  • I put this video together more than a year ago and just sat on it. I couldn't convince myself to post it. It's so outside of the stuff I've posted on this channel before. But whatever. It's not like I post things here regularly anyway!
I made a ball jointed doll! This is basically a diary/summary of my process from modeling to printing, and finishing.
You can find the 'garage kit' version of this available on my Etsy here: gamevetz.etsy....
NellaCuriosity is the one who helped me out by demo-ing the hip and thighs of a bunch of her dolls. You can find that video here: • BJD Joints: Thighs and...

I would love to see a second vid walking us through your sculpting process. You've got a beautiful amount of knowledge and the variations of doll was very interesting!~ I would also love a supply list - I don't know much about 3D printers and I'd love to learn more. Great job on this video, I hope to see more! ( also I'd purchase an Etsy kit if you restock!)

22:34 for clothing, a fun trick is to put down wig mesh on the printer base so that you can print parts onto the fabric, allowing the plastic to flex and stay togeather if you print the clothing creases and folds separated. The mesh also allows you to sew parts togeather.
Example: having a row of thin squares that can be coiled into a ring of squares then repeating the rings with separation to have a sleeve of rings.
    Experiment

Try fashion doll clothing. Most fashion dolls are around 30 cm, and Blyth doll clothing could work too 😊. Btw great work on making your own doll ❤

30cm is too much max 25

I appreciate this video, I’ve been struggling to print bjd’s for 2 years. Everyone makes it look so easy. This video gives me hope. Thank you!

What you did, is on my bucket list! =D Me and my step sister plan to make our own ball jointed dolls one day. I think having a 3D printer is a must for the design.
Also the doll didn't originate in Japan, but in Europe and were crafted in bisque and porcelain, Japan just adapted them into anime style.

I try to learn Blender every year, but my years of 3DS Max and Lightwave keeps me from learning a new software. This video is great. You really put your less-than-perfect attempts to good use as learning experiences. Good Stuff.

I’m working on a Bjd doll myself. Because they are so expensive but I am making it for free. And I am going to use fabric to make the clothes for her.

18:37 I love that if you really want you can print, clean and sculpt, then photo scan the part back in to help remodel the part

9:38 elongating the sphere into a pill slightly with the same one directional latch slot for the elastic would improve its tension

I'm wanting to learn blender or z brush to get doll making started. I make dolls by hand but I am tired and so are my hands. Great work.

Oh im so curious to know if you have clothes for the doll yet! Making doll clothes is relatively easy and youre already so talented so im eagerly awaiting a video! Please please even just an update to find out if she has her game costume on yet 😅

You should probably learn blender, just because a lot of the stresses of your software are less or non exsistant. You can even tell Blender to configure its controls to something you’re familiar with

You can remove the supports before soaking in alcohol or during, once cured it is really horrible to take off

Hello! I have a question if you don't mind answering and it's not a bother.
When you sculpted the joints and then printer them, did you print the joints a hair smaller than how you sculpted them, in order for them to fit in the sockets they're supposed to fit into, or no?

  • @Jack_Wolfe
    @Jack_Wolfe 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

5:31 did you get one of you models and just chop them up then replace all the connections with double ball joints?
