I can’t believe I’ve found a video on TH-cam that shows me some straight up gameplay AND first impressions of the latest games releasing.
Welcome to the present
😂😂😂
I can’t believe I found a comment on a youtube video that shows me some straight up gameplay and first impressions of the latest games releasing.
This is the only game channel that you can subscribe to with dignity.
This channel is awesome!
My favorite part about this channel is that it doesn't feel like a game review. It feels like I'm listening to my buddy try to warn me or tell me how great this game is he just got and I "gotta get it".
thanks!
@@gameranxTVfr
Sure it does
Uh huh..
My favorite part is all these generic bot comments lmao
It's crazy that in the first minute of this video I am more sold on this indie game than the "Quadruple-A" game Skull and Bones. Thanks again.
Still can't believe that Ubisoft had the balls to call their knock-off Black Flag a quadruple A game
Move on yall so we can stop hearing about this game lol
What don't people understand? Is English really that difficult? They said AAAA in terms of money spent on the game, which is true since they started over multiple times, not in terms of the game itself.
@@cenciende9401 Uh no, did you read the actual quote or just a summary of it?
“You will see that Skull and Bones is a fully-fledged game. It’s a very big game, and we feel that people will really see how vast and complete that game is. It’s a really full, triple… quadruple-A game, that will deliver in the long run.”
Makes no mention of the money spent on the game, just how 'vast and complete' it is, which it isn't lol
sucks that PlayStation is still charging people full price for games when Xbox gets everything into gamepsss day one I feel bad for how u ponies have to spend😢
sounds like my old car. the cd player skipped when i braked or turned right, rolling the windows down dimmed the headlights, and there was a bermuda triangle under the passenger’s seat that ate ten lighters in a single five hour road trip
Ah yes, the good old 70's-80's cars. They were anomalies in and of themselves.
I had a few cars like that. They'd drive and drive even though bits were falling off. Engine light on for six months but it would still keep going. I had a speaker burst into flames in my first car, the head gasket blew, then a bit of the floor in the back fell out. It still kept running regardless.
@@stuartmorley6894it kept running with a blown head gasket?! I drove move my 2012 Kia Forte Koup SX sports car 70 miles with a blown head gasket, but it blew and I didn’t stop moving until traffic made me, then it quit completely. 😂 great car though.
😂😂
My father is have car just like this. It is have many womans die inside and he is go to jails for always. My mother is say this car is have curse.
You can change all the “annoying” parts in the settings, down to getting clues for diagnosing quirks. Really awesome difficulty settings.
according to the discord, changing those doesn't disable achievements
@@bdrockgaming2675 yeah there IS one setting that does effect it, but 19/20 doesn’t
There it is, that's what I needed to hear. I bought the game right after reading your comment. I don't care about achievements and quirk system seems like a bad design choice (amongst a slew of good choices ofc) so I will use those setting almost for sure.
@@chrisp9824 yeah I was surprised he didn’t mention it. I figure I’ll try the game in its original form and turn off the anger inducing parts later.
@@chrisp9824@chrisp9824 To combat the quirks, you can unlock an upgrade to the diagnostic tool; it will tell you which of the 4 guesses was correct and if you struggle even then. You can pay energy to the device to tell you what is wrong. I love this part of the game almost the best!
PS: The upgrade is the first tier upgrade, so you can easily get it early on to fix the trunk horn problem
Damn 2 before you buys in 1 day?! I’m here for it!
We busy!
@@gameranxTV To many good games coming out so quick!
And I've never even heard of both games, love that they don't just cover AAA titles for Before You Buys
That Work Work Work Work
@@gameranxTV grindset
Double-A games are the best games. The budgets aren't so high that devs aren't willing to take a chance on more niche ideas. And at the same time it still has enuff of a budget to look like a polished product/
Agreed
so.... PS2?
Like Hellblade. I don’t know if a larger company would have made a game about mental illness like that.
I highly agree. 🙂
Its not about money, but the people. Mega corp got too many unnecessary ppl which contribute nothing to game making like ESG, executives who knows nth about game making, artist/Devs who didn't know/play the other parts of the game. So yeah, a lean, passionate, talented team is what we and the industry need.
Ah, so refreshing amidst the sequels and remakes/remasters. Thank you, Jake.
Exactly this. THANK YOU!..
Big companies should take a note here
Completely disagree, it's refreshing because it's unique, it has nothing to do with sequels, remakes and remasters (which are not for you if you played the original, there have been more new gamers since the early 00's than existed IN the early 00's, they're for them) none of which are a bad thing in any way at all. There is absolutely no shortage of new ideas and new implementations of ideas in games.
