Man, WWE booked the nWo so poorly. It still pisses me off when rewatching it. Such a missed opportunity. Scott Hall was one of my absolute favorite wrestlers of all time. So sad that he's gone.
The reason the nWo wasn't booked properly in WWE is two good reasons: 1) this was milked to death in WCW and no longer a fresh idea and 2) it was promoted as a separate organization in WCW which was organic and interesting and in the WWE, it was just another faction.
Yeah that was really the beginning of the end for me with being a WWE fan. I couldn't decide if it was politicking (Hogan and Nash refusing to do the job), or punishments for his continued demons, or a combination of both.
Scott Hall always acted as the top nWo fall guy even back in WCW. It was just storytelling and Scott didn't have a problem with losing. It has nothing to do with politics or punishment, Scott was there to make money and put on a show for the fans. He wasn't a mark for himself like most top guys.
@@quentinkaasa47 That's kind of my point in regards to politics. Hogan was notorious for not wanting to lose. Nash could be bad about it himself. Vince wasn't going to have guys like Austin and Rock losing repeatedly to nWo guys. That left the willing Hall as the guy to take the fall.
To be fair, all three guys at this point were past their physical prime and just couldn’t deliver like they used to 5/6 years earlier, but Scott did try. Rest In Peace to “Da Bad Guy”.

It was a writing team led by Stephanie McMahon. It was during this time period that Russo was brought back briefly as a consultant. He wanted to restart the invasion with the real WCW stars and Vince sent him home.
It’s really sad we lost Scott Hall so soon. He was a legendary wrestler and his ring psychology was one of a kind. I just wanted to point out that I love you have Beenie Man - Who Am I as the background song for this. I love that song.
I am extremely saddened by the news. Scott was definitely the best intercontinental champion ever. Thank you for a honest review and another great video.
Scott sold that stunner perfectly at 6:46. It's a shame he's gone. RIP to the man who looks like Elvis. Keep throwing those toothpicks up in the afterlife.
You forgot about Jerry The King Lawlers hilarious commentary during the match. He was hilarious as the heel commentator and heel sympathizer "If Scott Hall says thats Stone Cold Steve Austin, who am I to argue?" And his arguing with JR over the Dudley Dog/Acid Drop "Oh stop it JR, you know he was going for a stunner" You have GOT to comment on that. That is such a missed opportunity to talk about how Jerry The King Lawler sells the match
Spike Dudley, the wrestling world owes him one heck of a thank you. That little fellow takes a beating like a champ and can make any opponent look like a absolute killer.
For as hyped as we all were for it, the NWO didn't do much in WWE. The only thing I really remember them doing was hitting Austin's knee with a 'cinder block'. Then before we knew it, Hogan was face, Nash was injured, Hall was gone and the whole thing just stopped.
The whole business with the WCW and nWo in WWF feels like just cleanup after Vince bought WCW irl, writing a conclusion for a story that had already ended so Vince and Hogan could look for their next conquest after burying the nWo to put the Attitude Era WWF stars over.
They started real strong tho beating up the Rock, ramming the ambulance, and spray painting Austin, but I wanted nWo to last longer definitely...but without the main players...it just couldn't last.
RIP Scott Hall....You will be missed and thank you for all you did to entertain us with great moments and matches also thank you giving us the nWo and Crow Sting
This is pretty sad. I remember thinking Hall vs Austin at Mania was pretty underrated but maybe I'm misremembering and need to watch it again. Even though it is a money match it does seem a bit unfair cause maybe Austin can't take the Razor's Edge because of his neck. Hall said in interviews that he was really trying to kick his demons before Mania but once he heard how things were gonna be booked he just gave up and kept drinking. Guess I'll rewatch the TNA Ring of the Hawk. At least DDP helped his last decade of life be a much smoother one. R.I.P. Elvis
Dude even as a kid I remember thinking Austin fighting Scott Hall was weird (no disrespect to Scott hall of course) but I remember thinking “why isn’t he fighting hogan or Nash”
Something I always thought was cool is I heard Scott Hall call that Fall Away slam the "sack o' shit" in a shoot interview lol Tony Schiavone even called it an "SOS" slam lol
His 2002 run was really bad but it was cool seeing him again. The Outsiders could have had a decent tag team run if things had gone their way in 2002, added new life to the belts working with the younger guys where they could have actually been themselves funny/cool. Not so scripted.
