- 'The Grail Watch' is a term used all too frequently in the watch hobby, but we all seem to have varying opinions on what it defines. In this episode, I discuss my view on what a Grail Watch is, as well as what it is not!

Brilliant mark keep it up please !!!👌🏽
Thank you! Will do!
I love the Speedy triple date. It’s also an automatic, which fixes the one reason I sold my Speedy, which is that it’s too hard for me to wind with the crown sandwiched so closely between the pushers.
I will get a Moonwatch one day, but other watches keep popping up in front, that I also want to try out! The Speedy seems like a lot of money for what it is, but it looks so tactile!
ROFL at the ducks and the shot of the nuclear detonation when talking about lighting the grill 😅
haha yeh we've all lost our eyebrows at least once, trying to get a barbecue going!
@@TheRandomWatchDude been there, done that! 🔥
😮😃 This exact model Speedmaster, the blue triple date, was my first "proper" watch, back in 2005! When I saw it I knew I had to have it. And I still have it, 19 years later! I hope you enjoy it!
Oh wow that's a great story! I'm looking forward to the courier driver knocking on my door tomorrow!
@@TheRandomWatchDude looking forward to seeing the reveal!
@@SimonKinsella Will put up an unboxing on Tuesday with luck!
My grail watch is my next watch….exactly right! 😊
I suppose what I didn't make clear enough is that I don't want to buy a watch unless I've eagerly pursued and desired it first! 😅
Bloody hell you live and learn !. I always thought those barbeque thingys are just for burning old bank statements and various other crap that comes through the letterbox , so they are dual purpose eh ?. The term ' Grail Watch ' has always tickled me , you have it spot on Mark. I'm in the same ball park, see a watch I really fancy owning thats in reach via the wallet department , do some research and buy it. Job done and move on to the next. I do have a few ' more chance of giving birth than ever owning ' pieces though ha ha. Looking forward to the first Dude unboxing , ditch the white gloves for the full monty gardening variety.
gardening gloves could be interesting for a watch review yes!
Just got an education in the waitlist. 2 types of AD. First come first served waitlist or part of the club list. Nomatter what collectors are always on the list. I was told the best thing to do is get on a list then buy used. When you get the new 1-3 years later, sell the used and wear the real. Or keep both
That is a very good strategy, and one which I know some people have adopted
I am having the same Omega 39mm Silver Dial..............Agreed, Super and value for money
My personal attainable grail watch is the SBGX261. Realistically, I know I'd wear it and it doesn't break the bank too much. I earn half-decent money, but have other things I need to spend cash on. I could maybe attain an SBGA465 one day, but I'm not sure I'd wear it often enough to warrant dropping over 4 Grand on a watch? Who knows... I am new to this watch thing and will never say never!
The 261 is a perfect mix of form and function. I had the blue 265 and still kick myself for selling it several years ago
My next watch is a G-Shock dw5600 ordered from Amazon for £50, I can't say I would have described it as a grail before watching this 😉 however it is an iconic design so reasonably worthy I suppose 🤔. I've always defined a grail as something desirable that is always just out of reach, a frustrating concept, so I'm moving over to your definition from now on 🤣
Yes 'out of reach' is frustrating and boring! The Grail needs to be something you can eagerly pursue with a very realistic prospect of acquiring! Good luck with the Gshock. As grails go, that's probably the one to have, such an iconic watch.
Who is your favorite seller in Japan?
Hi Mark congratulations on your new grail watch don't no this model of speed master thanks John.
Thank you John. It could turn out to be a great disappointment, which is a risk with 'buy before you try' watches, but we'll see.
I have several watches withing my budget i lust for and that im gonna collect eventually. My grail however is a watch that is quite rare, expensive and hard to attain which is the Laurent ferrier LF229.01.
I will look that watch up, as it sounds intriguing!
Mark don’t bother these stupid ppl , you have beautiful house !! Amazing Video again 👍🏽
hard to ignore the douche comments, but I will try! Thanks very much!
The 3523.80 is a lovely looking watch. No doubt. But for a guy who owns what you do… GMT, Datejust Palm, multiple Omegas, can you really call this a grail watch? They are a couple of thousand dollars in the US? Surly a grail has to be difficult to obtain, be it because of rarity or price.
Hello, it's a really good point, and one which I night need to address. My original 'grail' was any Rolex, then when I got a Rolex, it was the GMT. Then I got TWO GMTs within 2 weeks from an AD. So my definition of a grail has changed from the perceived unattainable, to simply what I like whether it's easily attainable or not.
GS springdrive diver......
That's a very fine choice!
My Grail Watch is My Next Watch..............Fully Agreed
What's going on at home?are you ok , you seem to be chatting nonsense
And you must be so bored to stay and watch. Go for a walk or something. Do something you enjoy 😉
@@TheRandomWatchDude you are right , I'm terribly bored, but my other comment stands
@Andrew-yy2ye no problem. You have an opinion, and I dont share the same view, but that's OK. We don't have to all agree in life!
