Premium eco can sometimes be had for some pretty reasonable prices, but I've never a desirable route for business class sold for anything palatable. Right now, roundtrip YVR to PVG bookings for next fall are $2400 CAD premium economy. Pretty solid and well worth it for a 12.5 hr flight! Guess the business class price? $7k.
I've flown Air Canada Premium Economy only on Domestic flights a fair number of times. On every flight, over 2 hours, drinks/alcohol/wine were complimentary. Also all meals are the SAME as Signature ( Business ) class, but less choice. Where you get four choices of entree's in Signature Class, you get only two win Premium Economy, but those two, are also on the Signature Class menu. Again, domestically, I've never seen anything served in a plastic cup, ceramic and glass only, and of course as mentioned no paper or plastic plates.
AC might be worse than AA, and that's saying something. Even quick 1.5-hr flights by Japan Airlines or Delta have free beverage and snack service for economy.
Fly premium economy exclusively on intercontinental flights ranging from 7-17 hours on Airbus (330,340,350) and Boeing (747,777,787) on AC LH Swiss PR ANA. By far the best is ANA which includes lounge access. Main selling point for me is the extra space though I'm only 5'9 and not having to worry about finding space in the overhead bin for carry on luggage. Aircraft makes a difference with the newer A350 and Dreamliner being just a bit more comfortable. Still have to try Eva and Emirates which I understand are the class leaders.
@@Joeym1655 I've flown EVA air to/from Singapore via Taipei twice on business class. Their inflight service was very good, with respectful and efficient attendents unlike Air Canada's. Their meals were excellent. However, they have horrible IFE, not in the least comparable to Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific or Emirates (best IFE). However, EVA Air is the cheapest, so I guess that compensates for the poor IFE, so I didn't mind.
Great and thorough review! I found the experience not that elevated, especially the lack of a truly double-width arm rest between the seats. Westjet premium was much better all around!
It might be just OK as far as premium economy but Air Canada economy is terrible and I at 6'2" cannot fit into economy so this works for me. But... it could be a lot better.
What a strange conclusion, recommending business class over premium economy. Business class tends to be 3x the price of premium economy.

Researching a return trip from Brisbane to Vancouver so it seems to worth for the long haul, IMHO, thanks for the information.

I'm not bent on flying Air Canada, but sometimes there's no choice. Like flying nonstop to Venice and Zurich, Air Canada is the only choice.

Funny had to pay for my meal in a box and nobody could open it so was total waste and it was quite expensive
what was your route? the only meals you have to pay for is if it's a domestic flight. International is always free