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking to myself, Scott moved real slow and was sloppy. He was actually moving around much better in the first half of his TNA run. The one thing I didn't like about the NWO run (aside from booking) was seeing Scott work most of the matches. You have 3 guys. They booked Nash to mostly interfere. Hogan was past his best in terms of mobility and Scott, the worker of the 3, was also on the physical decline. There's no way this was going to work.
Exactly, All 3 men were on the bad side of age and wear & tear by this point not to mention Hall looked the most sluggish and lethargic of the 3 probably due to his personal issues no less.
X-Pac should have been added to the group much sooner. He could do the fast-paced work and take most of the bumps and he was a heat magnet at the time with the live crowds. He was perfect for the nWo at that time but wasn't used right either.
Haha forgot about that Crash match. I had that on tape. Hall finally got all his shit in like the abdominal stretch and actually set up his Razor's Edge properly with a super backdrop like he always did.
Hall was my favorite wrestler. I remember me and a buddy used to walk around in our late teens and I would always be like "Hey Yo survey time" and he referred to himself as Big Sexy. Good times man.
Scott Hall honestly left a huge impression in professional wrestling. Without him and his ideas many Superstars would never be able to be pushed as far as they did. Ex. Crow/Emo Sting.
This was a nice video still was cool to see Scott before he left wwe even though they ruined his run , also cool to know we are getting a Brock Lesnar video and that he's the new ring of the hawk champion
Respect to Hall for getting in the meat grinder one more time to give the nWo as much of a send-off as Vince could muster and put over the WWF Attitude superstars like Stone Cold. 👊
4:33 Scott Hall also use Chokeslam during WCW era. Always love to see he using it (Also Vampiro) And he also use Abdominal Stretch in WCW. I remember that he use on Konnan while also drinking alcohol that Virgil gave him.
1:11 For context: This was the climax of the feud of Vince & Ric Flair being co-owners of the WWE, and Vince was furious that Ric Flair was basically running into the ground, with Mr. McMahon believing that if there’s ANYONE who should kill WWE, it should be himself *insert your own punchline here*
Your videos are cool and all. But, The fall away slam is one of his signature moves. Stone cold and the rock hit the spine Buster every match. The fall away slam is definitely a more impressive move because you're physically throwing the man over your head.
"Tell me you're not local to Barrow without telling me you're not local to Barrow" "Barrow-in-Finesse" Sorry, just got a chuckle out of me. Also just surprised to hear it mentioned at all :P
I remember this very well, and I knew Scott had had a rough few years leading to this point but was hoping he'd be in a better place in his own mind by then--it sadly was not the case, as he was at a very low point here. For that matter so was Austin, as he was burned out and had just about had it with the business...I really wish they had not done the segment with Hall kidnapped by Austin and him being taunted with beer..I wonder if that didnt trigger him even more...the WM match with Austin wasnt bad, it was passable, but coulda been so much more had both men been in a better space and more into it. Vince did the right thing letting Hall go sadly. He was in no shape to be a full time wrestler by then. I'm just glad that even tho Hall had a few more years careening toward bottom after this time, that DDP and Jake Roberts helped him as much as they did and helped him get to the HOF as well as live about another full decade he likely would not have had otherwise. Rest easy, Bad Guy, and thank you for everything, all the memories you gave me and so many of us here. * flicks toothpick in his honor *

wwe has had the most consistent booking strategy for 20 years- this guy vs that guy in various matches, dq finishes, and tags for 2 months until 1 is fired
I remember the feeling of seeing NWO in WWE. Man things like this don't happen anymore and I wish the younger fans knew what it felt like when the business was truly on fire. Everyone watched. Wcw in WWE was prob the last big edge of the seat moment they will ever have. I haven't watch in years. To me nothing will ever be like it was then. Stars everywhere and huge storylines.