I swear some of you can't enjoy something without putting down something else.
@@kurostern2527 sorry i can't enjoy big companies launching the same games at full price with small tweaks and additions without innovating...
@@kurostern2527lmao I've noticed that too, but I guess it's only natural to compare something you love to something shitty
im convinced this game was made by mechanics that also like video games. i have an older car that randomly runs the headlight washers when i turn on high beams. im sold
I will say, for those who like the sound of it but are feeling put off by certain aspects - there is a lot you can do in the settings to make this a much more pleasant and an “easier journey” - settings like - not losing your supplies when failing a run -
I haven’t played much but I’ll play as intended for now! Enjoy all - lots of settings to make it less frustrating for sure.
That is a very important, thanks for pointing that out. They could have mentioned that in the vid, I am on the fence with this game rn and the moment Jake mentioned quirk system I was put off. Are there any options for that?
@@chrisp9824
Yes you can turn quirks off all together. There are some decent accessibility options.
Quirks are fun. I just got one that pops the hood when reversing. 😂
I don’t have access to the machine that fixes them yet either. Ha
@@StealthyZombie lol
Yes. And for the people who complain about the time runs take (and the lack of saves) here is one thing I've found. When you are first starting off runs do take a long time because you don't know what you are looking for. After a couple runs though, you realize that you only need some of the resources that are available and you aren't wasting time scrapping every car you come across, etc. now that I've put a few hours into the game resource runs usually only take 20-30 minutes.
@4866Yeah I did 2 or 3 story runs and a couple of resource runs and for me it comes down to "god damn I need so much scrap metal... lets do another run just for that" and then game spawns like 15 different electrical anomalies (fuck that ball stucking to your car... like I mean fuck that ball) and I barely survive so I use all my chemicals and scrap to make putty and go again. It's hard, stupid, annoying and I absolutely love this game ;P They made something truly special. Oh, my first quirk - right front door opens when I put the car in park. Kinda funny, diagnosed first try and I play on default settings, cool for now ;)
I love the idea of taking your time and being rewarded before and after a mission
Hey man! I see you joined youtube 15 years ago. Just curious, what did you watch 15 years ago? And where do you see yourself now?
You know what’s better? Real life. The rewards are way better too.
@@The_Rob_D bro who asked? It’s a videogame. I work a full time job…I pay my bills. If I wanna spend my free time playing something that makes me happy then I’m going to. You spending your free time commenting negative shit tells me you’re just as much of a loser as I am. :)
@@The_Rob_D says the one watching a video and commenting on it instead of enjoying "real life"
@@The_Rob_DHaven't noticed any exclusions zones to explore around my neighborhood so I guess it's gonna have to be videos for now, champ.
This would be perfect for VR
yes
AMEN.
Nothing is perfect for vr
VR is nauseating
wow yes
Hope for a VR version. This game is so unique, and fun. I was typing unique right as you said unique lol.
no ur unique
First thing I thought. This game would be perfect for VR.
Oh man car quirks.
My electric sunroof opened when it decided it was time to, (especially loved to this on the motorway when it rained).
Indicator sometimes went into 'Happy Hardcore' mode when turning right.
Left rear passenger door sometimes wanted to play whack-a-mole when using the central locking when running late for work on a Winter morning.....
So I get why they may have put this in the game with it being an old car.......
Twist in the end is that you were just lost in the REI flagship store.
Trunk full of precious loot, battery filled with necessary anchor energy needing to get back to the garage, as the car couldn't take much more of a beating at that point, speeding to the gateway with the instability storm closing in just biting at the bumper, everything on the console glowing red, the visuals and sound combination, had me absolutely on the edge of my seat. And it will have me coming back for more. Exploring instable zones is so fun, they change on loading screens occasionally you might never know what you're getting into. Very fun game.
I played the demo and am so hooked. Ive been looking forward to it counting down the days since.
Lol the quirks mechanic is perfect. Sometimes the diagnostic part of fixing a car is the hardest and most frustrating part of the whole job. Sometimes there's easier work arounds irl though. Like in my 1996 grand prix. The left turn signal only worked if I pulled the lever towards myself(turning my high beams on) then moving it down to start signaling. I replaced the switch but bought the wrong-ish switch. Now my turn signals flash super slow and my high beams don't work. So then I installed a light bar and a switch in the dash and now I have high beams. A cheap-ish work around that I didn't have to rip the steering wheel off for. Hell yeah.
