Wrestling Bios Presents: The WCW Debut of The Outsiders
When Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were offered a considerable amount of money to jump from Vince McMahon's WWF to Ted Turner's WCW, the two popular superstars couldn't say no. A lucrative offer was made to bring Razor Ramon and Diesel to World Championship Wrestling, and the future of professional wrestling would be changed forever when Nash and Hall made their WCW debuts in 1996.
The Outsiders were booked as invaders from the WWF who had come to WCW to take the company over. This storyline, inspired by Eric Bischoff's recent trips to Japan, would really catch on with wrestling fans of the 90s. Vince McMahon, however, was not happy with how his former superstars had been portrayed on WCW television shows, and the WWF would bring WCW to court over the creative booking of The Outsiders in WCW. Vince McMahon's lawsuit would attempt to end The Outsiders and nWo angle for good.
This mini documentary from Wrestling Bios takes a look at Kevin Nash and Scott Hall's WCW debut in 1996. Topics covered include:
01:38 - Razor Ramon leaves the WWF
03:20 - Diesel prepares to leave Vince McMahon in 1996
    05:30 - Eric Bischoff's nWo inspiration
06:56 - The WCW debut of Scott Hall
13:01 - The WWF attempts to sue WCW over Nash and Hall
15:31 - The WWF strikes back with the "fake" Razor Ramon and Diesel
    Much More!

@@adampruitt9211 exactly, they didn't just play it out, they played it out til everything collapsed into ground zero. I agree, the big 3 was where it was at, they were cool with Waltman (Syxx), since he was in the kliq and 6th member or whatever, after that they were getting outta hand. Double digits was straight overkill, then having 2 NWOs and even a LWO was a bit extreme like they were trying to do some gang wars and race wars at the same time.

That better be blindly ignorant sarcasm because, no matter how deep & how long ("That's what she said" ~snerk~) the parking lot ambush was written into the script of the New World Order's hostile takeover narrative, you simply cannot FAKE, stage/choreograph or else merely phone in/go through the motions of getting actively thrown rather roughly into the side of a parked semi trailer truss & subsequently crash to the ground in a crumpled heap (supposedly coughing up your digestive system in the process from force of impact) due to genuine physics & real world gravity being scientific things that openly exist within real-time in actual reality.

15:15 That is the first time I've ever heard that.
That is very interesting. How they could've legally gotten that written into a settlement year's before WCW ended up going up for sale is amazing to me.
It also gives amazing insight into the psychology Vince used in his ratings war, and what kind of carrot he had dangling in front of him if he could push WCW into such financial turmoil that they would need to sell.
I can't tell how that provision in a lawsuit settlement changes my perception of everything that happened.
That lawsuit provision, and the moves made by WWE afterwards, deserves it's own video.

This legitimately may have been WCW's finest hour. From Hall's selling a WWF invasion, to Schiavone's selling of shock and security, to Enos and Robert Parker being bewildered as heels, to the camera angles...it was all done to perfection. The WWF element of it pretty much dissipated within a week or two, but this moment...this was one of the very last times wrestling felt REAL. And they sold the illusion to everyone outside of a few IWC dorks with their Meltzer dirtsheets and Doritos dust on their shirts.

It would've been great to have seen him as WWF champion as a kid but then he went to WCW and started coasting and taking a back seat to everyone else... On screen Hall was basically Nash's right hand man. I wish he had a bigger role in WCW but I can understand not wanting to push someone to the top with drug issues. I'm sure it wasn't a problem for him though, he was just happy to there with his boys. The Outsiders storyline was still great and is definitely one of the few successful things WCW got right from 96-01.

That’s the real reason why Vince and Undertaker buried DDP when he went to the WWF. He was instrumental in bringing Razor and Diesel back to WCW. It had nothing to do with hugs or planning matches ahead of time.

17:05 you fail to mention how this also shows you how desperate and foolish the powers within WCW were and how Hall/Nash milked all sides for whatever they wanted. The mid-late 90s were a party for them lol

I saw a shoot interview with Scott Hall where he said the breaking point in negotiations with Vince was merchandise sales. Wrestlers rarely got a cut of merchandising in those days (especially in the WWF), and Vince flat-out refused when Hall brought up getting a cut of merch sales in lieu of a pay raise or guaranteed contract. Incidentally, Cultaholic did a video focusing on WWF’s copyright lawsuit a couple months back, I highly recommend it.

No. If they dont leave then there is no curtain call and Triple would have stayed book to win the 96 KOTR and Stone cold would have likely remained a midcarder and without the Austin vs McMahon rivalry WWF would have been dead in the water before the new millennium.

I would argue that if Vince paid them it would have been a mistake. yeah on one hand you would have still had those two but it may have cost the rise of others. if they had stayed in WWF maybe people like Austin and the Rock wouldnt have gotten a real shot. never know though. it happened that way for a reason I suppose.

at 17:00 when Vince faked Ramon and Diesel wrestlers, which forced WCW into paying Nash and Hall *more* money because WCW were scared they might lose them -- Bios says Vince shot himself in the foot. Actually, in a tiny way, he helped to make WCW spend more money than it had to, and inadvertently he helped his company.

I was always a WCW guy. I started getting into wrestling pretty seriously when Hogan and macho Man went to WCW. I followed the WWF a lot so when they jumped WCW was the show for me. All my friends still watched the WWF and I remember going to school telling everyone that Razor Ramon was on WCW nitro and no one believed me. The next week everyone watched and was blown away. Then a week later Diesel showed up and all the WWF fans left as WCW became must watch TV.
