All music skills appart, Claypool always surprise me by this amazing poetry and the whole artistic vision he put in all his project. He is way more than a wonderful musician.
Yeah I went to school with Les Claypool we had music class together he was the best basis player at that time that I knew and I have to say that he was the best in the class the whole class. well looks like you're doing pretty good keep up the good work Johnny washington signing off
Why isn't anyone talking about the magnificent inclusion of the cello in this song? It sounds so great! It makes me wonder why they used a slide guitar over a cello on the album.
Right! it suits the song amazingly. As usual Les Claypool, Primus, and all that is MUCH better live than studio, its something different every time when its live. They're just incredible versatile musicians
Les's diverse number of sounds and his use of them, and how he executes them so excellently is how he's one of the best bass players in his modern day, but hey, thats just my opinion.
The whole set is on my channel. Back in the day I could only upload 10 minutes of video at a time. So I had to find breaks in between songs. Hope you Enjoy!
I don't see myself outgrowing Les and his music, whether it be Primus, Oysterhead, Sausage, or his various solo endeavors. There's just so much variety and diversity with everything, I can't really get comfortable enough to get bored lol. We'll see in 10 years, but I wouldn't be surprised if 10 years from this very moment I'm listening to Lights in the Sky or Riddles are Abound Tonight or One Better or Jellikit... I'm sure you got me by now lol.
I don't know how you snagged this video but it HAS to be from where coolmusicnetwork was videotaping. Regardless from where it came from, it's super awesome.
Hes using a Korg AX300b preset called "Funky Diva" (consists of Octave, Distortion, Auto Wah, and "sphs-r") made in the 90s...i use the same one as Les with settings in my Cover video of this song here: th-cam.com/video/d_1pXJZ6bXc/w-d-xo.html
Anyone recognize what gear he's running in his rack mount behind him at :25 ? It looks like a Mark Furman power amp is on the top and below that I have no idea. It dosent seem that Les Claypool is plugged into it. I also ask cause he dosent seem to be playing through his Ampeg heads anymore.
At the time of this performance he was using regular Stage Poweramps with a tubed Preamp going into it. He would plug in wirelessly direct or cable. However, he hss gone back and forth since then with gear cuz the dudes got massive ADD with gear.....hahaha

@mrmonstercock10 no..... hillel slovak was the guitarist....... he died though...... jack irons was the oringinal drummer, trust me im a huge rhcp fan, and primus fan ofcourse. oh and btw, i accidently put oringinal guitarist instead of drummer jack irons was the oringinal drummer for rhcp

@@JangoMike might not be the best idea to hunt down gear like that. He's basically using the envelope filter only here. I for example use a q Tron plus in the BP mode (where it affects the mid-range alot) and have it just at the edge of breaking into the higher frequencies where when you plug the string the attack gives this really high sweep shortly. Just gotta play around with it a bit. I love envelope filters and some are really versatile. Works really great on stuff like amanitas aswell and many other songs.
@@Homanjer Thats cool your having some fun exploring and playing with the many possible scenarios you can get with your effects....however, i literally have the settings and pedals direct from Uncle Les himself
@@JangoMike yeah what I'm saying is that's it's probably not worth for most people to go out and buy that gear. Some of the stuff he has like that boomerang thingy is really hard to come by. And other things that are still easily available are really expensive. I mean I would love to try out the Mesa Boogie stuff he's using right now but it's literally cheaper for me to buy an ampeg svt-7pro stack right now. Which also is too expensive for my needs honestly

I have disliked this video, it is because i am a member of the "At least one dislike" organization, it is obvious what kind of organization it is. Now that i have fulfilled my duty i have to say that i did it with an aching heart, this man is a musical genius, i am forever in love with his music.
That I live in a world where Les Claypool is underappreciated makes me sad.
It is a maddening thing, but let’s just own the fact that we’re not mindless, musically deprived lemmings!
@@guzziguy2011 and not in shiny metal boxes
The psychedelic king of bass.
God damn these cats are cool, fun and bad ass artists. Anyone watching this has superior taste in music, art and creativity. Cheers!
Wow ol' man Les stomping around like its 1993 when the reprise kicked in!
All music skills appart, Claypool always surprise me by this amazing poetry and the whole artistic vision he put in all his project. He is way more than a wonderful musician.

"Mom one day I'm gonna play Xylophone in a famous rock band!"
Mom: "That's nice son".

didn't he claim to be self - taught tho?
I want to believe this so much, I dont have any reason not to, what was Les claypool like I fucking love him!
NICE SONG
This performance deserves a DVD release alone. Amazing Post!!

2 years late but, Warren Haynes. That's why😉😋
"Cello! It's a Bass"
Slide guitar sounds much better with it but they managed to make the cello work well here.

@@thepyroking1236 I respectfully disagree I think the cello really fits with that deep south vide les claypool has.
Love the suits 😍 👌
The world could learn a lot from Claypool about being yourself and to Hell with trying to be what everyone else expects you to be!
I like this look on Les.
What a beautiful world we live in.

Has anyone else noticed that the ending (7:02-7:25) is part of the breakdown in Winonas Big Brown Beaver? 😀

Day 947: Still watching. Still lovin' it.
My thumbs arent big enough for how awesome this is
Well, here I am again, listening and watching my favorite again!!
Good lord, just realized I was here at this performance back in aught-nine. What, 12 years ago!? Don’t think I slept for three straight days.

Les is such a great bass player.
the lyrics and overall theme of the song makes me think it would fit perfectly into a Woody Woodpecker episode from the 1940's 🤣🤣🤣awesome 🤘

i like how classy he is
There was some of wynona's big brown beaver around the 7:20 mark too.
That part made me shout with joy to an empty house. The song is bitchin too
Making him the only person ever to use that effect with something approaching regularity.
I always said a Sharp dressed Man and can always f****** jam like a mother
It's hard to get tired of this, but I am trying...
Does anyone know how les gets that specific sort of distortion on his bass? It's so funky!