Dude spot on, that feeling I got when I saw them...it still gives me goosebumps when I rewatch that moment...there will never be another moment quite like that. The fans watching were also sooo into it, you could feel that energy.
I think what's cool about the Scott Hall vs Rock match is that Rock was probably marking out since he was a fan of Scott and even modeled his punches after Scott's.
Marky, I've been thinking this for a while but I feel 2002-2003 is a wildly undertapped section of wrestling history. Hint hint nudge nudge. We can watch as everyone roids out including Hogan.
X-Pac had 21 matches in WCW (not including house shows or dark matches) which surprised me, so yeah. I'd love to see that. It certainly doesn't feel like he had 21 matches considering he was there at the height of the nWo.
Recently thinking about how little Hall (and even Nash) did during that era. Funny enough, I was inspired to look it up after Raw Deal made cards for them as a team. And yes, it includes a fall-away slam.
I honestly never knew Hall was around for the Raw Ruthless Aggression set. Damnit Hall in the RA Era could have really been something. Imagine if after the nWo disbanded and Hall hadn't been on the Plane Ride from Hall, they started playing vignettes for Razor Ramon again? That would have been something
Scott was on borrowed time at this point. He was a 43 year old baby boomer during this run in the WWF. His physical prime had passed him and he still had a big drinking and pill problem. It was shortly after this when Waltman was released because of his drug problem too. Scott was never going to last long enough for there to be a Razor return. It's telling that after his last WWF run, Scott never again had a lengthy stint in any promotion.
It's hard watching this. Hall still looks in good physical shape, but knowing his other struggles, you can see why WWE couldn't really allow him to go over. These matches against Austin, i just get the feeling they were hoping that he would get sober, because if he did, it could have been a really good series of matches. Unfortunately, that didn't happen until much later. The NWO in WWE was terribly booked and never should have happened.
If you know of alcoholism you can see he's not in great shape here, yes his torso looks better than the average man, but you can see the bloating around his face unshaven dropping eyes even his torso was bloating at times here due to the alcohol. Not having a go at him I understand what he was going through, just saying that even here you can see the slight hints his issues were affecting his physical shape.
These matches could have been way better but this was the era where Austin refused to lose or look weak. He left shortly after because he was supposed to lose to Lesnar.

It was a writing team led by Stephanie McMahon. It was during this time period that Russo was brought back briefly as a consultant. He wanted to restart the invasion with the real WCW stars and Vince sent him home.
Having marvelous me playing in the background was an amazing idea marky
It’s really sad we lost Scott Hall so soon. He was a legendary wrestler and his ring psychology was one of a kind.
I just wanted to point out that I love you have Beenie Man - Who Am I as the background song for this. I love that song.
Yeah, a video about 2002 with music from a big 1998 single, takes me back to the days of The Box and Hot 97's better years as a radio station.
@@NJ973201 I’m a huge Drum & Bass guy, so Beenie Man and other emcees from the UK always hold importance to me. It’s fun music!
I am extremely saddened by the news. Scott was definitely the best intercontinental champion ever. Thank you for a honest review and another great video.
Thank you so much for putting this awesome video up much respect. Rest in peace Scott Hall.
Scott sold that stunner perfectly at 6:46. It's a shame he's gone. RIP to the man who looks like Elvis. Keep throwing those toothpicks up in the afterlife.
You forgot about Jerry The King Lawlers hilarious commentary during the match. He was hilarious as the heel commentator and heel sympathizer
"If Scott Hall says thats Stone Cold Steve Austin, who am I to argue?"