Thanks for all the awesome videos you've saved me from some bad purchases and also have pointed me in the right direction for some amazing titles thanks so much
This has been only the second game that I have pre-purchased. Had my eye on it for some time, and playing the demo convinced me. I have found the mystery with SF plot intriguing, and the tinkering in the garage oddly relaxing. I was also looking forward to this review, and thank you Gameranx for confirming my hunch. Tonight after work I am getting behind the wheel, and off to explore the Olympic Exclusion Zone.
Only heard about this for the first time in the last Steam Next Fest. Played the demo, and just like Dredge, I enjoyed the feel of it so much that I immediately stopped playing it and wishlisted it. Glad to hear Jake give it t humbs up. These days, Gameranx is pretty much the only channel that has never lead me wrong.
You know how this goes by now: He gives us some pros, some cons and some personal opinion and now he wants to hear ours down in the comments.
It's a good formula for a video like this.
Facts
As it should be.
and here's what the cactus🌵😊
Pizzas on me.
This channel with Gamercross meets all of my gaming wants & needs. A great balance is found between you 2.
This game has quite a few parallels to real life too.
Such as tourists blocking the road and refusing to move even if you honk at them.
With an explosive temper if you try to push them out of the way.
I was wondering why they were called Tourists...
It makes so much sense now...
Shoutout to the novel Roadside Picnic for still inspiring new media to this day
Love that book.
i can't help but think of Alan Wake and Control. I could definitely see this as a backdoor addition to the Remedy Shared universe as a person stuck in an AWE
Big fan of that added gameplay at the end !
Yep….this is a must for me.
I own a beat up old car that’s barely road worthy and it’s only 23 years old but I keep it going. It’s a struggle but it still can go around Australia if I want it to. Quirks? Just a series of knocks that no one can find where it’s coming from. The front left somewhere.
This game actually sounds like my life. weird things and all. Don’t ask.
Yeah i do all of the work on my old cars and live in the pacific northwest where this takes place. Its my game to.
My daily is from 74 and occasionally the door catch will drop and the door won't close untill I reset the catch
Or knowing just how much to pump the peddle before starting it in the morning
Or the droopy rearview mirror that only has one spot that it will stay in that i can see with
The paint is horrid the dash squeeks whenever it feels like
And everyone I meet is amazed that I drive it regularly interstate over Easter I plan to drive from Sydney to Brisbane then over to Bundy then Stanthorpe and down the coast back home to Sydney that will be a few 1000km
It's fun and really enjoyable having some variety in daily life
I hope this game can capture that enjoyable struggle
Damn bro, /howcanimakethisaboutme
@@Butterkoekjes did you even watch the video? He asked us about this very thing.
23 years old cars are perfectly fine to drive, assuming they were looked after.
Am I wrong for thinking this kinda feels like a first person version of Dredge except a car instead of a boat? If so, that seems rad.
Yes, basically
If so, then its a must buy. I was sold by Dredges mechanics and mysterious world almost instantaneouslyyy
I was thinking this as well! With some Outer Wilds thrown in there to boot.
Yeah I got the same vibe from this, and it's a immediate buy for me. I had so much fun with dredge, hope this one will be at least at the same level
To me this is more like 'my summer car' with *Heavy* insperation from a book called "Roadside Picnic". A book that also inspired the 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.' franchise.
The best Page about games EVER, I follow you from years and you never disappoint ❤
I really respect what you are doing, because it have really helpt me to more know if I want the game, so thanks.
Can't wait to start this and review it, been looking forward to it for a while
it looks super unique, can't wait to play it!
We need vr for this game so bad
It works well with the UEVR mod, so it sort of already has VR. But yeah, official VR support would be incredible.
Truth
play into the radius it’s very similar to
I love games with interaction elements like this, they feel so immersive. A similar game I loved the feel of (though never truly enjoyed the puzzles) was Obduction. This game I think would work wonders in VR apart from the difficulty of motion sickness
Hats off to you guys two videos in a day I'm in ❤🎉
This feels like a comical 1980s take on dimensional/quantum physics if you had a dream about it. The atmosphere is awesome.
These kind of driving games were never my thing. However... add Roadside Picnic-y/Stalker-y vibes like this one, and it suddenly fits. I liked the demo, for sure.
Gameranx is my favorite review and gaming source now . They have great vids, are objective and have a decent level of humor.
I am say thanks to you for not say "unbiased". Too much peoples is not know what is this word "unbiased" is mean and these dummy peoples is say this word too much times.
@@donnydogpiss4533the only person who is dumb is you. 😂 what hell did you write?

