer voice , one of the greatest ever singers RIP Cory Wells
😅one of the greatest groups ever! Cory always gave his all -no other voice like his
I have always loved Three Dog Night's songs and Chuck, Danny, and were all great singers. Cory has always been my favorite because he had a soulful voice. He always got so into the music and threw himself into his performances. I had a crush on him in high school in 1970 and I am 69 now. Looking back, I still think they were a talented band.
Still the only group where I had every Album.
@@highlander9121 I had a bunch of their albums, but I don't remember if I had them all.
They headlined a festival in Birmingham, AL in April 1972..... And I was there. I had always liked them, but I DID NOT expect to be entertained like that. Even deep cuts like 'Good Feelin' (1957)' were just PURE FUN.
One of my all time favourites done by one of the most most soulful voices of the era RIP Cory!
Cory Wells does some sweet justice to this one!
Cory Wells is one of the few that could have pulled this off. This is what music is, its feeling.
I freaking love this song by Cory!!!! Damn he's so soulful!!!!!
What an excellent rendition of their cover. One of the best examples of blue-eyed soul I've ever heard.
Yep😁👏👏👏
Pure talent! Music that speaks to you unlike todays.
I can listen to this song over and over never getting tired of it
one of the best covers of an all time great tune
Cory Emil Lewandowski Wells, now sings with thee angels. Love you and miss you ❤️ You were superb 🤗👍🏻
I was extremely fortunate to see Cory Wells, and 3 Dog Night at the Sunrise Theatre in For Pierce in 2015 just prior to the untimely deaths of both Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards) and Cory Wells . This was a real treat, to be able to see this historic band 'all together' during one of their final tours as THE 'original 3 Dog Night group'. No doubt that Cory was the 'anchor' of that legendary group !
I was hooked on "ONE" and then was crazy about "Tenderness" , "Eli's Coming" and so many others - enjoyed meeting the guys with my dear brother and bandmate Jim Erickson in 85....Holiday Inn gig
This was their first big song on the chart, originally recorded by Otis Redding and others. Check out Otis's live performance at Monterey pop he kills it.
Cory is amazing 🙏 RIP
So was the bassist Joe Shermie and keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon..
I love the way he made this song his own. Bringing such originality to a highly covered soul classic & making it ROCK with soul...
L-E-G-E-N-D-A-R-Y!
Cory was plain bad ass.
The dude had some serious Soul
wanna get ya lover...someday
No doubt😁😁😁👏
Great work on the HAMMOND !! "Beauty and the B " jusayin"
Great band, that had 20 number 1 singles
Absolutely Brilliant. Truly honours Otis and even outshines his original. Saw them in STL live at the old Kiel downtown.
At the time, these guys never got the credit they deserved..
So sorry to hear Cory Wells had died. RIP 🙏..soulful dude.
The best !! What a voice Cory wells has. He’s singing in that heavenly choir! ✌️❤️
Isn't Cory amazing 💜💜💜🙏
Saw Chuck Negron perform with a slew of greats from the era a few years ago. He still looks and sounds wonderful!
Love three dog night and all their songs I don't know if they've been inducted into the Hall of rock and roll Fame and if they haven't they should be❤❤❤❤
What a soulful song🤩🥰👏🥰🤩🤩👏👏👏👏
I thought Cory Wells was black when I heard this song first time....what a voice! very soulful
Blue eyed soul.. right here
Amazing cover 🤩👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cory you touch me very deeply! RiP
I used to have such a huge crush on Cory Wells when I was younger.
All I can say is fantastic,
RIP Floyd Snead
Cory....MR VOICE! I've never seen this video, thankyou
1972... The year we still had the best bands of the 60 ies, but new bands came to carry the tradition...
Allsup is an absolutely incredible guitarist/musician! He ALWAYS adds so much to the TDN songs! Thank you!
of course, the bassist is there every song! he's incredible!
Best singer in the band… Cory Wells of course. Rest in paradise Cory.
