Thank you so much. It’s so reassuring and validating to hear this from a catholic perspective.

I started writing out my feelings in a journal a few weeks ago. I’m at like 4,000 words already. It is very helpful.

Relationship where sex is involved is even worse. The breakups are more painful. Why? Because sex actually creates chemical bonds btw two persons (through the hormone oxytocin and others). Which is why sex is meant for marriage--- till death do us part!

A break up can be a good thing , maybe you dodged Bullet on that relationship? And you can move on to something better? I a lot the pain derives from your own fantasy of what your future was going to look like with this particular person, and that it die's with the breakup ,like a death.

This seems to assume that the break is not a marital one. Discerning God's will through divorce is much more difficult.

I would respectfully disagree with the message here.
The initial premise stated is inaccurate. It was something along the lines of saying God never meant for relationships to end.
Maybe in heaven that’s the case, not on earth though. Almost all relationships come to an end on God’s earth, and that was His design. The grief that follows is a necessary part of the healing process. Why does it exist? Because when we lose a partner we loved our hearts are injured. And our spirits grieves as part of the healing process. We can choose to have gratitude for the relationship and forgiveness, or wallow in anger and resentment.
In order for God to create valuable experiences, gifts, relationships, hobbies, etc, there must be the possibility of losing them in a mortal world. God created wealth, and it’s good, losing it hurts. God made love, love is good, losing it hurts. And the pain of loss teaches us lessons about what we value.
The grief of a lost relationship is a difficult burden to bear and process through. But keep the virtues of gratitude and forgiveness in your heart and the process will end. On the other side of the healing is joy once again, and may it abide in the hearts of all those in pain soon.

Why would God let us feel this pain if He loves us? Further, why must all of humanity suffer for what Adam and Eve did--AKA "The Fall"? Does this sound fair or loving to you?

@@cwebbwash3 Why did your parents punished you when you were a child and misbehaved, even though it caused you emotional pain? Because they loved you, and knew that the temporal pain you felt was worth the lesson they were teaching. This is just an example to say: Love does not exclude pain.

The catechism answers that "the whole human race is in Adam 'as one body of one man'. By this 'unity of the human race' all men are implicated in Adam's sin, as all are implicated in Christ's justice."
This means that there is an inseparable link between Adam and the rest of humanity, which is why his sin has consequences for all of mankind.
This is why "it is a sin which will be transmitted by propagation to all mankind, that is, by the transmission of a human nature deprived of original holiness and justice".
So as a consequence of this sin, human nature got distorted in a way and this distorted state got passed on because as a result of a choice freely made, it is not directly reversible.
This is why it is important to keep in mind that for us, this sin is "a state and not an act"(CCC 404). And it shows that God did not mean to punish mankind with this fallen nature, instead, it is a direct consequence of Adam's decision.
Still, since God is Love he loves us so much that he wanted to "untwist" this distorted state by sending us his only son, who died for us in order to redeem us. So this is what is crucial, even though we are still in this fallen state, because of Christ, we also have been given the Grace to free ourselves from our sins, so that we can truly be free. Hope that helped :)