This game, except for its survival aspect, is the exact opposite of what I usually play. Strangely though, it looks so interesting, and different from "normal" genres of games that we are used to, that I've had my eyes on it for months and I can't wait to start playing it. This Before You Buy just sealed the deal for me, I'm buying it right now. Thanks Gameranx, you guys are the best, keep up the great work!!
Are you happy with it? I’m in the same boat as you
@@CrunchyBrownie5 haven't played much of it yet, but I am enjoying it. I encountered the Abductors (floating alien-like creatures) and having to sneak by them to enter a building and loot it gave me a rush hahaha I know they aren't THAT dangerous, but it gave me an insight of what's to come in harder zones. As Jake said in the video, it's a lot of looting and crafting, but it's so much different than what we're used to that I don't get bored. Well worth the 40$ (CAD) so far
The quirk system is a tricky, cool thing. It’s an ‘If>Then’ type of puzzle. You have to input the cause first, then the issue. For example; If I reverse, the hood opens.
I’m having a great time with the game so far. Was excited for it prior to launch & its definitely living up to my expectations so far. Looking forward to the weekend when I’ll have more time to enjoy it.
Thankyou for making good before u buy vids. Your whole channel is legendary

I've played about 20 hours of this so far & absolutely love it. I generally like survival crafting games & am really into weird scifi stuff, so this game was right up my alley
Thank you gameranx for buying the games and making reviews, gameplay and purchase advice.
I'm so glad you emphasized how challenging the game is. I played the demo and didn't make it to the first skybeam in time. It was devastating.
Thanks for the great content as always, say any news on squirrel with a gun yet🤔 have a great one👍👍
The thumbnail. Its the example of gameranx classy thumbnail will never ever change, no matter whatever the damn game is
Back to back before you buys 🤯 ❤
Love to see games like this. Will definitely try it someday.
Played the demo and loved it..can't wait to buy today and play it fully
Thanks guys! I have this in my wishlist since the first trailer came out, and I completely forgot about it 😅 Looks very intriguing and fun (although survival games aren't my thing tbh), definitely going to buy it after I come home later 😁
I've just bought and downloaded the game on the strength of the great demo released during Next Fest. I'm really looking forward to playing this game. Thanks for the great 'Before You Buy' Jake, as always it was informative and balanced 👍
I tried it and i f..king love it. It surprised me of what I got from this game. Very cool and uniq game. Love survival games and this game studio really knocked it out. Keep up the good work with all the videos. Best review show on the internet. Pros and coins like we need to hear. Big love from Sweden
Survival/racing/mechanic simulator/battle royal/extraction shooter/souls-like/minor horror/sci-fi
Mashup genre games are awesome XD
Another thing to note about quirks is that you get upgrades early and later that help you diagnose them. (They become the main use of one of the early game recourses after you've used it to unlock everything else)
played the domo a while ago, can't wait to play this game, it got me hooked right away
I'm getting goosebumps! I had a dream pretty similar to this, it was a game where you could go on foot and in a car. The car was not just any car but was integral to the story and gameplay to the game. You were driving around in all sorts of places, leaving the car to do tasks and return to it. I remembered one biome that had huge-tall trees. I think I have to get this game now.
Years ago I had an early '90s Oldsmobile wagon that kind of looks like the one in game... and, oh boy, did it have quirks... things like how once in a while the radio would start screaming at you and the only way to get it to stop and just play music was to hit it with a crescent wrench I kept on the front seat solely for that purpose... I had the braking system rebuilt twice and they still only worked when they felt like it... and it wouldn't start unless you swore at it.
I miss that car.
Back to back videos let's go!!!
Excited for the FPS episode and Jake and Ralph chatting about this one
The thumbnail is pure gold
Car-head Jake with a suit on always gets my motor running.
So true. I was like 😂 when I saw it.
As a survival car game enthusiast ( My Summer Car, Mon Bazou etc) I have been excited for this game to drop. I downloaded the demo today to play tonight on my night shift in preparation for tomorrow's release
This looks like it has an awesome cozy vibe to play on a dark spooky rainy night, the atmosphere and visuals look really good! Also the car modding and mechanics look to be pretty deep and involved and that appeals to my car nerd brain lol
I pre-ordered the game at gamestop when i saw the video without much information. I'm glad I did.
Thank you! I needed this
Literally watching before I buy. Thanks Jake!
I just heard about this just now because of your channel. I like it.
Even if it's a game I have absolutely no interest in I still watch every single one of these before you buy videos, you guys are incredible, thank you for what you do!
I'm excited to see this game discussed on the Friends Per Second Podcast!
Man this is a breath of fresh air, I'm getting Outer Wilds vibes from this one, I can't wait to try it out.