And his arguing with JR over the Dudley Dog/Acid Drop
"Oh stop it JR, you know he was going for a stunner"
You have GOT to comment on that. That is such a missed opportunity to talk about how Jerry The King Lawler sells the match
I may not have watched him at all when he was still wrestling but it's always sad to lose another legend R.I.P Razor Ramon 😢
R.I.P Scott Hall. The master of the Fall Away Slam which I think he called 'The Last Call'.
That was JBL who called it that. Hall called it Sack of Shit
To those who don't know, Scott Hall gave Sting the idea for his Crow gimmick back in 96
You're getting good at this tribute thing marky.
RIP Scott hall
Everyone sells the SCSA stunner like it's a super finisher and Stone Cold just goes dead fish when he takes one 🤣
Hogan in 1996: "These 2 guys are the future of wrestling!!"
6 years later: both guys can barely wrestle anymore
2002 Hall gave us the greatest stunner sell of all time!!
@@quentinkaasa47 X-Pac was still going through the "X-Pac heat" among the crowd. It was on the last leg but it was still there.
Haha forgot about that Crash match. I had that on tape. Hall finally got all his shit in like the abdominal stretch and actually set up his Razor's Edge properly with a super backdrop like he always did.
Thank you for this. I don't know what it is but this shit is hitting me hard for wte reason. Can't believe he's gone. R.i.p Scott
If only TH-cam allowed me to give you 2k likes. It is very true what you've just said about Scott Hall. Goodbye, Scott Hall :(
The stunner at 6:45 is the cleanest stunner take of all time. Hall sold that better than anyone.
I agree
That six-man Tag Team match was actually pretty good, in my opinion.
The face Hall makes when he's about to Fall away slam Crash is like "yep, I'm doing it again'
This was a nice video still was cool to see Scott before he left wwe even though they ruined his run , also cool to know we are getting a Brock Lesnar video and that he's the new ring of the hawk champion
yes for X-Pac in WCW! The Hawk himself said he couldn't 'cut the mustard' and surely there's no one better to put that to the test
Say goodbye to the bad guy! Loved him!!! He will be missed. Loved how he sold the stunner.
Marky D, I commend your honest grade for Scott Hall. His booking was terrible doubled with the personal problems he had. Rest in Peace, Hall.
Respect to Hall for getting in the meat grinder one more time to give the nWo as much of a send-off as Vince could muster and put over the WWF Attitude superstars like Stone Cold. 👊
4:33 Scott Hall also use Chokeslam during WCW era. Always love to see he using it (Also Vampiro)
And he also use Abdominal Stretch in WCW. I remember that he use on Konnan while also drinking alcohol that Virgil gave him.
Scott always called the Fall Away Slam the Sack o' Shit.
Came to comment that. Glad someone raised it.
1:11 For context: This was the climax of the feud of Vince & Ric Flair being co-owners of the WWE, and Vince was furious that Ric Flair was basically running into the ground, with Mr. McMahon believing that if there’s ANYONE who should kill WWE, it should be himself
*insert your own punchline here*
Hall's selling of a stunner is probably my favorite sell job of the move. Maybe the truck is better but hall's look so good
I still find it funny how Scott Hall's wearing his nWo Wolfpac attire & not his nWo Black & White attire against The Rock.
Nice to see Barrow-in-Furness get a mention. RIP Scott Hall.
Your videos are cool and all. But, The fall away slam is one of his signature moves. Stone cold and the rock hit the spine Buster every match. The fall away slam is definitely a more impressive move because you're physically throwing the man over your head.
Hey Marky D, I haven't seen your finish, but I'm sure it's cool. I can't wait to kick out of it...😉 #ripscotthall
Scott Hall was one of the best when it comes to selling the stunner! 6:46 was one of his best ones! RIP SCOTT HALL💯🔥💪😢
Same been watching his shoot interviews for year's...dude can tell a story
"Tell me you're not local to Barrow without telling me you're not local to Barrow"
"Barrow-in-Finesse"
Sorry, just got a chuckle out of me.
