Wow, emotional chastity. I'd honestly not heard of/thought of that one before. That's definitely food for thought for me. Thank you.

@Theology of the Body Institute It's so true that it's different for everyone. I'm going on 7 years dating my gf and it's been a journey. We started dating in college and neither of us were practicing Catholics and our relationship/lifestyle wasn't at all in accordance with the Church. 2 years out of college and I had a big reversion to the faith, and wanted to bring her along with me, which she was open to. In addition, I realized only a year ago I'd been operating out of a huge place of woundedness this whole time, as I am a child of divorce and I have a huge aversion to marriage due to the pain my family life and my parents' estranged relationship caused me. Catholic therapy and spiritual direction has been a huge help. I definitely wish it didn't take this long for me, and for healthy individuals with a solid upbringing and Catholic faith it definitely wouldn't take as long. But I hate it when Catholics from that background judge people like me/have the same expectation of me, who have a hidden history of suffering and woundedness that doesn't make us fit into the "standard mold" of an ideal, pious, perfect Catholic young person. Catholic culture has really not been welcoming to me and I wish there were more resources for Catholic children of divorce.

what a great testimony! i highly recommend the “Life-Giving Wounds” retreat. I am also a child of divorce and the retreat has brought many graces to my wounds of the divorce.
they also have so much info about the vast complexities of divorce and our faith.
      God bless!

5:46 please don't use the term "significant other" -- it was a word invented by people who wanted to remove the Biblical view of sex by replacing boyfriend/girlfriend- making the sex of the other partner vague makes it much easier to talk about a same-sex partner for example. Additionally, it removes the distinction between a dating/courtship relationship and a marriage. What's a girlfriend, a wife? They're both "significant others". Using their language furthers their goals!
Finally, the worst thing about the term: it's widely used on R*ddit by R*dditors, which are the worst of "people" except for maybe Twitter users.

I agree, also the word "partner"

I think it's an excellent term for a loved one, or someone in a serious relationship. The gender of the person may not be an issue regarding the point one is making. S. O. or partner can always fit.

She does seem rather....happy considering she's covering relatively serious subjects. She seems like a nice woman and that comes across!

Her enthusiasm and cheerfulness is very refreshing to see in such a jaded, cynical and lifeless culture.

Hey, there was a whole discussion between me and a Gigi somebody-or-other, several comments which are now gone. Did she delete it? Did the channel owner delete it? Either of those would be really lame if so.