I think one thing that might have given the game a little more spark is to have a little selction of cars at the start like test drive but you can only choose one for the game. The others would be scattered in the area and we could salvage them for parts. I will get this game over the weekend.
Reminds me of that game IGP played a little while back where you’d drive around finding massive mysterious and eerie monsters.
Well this game definitely clicked for me, I am writing now as I just finished it about a week ago and I was thinking to start a new run where I listen to the story again to catch the missing bits (which you might miss a lot because everything is told while you're driving, expecially if english is not your first language) and I think this time I will try to unlock EVERYTHING, really taking my time.
Can't believe this game drops tomorrow, I loved the demo so much.
It gives 'Southern Reach trilogy' & I vibe with that HEAVY
I was looking forward to this game when it was revealed at a Sony state of play. I'm just now starting to be more open to playing survival games after playing Palworld so I'll definitely check this game out. Everything about it just looks so cool and interesting.
I remember thinking this looked really interesting when it got announced a while ago
I like your drive with a moving motivational speech in the beginning 😅
I almost give up on this game until I saw your video. I'm currently at the beginning of the tutorial where I have to scape an abandon car and I didn't find the tool saw. I use a prybar instead. 85 break
I love watching these mostly because I like knowing what games to recommend to specific friends. Shout out to David who I will recommend this to.
LOL I love the fact that you had everything together, pretty clean car, at the final video clip there and then BAM you didn't see a line of tourists and two of your panels just blew off the car lol
I don’t know what I love more. The straight up gameplay or the first impression of the latest games releasing

I’m all here for new, unique IPs. I played the demo and it’s intriguing. I’ll likely pick it up soon
I lived on the Olympic Peninsula in the 1990s, so I can't wait to see what this looks like.
@gameranx not many people notice or check the settings. This game come with in game modifiers now some will disable achievements of the game for that pacific save game. I have a backup save I have enabled most of the modifier and they seem like a choice of the player if they want to explore without getting killed or having the vehicle get damaged by anomy’s or storms. You can also upgrade the engine with a turbo engine you also have a fabricator where you unlock blueprints and upgrade the garage along with the vehicle itself.
Really reminds me of firewatch. I adored firewatch and the mystery behind everything plus the gameplay. I feel like id fall in love with this game as much as i did Firewatch.
I love the quirks system and diagnosing them
I love when we get pros and cons and straight up gameplay.
I'd imagine you as the player would develop somewhat of a bond with the car as you progress, same with the characters on the other end of the radio because it's just you going solo. I'm intrigued enough to try it.
It’s a deep & engaging game. Not for the faint of heart. If you want a game that rewards you for learning its systems & utilizing what you’ve learned on the fly, this is the game for you. It’s atmospheric, captivating & unique. I would very much recommend it. Once it’s optimized a little better it will be even more enjoyable.
i love your videos you guys are awesome, but man your steering and watching that dog you got on the dashboard was crack up hahahaha. Speaking of can you use a wheel with this game?
Bought this today after watching about half of the Before You Buy yesterday). Definitely something VERY different, pretty unique imho, and actually kinda cool! Only finished my first drive, so still super early in the game. Nothing I would typically play, but really liking it so far 👍
It is so far my favourite game this year, and honestly in a while. Every other game just seems the same to me. Loved it, I hope it takes off, its really original and just genuinely good
this wasn't even on my radar, definitely gonna check it out!
This was already a day one preorder for me simply because of how unique this game looks, and everything you described sounds like a blast to me. Buttcheek clenching good time is always something I’m down for 😂
first play i noticed you can decrease keyboard steering sensitivity so i turned it right down. but within a short time the car couldnt turn left. after ages i worked out its part of the script and i had a flat tire with no way to fix it till you get to the garage which i didnt know about. happy bunnies when i realized i should turn the keyboard control sensitivity back up and could then turn left. once your at the garage you can equip with a craft staion in the boot of the car to create what you need on the road. providing you have the scrap parts to create the parts that you need. eg what you wantto build may need gears so you have to create a certain amount of gears for it as well as other parts
i love this game. ive heard you need off road tyres as soon as possible. i agree you have to be very carefull with the summer tyres with the random sharp rocks and matter ripping anomalies
Thank you so much for this video
After watching this I was set on playing the game, and over the course of this week I put 40 hours in and beat the story, and it was incredibly satisfying and challenging the whole way through!
This is BY FAR the best review out there. And I made one myself 😅Thanks man!
Looks really good. I'm always for Picnic on roadside/Stalker universe stuff.
