My Mk7 GTI been leaking for over a year, finally went out few days ago wit 118K+ miles, my hood mechanic found where it was leaking from 🙏🏿 thanks for the vid bruh 💯
Thank you for posting this video. Saw steam coming from my engine bay this morning and found the coolant leak on top of the turbo exhaust housing / O2 sensor. Will be replacing the degraded part ASAP!
Bought the plastic coolant adaptor from the dealer today and installed in under an hour. Easy fix! Couple of recommendations for others: 1) loosen and/or remove the two torx bolts that hold the rigid metal coolant line to give yourself extra room when removing the rubber hose, 2) unclip the two fuel injector connectors to give yourself more room, and 3) use a large pair of angled needle nose pliers to squeeze the top hose clamp.
It’s a T30 to take it off and they sell aftermarket ones that are made from aluminum because this is such an issue. Heck of a leak to try and find because it just hits the turbo and burns off
This gave me goosebumps as my car was just towed to a shop today as smoke was coming out of this exact spot. There is fluid dripping but i am praying it is something like this and not a blown head gasket. Wish me luck
Just did the IS38 upgrade and this POS was all kinds of ate up. Can't believe it didn't leak earlier. Everything is good with the upgrade ...but now I have coolant leaking and burning off of the o2 sensor. Didnt buy one originally cus I didn't know it was bad. Now have to wait a few days for replacement adapter and hose. No other leaks than that tho.....
Thanks for the vid man. Got coolant evaporating on to the same spot, gonna pull the hose in the morning now. Did you ever get an idea of why this happened?
I think it’s just because of the expansion and shrinkage of the plastic leads to cracking. There are folks offering billet aluminum replacements seems to be a common issue
Hi. This just happened to my 1.8T Leon. You don't show any of the removal process - can I assume that you can remove the broken part and stub hose *together* by just detaching the top of the hose from the rail, i.e. without removing anything else besides the engine cover? Thanks.
OK I changed mine in ~ 30 mins. It helped to remove the bolt that holds the metal water rail in place so there is a little more movement to get the short rubber hose off and back on to the rail. A bit fiddly but no real removal of anything was needed.
great video, strange that part busted, wonder why/how. thanks for recording this and how to fix it. looks like the part is about $6. shopdap has it on sale too!
I had a shop replace my blown turbo on my MK7 GTI back in 2018, and a week after I got my car back, I realized that this piece was broken when I had to replace the brand new turbo they installed due to the second one failing. I was pretty upset to see this piece broken, especially since they never told me they broke it. I realized that they tried to hide how they broke it by putting a bunch of silicone around it to stop the leak. Why they didn’t replace it, as it’s only a $6 piece, is beyond me, but they didn’t. Pretty upsetting. I’m sure they broke it when they installed my new turbo. Just upsetting they never told me.
You are an absolute legend for posting this, I have only read about this fix in a couple forums, this video needs to be seen!!!
Hey bud, do you have a Part number used in this fix?. Thanks
Awesome...thanks a lot...very much useful
Just want you to know this video single handedly fixed my coolant leak. Thank the Dub Gods you posted this!

I've had this just happen with my audi s3, any video on how to remove and replace?
P.S was your coolant leaking out like superfast?
Have the same problem rn as well
Thanks man, just happened to my mk7 GTI.
What’s the part number for the rubber hose or did you reuse the old one? I’m having the same problem in the exact same spot thanks for posting this!!
Have an Audi S1, same issue, dumping coolant.....same place
Man i think this what mine got rn bro goated
was your coolant mixing oil or no?

I had VW dealership claim non-oem antifreeze solution makes the plastic brittle.
@@YA5HWA nope I've only used vw coolant
VW has way too much faith in composite plastic.
Just replaced mine, how long did it take for the smoke to go away after the repair?

Your the best
I just replaced mine and it's still leaking from the same area. I have no clue what is causing it. Tried installing it 3 times now and still leaks
Did you have coolant spraying all over like near the intake tubing and diverter valve?
Thank you.
i need that hose whats the name of it
I will replace mine soon, do you know why it melted? Mine did.

About to do this same job on my 2016 R does anyone know the size of the bolt that holds the adapter in place.
Did you find out? I also have a 2016 R that seems to have this same issue.
@@pdotc yes it ended up being a 5mm hex
@@buzzi2137 I ended up replacing the adapter
Hey what’s is the part number or name ?

Was going to ask how you got the hose off the coolant rail. Looks like you had a hell of a time.
It’s easy. Just unloosen the clamp, loosen up the torx bolt, and pull it out. It’s easier than it looks.
@@JacesOwnWorld any idea what torx bolt size is that? I'm trying to purchase a torx kit and cannot find the right size.
Think I have the same issue: th-cam.com/video/r9uL9otxtfo/w-d-xo.html
Did this affect your oil consumption in any way?
