So refreshing to see a positive take on the changes that are coming. I'm excited to see what will come and am very hopeful that it brings more positives that negatives for new and old players.
I think you're absolutely right, the "culling" was a bit more than expected, especially some of the newer models. But if it's for the sake of a new range, and renewed expansion then so be it.
48 hours before the preorders go live and the leaks that have been revealed in the last 24 hours have me absolutely EXCITED for this release. For the record I also play Warhammer 40K and have since 2nd edition came out in the mid 1990s. My first army was the Eldar, now known as the Aeldari. My second army was the Imperial Guard, now known as the Astra Militarum. I have DECADES of codexes and miniatures for those two armies. I'm super excited about the new minis that were revealed recently... and yet... I'm MORE excited about this new edition of Lord of the Rings!!!
It never worries me what miniatures or what new editions of the rules currently exists, because I wrote my own middle earth rules 20 years ago and have never looked back, and I just update them, add new rule bits here and there when I needed to (or if I just want to add some new miniature types to my collection). I knew back then when the GW rules came out two decades ago, that they`d change things, delete things, and all that bad stuff they always do.. which is why I went my own route from the very start :-)
Um... not exactly. Way waaaaay back there was a game called Combat Hex (LOTR Tradable Miniatures Game) by a company called Sabertooth Games (before they were taken over by GW). I took my inspiration from that game and re-wrote it from the ground up, in the end making it unrecognisable from its original format. I did this to suit my personal needs and wishes for a Middle Earth game and simply used the miniatures (and customised my own when I needed something not already covered). I`ve played with this set of rules for over two decades now, and although it has many similarities to Combat Hex and to GW`s Middle Earth game, its pretty much its own creature, in its own right :-)
I have bought a Khand Army like 4 month ago. Took me weeks to remove all mold lines... I really feel gutted... Lets hope that Wainriders get Chariots and the riders fit. If not.... I dont know.... Leaves a really bitter taste. Not the first time GW has done that in a game I play....
@EntmootVideos right. Lets just hope that they are more usuable than the horus heresy and 40k legacy units are. Or that the community sits down and reworks their pointcost if need be.
What’s anoyed me is since starting back up in 2020 camels were impossible to get along with mumak war leader. When I finally had the money to actually buy them and finally get hold of them (after checking weekly for over a year for the war leader) I’d fell off with the game a little and now I won’t even get to build them let alone play them. Just sucks really
I really feel for you man, but worth noting that you will still be able to use them (they may not be as powerful in game of course), but even though they'll be legacy profiles, the profiles released in the Armies of the Lord of the Rings book have been releveant for nigh on six years. There's no reason to suggest MESBG will get a new edition sooner than that, so there's at least a couple years of life in them at the most conservative of estimates.
@ that’s very true. But it’s all dependant on how legacy works and how it interacts with non legacy profiles. Since we don’t know that or if non legacy will just power creep legacy off the bat. Afterall. Why have great legacy profiles what will compete for the spots of new models they can sell to make profit off. But for now it’s all just speculation obviously
Thanks Michael - Louise bought it for me for my Birthday in June... I had to wait until the last few months to wear it so I'm overwearing it now XD Lovely book! Glad to hear i'm not alone in my new found optimism!
This is exactly what I was thinking. It's going to be really hard to maintain the ranges of Khand, Dunland and Far Harad if new stuff appears in the movie similarly named or themed. The issue could be big like rights 'we won't licence this movie whilst you continue to sell these things', or it could be business 'its going to be harder to sell 2 sets of aestetics for the same stuff, lets cull and refresh', or it could simply be practical, 'we really want to release stuff themed directly with the new movie but we don't have the capacity to sell so many products, so lets cull competing product lines and double down with WotR (I hate this acronym btw, but its very popular). I think this should give people hope that the cull wasn't for 'nothing', atleast for these armies, still have no idea why Erestor has to go! package him with Gildor and keep more people happy! 🤣🤣
Ultimately those ranges were rarely in stock anyway, people (like me) used to complain about that. Personally I’d love for them to have expanded their production capability to be able to increase their offering year by year, keeping the old stuff in stock and for sale - but GW stopped doing that years ago. I just hope that these beloved ranges are replaced with equally good minis. The Perry sculpts were always so well designed.
@@EntmootVideos I think hoping for expanded production capacity is probably a fools hope. I don't think it will ever get a bigger output unless sales drastically increase, but for that to happen I would imagine both WotR and Hunt for Gollum would have to do so well in the box office for GW to see a suitable increase in sales, but even then, pragmatically they know it would then only last a year or so until the 2nd new Live Action film comes out and GW production lead times are a year so would they even bother winding up to then wind down? For us though, having 3 new movies and atleast another season of RoP in the next 3 - 4 years is awesome.
It'll probably drop in price, so if you're not desperate it'd be a great present! But it is well orth having, and it's building my excitement for the movie!
Your'e right that the 'locations' look great, but the characters look awful, in costumes that would never have been designed for 'real world' use in Middle Earth/on a film set and replicating the visual language of the LotR movies. And GW will mostly be making minis of those characters...
So far we have gotten new heroes that look like they fit in better with aos then mesbg. And poor communication from GW. Personally i think this will go the way of the hobbit movies... Still I'm hopeful about the normal warrior boxes eventually getting an long overdue upgrade. If the new rohan warriors sell wel.
But Harry why look for hope when we can just be unremittingly negative? Are you telling me that the idea isn't to fend off any new players with our salty salty tears?
I think it’s more that these models are being removed from sale that’s bothering people. it’s that sense of a future hobby opportunity being taken away and replaced with something they’re not sure of. Ultimately nobody likes change
@@EntmootVideos fair enough. Wouldn't be the first time that models are retired from the range. I think compared to other GW games MESBG players are way too tied to having "the proper model". I don't expect my Gildor to disappear from the table.

Exactly, positive thinking 🥰

Sounds cool! Does it function like MESBG?

Ugh, that is awful, so sorry for you! Here’s hoping 🤞🏼 But you’ll still be able to use legacy models in most places!

Book is written by Chris smith so we know it’s going to be good! Original writer of the LOTR weapons and warfare
Nice! I hadn’t made the connection! I assumed he was a weta bod like the previous ones ☺️
Shout out to Lincoln! I went to Uni there! Great little city.
As soon as I saw the opening shot I was like 'I know that street!'. Lincoln is nice, it's quaint like York.
Lovely city!
Watch us get the snow trolls before the hill trolls 🙄😂
😂
Loved the t-shirt BTW. I've got the Visual Companion but not going to delve too much into it just yet. And I remain hopeful too.

My suspicion was that most of the legacy stuff was canned due to new in-universe designs coming out
There’s hope!!

I’m not sure I agree, so far the minis we’ve had previews of have looked awesome! The dunlendings in particular are outstanding!
@@EntmootVideos All that armour just looks so anime! Not like anything that could have come into existence in the real world!

Really weird stance to feel it's wrong to be negative about the game/GW. While being more than happy to be negative about your fellow wargamers.
As Aragon tells that kid who eventually gets cut down by uruk hai off screen... "There is always hope."
i dont understand why people are so worked up. just use the models as proxies. except for chariots. chariots are effd.
