Yep! I had THREE different kinds of ‘bacon’ while in the UK, and ZERO of them were actually bacon!! Even the one called American bacon was not. It’s gotta be deliberate, like if British people knew what they were missing they’d ALL want to be Yankees, it’s emigration control.😉😂

Also when he started talking about vegetarians I thought he was gonna say it but apparently it's another bit. One of my favorite Gaffigan jokes of all time is "Vegetarians will say to me, do you even know what they do to those animals? And I say, no but it's delicious."
My dad often hunted for our food. I went with him on a few trips. If a vegetarian wants to argue that eating too much meat is unhealthy, I'll accept that. But if you try to tell me that killing animals for food is monstrous... No. Humans are omnivores.

Jim and his family TH-camd live from his NYC apartment during the quarantine. It was absolutely wonderful to spend every dinner time live with the Gaffigans. He derives so much from his wife and 5 children. He is brilliant. And, says not one obscene word.

Wow the French finally got something right. I accidentally bought a lump of inedible, orange "CHEDDAR CHEESE alternative" with the alternative in a the tiniest font known to man. There is actually an American product called "JUST EGG" that contains no eggs (!!!) and is "plant-based". Remember when your doctor said to avoid processed foods. They now call them "plant-based" to sound healthy and more friendly. They are still chemical soup and ultimately worthless, dangerous soup.🧀🧀
I'm convinced that vegetarians are actually trying to POISON us all! Just get rid of all the meat-eating humans, in a way that doesn't look like mass murder. I'm not a "conspiracy nut," but that one makes total sense, when you think about how BAD all of their products actually are for you.

You're impressed he can do bacon for so long, you should check out his 10 minute run on Horses. . . .yeah, you didn't misread that. 10 straight minutes of jokes around horses. Not the best material, but it is just like this. It's a full run with the "self-deprecating" commenting of how long he's going with the horse jokes and everything. For 10 full minutes.
Instead of butter and bacon on bread, you should have made a Bacon, Lettuce and Tomatoe sandwich with toast spread with mayonnaise.
Tomatoes only if they're in season. Cherry tomatoes usually keep their taste, but be careful because they slide out.

The thing about Jim Gaffigan that I find most interesting is that he played division 1 college football. He was a walk on at Purdue and then transferred to Georgetown and played there as well.
He really downplays being athletic in his comedy routines.

No secret but if you haven't already done this, bake the bacon, it takes a little longer but less shrinkage and even more glorious.

Daz you must be talking about spinach dip. That's one of favorites. I put it in a sourdough bread bowl and cut the sourdough that was taken out into cubes to dip in it. So good.

Our 'ration' at restaurants is two strips of American bacon. We don't have 'rashers' of bacon, ours is cut off the belly. I still don't know what a rasher is, although I worked as a cook and a baker. (There are some very old American cookbooks that mention a 'rasher of bacon'.)

Streaky bacon has to be crispy, any other way it's the worst. That way, it's rarely worse than back bacon. Back bacon is good when it's lean, but when it's not oof. Streaky can come in so many forms as well, some is beyond great. The best of streaky I think beats the best back bacon.

I noticed this before. Americans say burger meaning beef. We have chicken sandwiches, no one sells a "chicken burger". Burger assumes beef unless otherwise stated "bean burger, veggie burger, turd burglar"