WWE treated him like he was already a has-been; shame on them 😤
R.I.P. Scott Hall 🙏🏿🙌🏾
Because he was back in 2002
No he was not a has-been. He was still better than 90% of the roster. The terrible booking and writing brought him down.
@@joen8529 In 2002 Scott hall was a has been and he was not even in top 10 wrestlers at that time in 2002. He was in bad shape mentally and emotionally. But I will say the dude could still work pretty darn well in 2002. He was a shell of his former self let’s not get it twisted.
@@Whasteen Nonsense. He was ready to go and performing excellently, and they, the company, failed him.
@@joen8529 I agree & it's out there some find it easy to blame Hall because of his personal life
X Pac was Syxx in NWO, He had 21 matches
Would love to see a ring of the hawk video on his wcw run
Any reason why he had kane mask???
@@steezy7460 he injured Kane in storyline but Kane was legit hurt so X-PAC stole the mask to have heat. Kane would eventually return I believe after SunmerSlam and eventually tag with Hurricane.
Great vid as always mate. Much love from the beautiful Barrow in Furness.
R.I.P Bad Guy. I still can’t believe it.
Rest well, Razor. It's been a bash.
Hey Yo, This is one that is going to be with me for awhile, i loved Razor, Rest easy my friend.
Would love to see a video on X-PAC’s WCW run
Can't be Ring of the Hawk though, too many matches

My all time fave, can't believe he's gone 😔
You have low standards
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 you are a clown with NO Standards.
He was my favourite in wwf as razor Ramon. When he came back in 2002, i had high hopes but it was like he was an afterthought and the company/fans were not that invested in him. It was sad.
wwe has had the most consistent booking strategy for 20 years- this guy vs that guy in various matches, dq finishes, and tags for 2 months until 1 is fired
Was not expecting the bookshelf riddim playing in the background.. good shit
We'll miss you, Bad Guy, but we know you're here in spirit. #NWO4Life
I remember the feeling of seeing NWO in WWE.
Rip Scott Hall but on a side note if they made the fall away slam his finisher he might have been unstoppable
I like the beenie man instrumental in the background!
Hard to believe his WM X8 match with Austin will be 20 years old tomorrow.
Wish I was just a quarter as cool as him... Fuck what a legend
I think what's cool about the Scott Hall vs Rock match is that Rock was probably marking out since he was a fan of Scott and even modeled his punches after Scott's.
RIP Scott Hall, The Bad Guy will surely be missed.
Side note Hawk, Can you do the 2005 Run of Tatanka? I think it'd work for Ring of Hawk
I'm sad he is gone. His 2002 run I give a C not too many good matches but he was funny on the mic
I get the feeling that up there with small guys doing the Samoa drop, MarkyD hates the fall away slam
Thank you for making this.
Marky, I've been thinking this for a while but I feel 2002-2003 is a wildly undertapped section of wrestling history. Hint hint nudge nudge.
We can watch as everyone roids out including Hogan.
For Smackdown and other promotions, absolutely. RAW was meh at best
X-Pac had 21 matches in WCW (not including house shows or dark matches) which surprised me, so yeah. I'd love to see that.
It certainly doesn't feel like he had 21 matches considering he was there at the height of the nWo.
plus he is a founding member of NWO and DX
He was beat up most of his run. Makes sense that he was barely on TV
Only match i remember is him vs eddie ladder match
Man it's been a day and a half and I miss him so much already although I never met him... survey says: one more for the BAD GUY
Syxx in WCW ROH? He's one of my all time favorites so I'm all for it!
To be honest I didn't think he had less than 25 TV matches, but if he goes under maximum then hell yeah.
Never thought we’d get to see so much of Stone Cold on Ring of The Hawk. Can’t say it was good, though.
Please do X PAC in WCW, he was one of my favourite and underrated part of the 90’s and early 2000 wrestling scene