❤️Cory! RIP🌹
That great gospel voice of Cory 4:03 "Sock it to me! Sock it to me! Lord ya got to!"
singin with that heavenly choir now
Love this band
I saw them Live in 1971 at the old Parker Field in Richmond Va.
Amazing voice and delivery! Love you, Cory!
Very underrated band
Damn!
❤ love and miss that song during my high school days at University of Pangasinan Dagupan City Philippines memories memories memories Thanks Three Dog Night or Otis Redding. SVRY55
Love this man♥️ I never can stop saying this!
Never saw this one, wow!!!
Best version of this song! Cory at his finest!(Including the famous Sock it to Me!!!) You are forever the best, Cory!♥️♥️♥️
Classic
VERY GOOD........................
Love ya all
RIP Cory Wells. ❤
Never knew they covered this certainly different 👍
Cory and TDN did it the best without a doubt !!!!
This song was the late, great Otis Redding's! Also mention goes to John Finley of "John, Lee & The Checkmates" (Toronto, Can.), and 60's Super Group "Rhinoceros", who wrote ("Let Me Serenade You"). John's recent album "Soul Singer" has His version of the song demonstrates that both HE & the song are still timeless more than 1/2 a century later! Floyd Sneed, 3 Dog's Drummer is from Calgary, Alberta - his sister Maxine was married to Tommy Chong & is the Mother of actress Rae Dawn Chong - All are Canadian.
Love the announcers eyes.
Those early 8track tape days
There was Cory Wells, Steve Marriott and Joe Cocker ... and then there was everyone else.
Great memories with this song back in 72. Had just met my first boyfriend. Now found out he is gone. 😢
Best lead ever!☦️👩🏻🦳🌻‼️
How about that blue eyed soul? Eat your heart out Darryl Hall
Students of Ray Charles school of soul : Terry Kath, Corey Wells, Michael McDonald, Tom Jones, Dennis Yost .......feel free to add to this list
Steve Marriott, Mitch Ryder, Paul Rodgers....
The only thing that could have made it better if it was in stereo!
To pan away from Cory (on this song) for even a second is such a shame.
Otis Redding - Try A Little Tenderness
Clearly based on the Otis Redding version from the 1968 film Monterey Pop. Both are a very long way from the focus of the lyrics and emotions of the original depression era song. Check out the 1933 US versions by Bing Crosby, Ruth Etting, Ted Lewis, and Charlie Palloy.
💜
Floyd rules!!!
If this was 1972, where was Danny & Chuck?
this song was on another video they did in 1972 that had all 3
and Cory did some great dancing along with his great singing
and it was much better than this one
but unfortunately you tube says it isn't available anymore.
I would enjoy the tick-tock drum in this rendition being less loud.
that's Cory Wells, not Chuck Negron!
I had this '72 version saved and it is gone, poof (deleted account or whatever). The version I had saved is this exact one, WITHOUT the updated computer enhancements that make the color and video crisp. Does anyone know where I can still find that original (1972) version? Although not as modern, it has much more character and I like it much better than this enhanced version.
Second best version to Otis Redding
Some kind of a white Otis Redding.
Otis Redding Would be Proud!

Why did that person have to jump up at the beginning of the video and ruin it?
She interrupted the whole start of the song. 😡
Don’t you realize this is music history you’re dealing with here ?
this is not just a walk in the park , this is serious, ...
these precious moments on tape will never again be duplicated in real life
so why would you annoyingly superimpose yourself not the screen so you can be seen on the video?
I thought it was highly inappropriate😡😡😡😡😡

ha
👩🏻🦳❤️‼️
This is very good, but doesn't compare to Otis! My opinion.
do NOT like the girl appearing telling what the song is...unnecessary
Ooof, you better fire her then 😂
too bad...

Good Gawd! Lord Almighty! ...... Cory.......the true Alpha Voice....in this Band. ( nothing against Chuck....who was ( is) a force to be reckoned with in his own right; Danny?.... he was just 'their'...backup guy) but oh my god....Cory Wells............ What a STAR.
💜
