I heard a great anthropological nugget recently, that “Human beings are story-shaped creatures;” amplifying the profound notion that the Holy One chose story as the principal means to convey Himself and the deepest veins of reality. As such, story-tellers as image-bearers par excellance!! Whoa to any of us who underreckon the potency of the story. Jesus the parable sower knew this well! Nicely done Bryce, and what a great analogy of fixating on a pointing finger and missing what’s pointed at…shades of Plato’s Cave methinks.
I’ve been loving these video essays, Bryce, and, as a father-to-be who’s meditating on how story can help me lead my family, this one especially hit home.
