I just finished his book Food: A Love Story, yesterday. He's really funny, especially when talking about food.

McDonalds: 1968, Torrance, CA, USA, the old outdoor concrete tables, 2 concrete arches, subway tiles, screen sliding food door, paper vented food service hats, fried apple🍎 pies👍. Good times as a kid. Haven't been in a McDonalds since 1994.
You haven't missed much.
That's when my older siblings worked there. It was the fun place to work at the time. When they remodeled, we got a few tables with swivel chairs that we used as picnic tables. The mustard yellow and brown ones. Lol
Many years ago I heard a German comedian say he would go to McDonalds in Germany to buy a beer. The person he was with asked in total shock "You go to McDonalds for a beer?" He replied "You go to McDonalds for the food?"

I rarely eat at McDonald's or the other fast food joints these days but when I have a craving for fries I head to Wendy's. Jim's bit on Hot Pockets is legendary.

Pre 90's McDonald's fries, before they bowed to pressure and subbed veggie oil for the beef tallow that made McDonald's fries perfection. Still good, but used to be another level.
I was just telling my nephew this not to long ago lol! I told him how long and crispy McDonald's fries were and now they're short and sharp but he thinks they are the best ever. I told him he had no idea what he missed.
I actually remember the day the fries changed. I remember the the disappointment I felt...I thought I got a bad batch.
McDonald’s fries are my favorite when done right, which is the right amount of salt on them and the perfect mix of soggy with crunchy fries. I’ve ordered just fries and a soda for lunch.

Mcd’s fries used to be a lot better when I was young. They used to fry them in animal fat oil then changed to sunflower oil when everyone started to go more healthy. Still good but....

Jim is the perfect "topical comic". He get's on one topic and manages to cover literally every possible joke you can make on it. Unlike Patton Oswalt who's a great story teller, or Mitch Hedberg who manages to throw random comments out in any order, Jim likes to cover a single topic and say every possible thing about it.
Definitely check out Jim Gaffigan - "Holiday Traditions". He manages to make jokes about every holiday tradition and why they're so funny. It's possible the funniest thing I've head from him. Enjoy!

There is a McDonald's about one block from where I live, and I haven't eaten from it in years. I stopped long ago. The only thing you could entice me to eat there would be the fries. When they are hot and freshly made, they are tasty.

@@I_AM_BAYTOR Probably because they used to fry them in animal fat but they've been using vegetable oil for a while now. It's weird because they apparently still aren't vegetarian because the seasoning is made with dairy and beef.
@@rudymora4179 That's only part of it, because the fries in the 90s and early 2000s were vastly superior to what we started to get from late 2000s-onward. There has to have been more (likely pseudo-healthy) changes in that time.

Trick to getting fresh fries tell em no salt…and they make a new batch
I learned that trick over 20yrs ago. It works every time no matter what burger place you're at. Often times if they are not fresh all you can taste is the overkill on the salt anyways. But if you are in the drive thru and ask for fries with no salt and then request one or two salt packets. The confused look on their face is priceless. 😂😂

McDonald's is just so cheap and convenient. 🤣🤣 As a truck driver, they're always at truck stops and 1 on every 2 blocks. Always disappointed, but always fast and convenient.

Sorry to disappoint chaps, they are supposed to be standard for most things but in Canada, we have laws that the US doesn't and every burger place has to have 100 % pure beef, while the burgers in some states look like a piece of rubber from a tire and others it looks like meat, but you can tell just by looking at it. It is meat but it aint beef, also in places like Japan and Korea, they have Sushi and other sea and different types of traditional foods, as well as the standard Big Mack, fries, McChicken, etc.

Funny you mentioned Jim sounding like Regan. I remember listening to OandA with Patrice O'neal and Regan was there. Patrice O'neal made it sound like Gaffigan completely ripped off Regan's character and that most comics understood it this way.

I give in to fast food sometimes, but I think McDonald’s is rubbish. Taco Bell is my McDonald’s. And I have no shame in my love for Taco Bell. (P.S. There’s a lot of amazing fast food in the US, but somehow McDonald’s is our chief export.)

UK McDonalds is "healthier" than American McDonalds. If you have watched the video UK VS USA McDonalds. UK McDonalds had more "natural ingredients" while USA McDonalds like Big Mac and French fries has a long list of added junk ingredients for flavorings and color.
