I've been taking an online Classic Children's Literature class with Hillsdale College. The introductory classes address your question of what makes a good story. You are tapping into a big need today - stories that are gifts of wonder - stories that can take the reader or viewer to another place - a place that mixes reality with imagination. May God bless your new adventure!

Thank you Mrs. Kuo! I hope you're enjoying that class. It sounds interesting.

So many beloved films and books from the past few decades dealt with the theme of "finding yourself" as an ultimate end, and I think that many have tried to walk that path only to find the emptiness and despair George MacDonald wrote about. Without the humility to look outwards and upwards in wonder, it's almost impossible to notice the Transcendent. I find myself returning to this video every so often. Even at three minutes, there's a lot to contemplate.

I think the paradox is that you find yourself by looking outward. Introspection is important to a point, but its hard to "find yourself" when your "self" was never meant to be "found" divorced from a higher reality.

@@xcurvatus Great one. That was my introduction to Joaquim Phoenix. Speaking of him, Joker was the first movie I thought of when you mentioned all the despair in films these days. I'd love a change from that!
