In the original you'd literally run out of stuff to do in the slice of life portion. Adding Part-Time jobs and just more activities to do with the main party in general is a huge step up.
It's funny because p5 seems overwhelming with it's options! I think the biggest difference is the dungeons at night and can't overlap with social links so I'm not worried about missing them or not upping a stat
Yeah I think now you could probably go through the whole game and not ever have to interact with some of the shittier social links. Unless you're a completionist type.
I think the best add on they put is link episode between member, they really put some effort into it, we mostly got how tight the bond between them just like in fem mc perspective

Oh man, I’m downloading this right as I’m typing this and I’m unashamedly excited. I played Persona 5 a few months after release; the first Persona or SMT I’d played. It gripped in a way that very few games do, the special ones like Dark Souls, Metal Gear, Ocarina, FF7 etc. The past 2 years have been rough for me. Without going into too much detail: -I lost a friend -got badly addicted to heroin -became homeless -and ended up having to do a couple of months in prison because petty shoplifting and stuff. I used that time in prison to get sober and grabbed any offers of help that came my way with open-hearted gratitude. I’m just over a year sober now, living in my own place, trying to put my journalism degree to some sort of use by getting a decent place in a library and working my way up. Due to all of that chaos and recovery, I’ve had a two year break from games. I bought a console 2 months ago to finally play Elden Ring, which has the best first half of a game you’ll ever play, before there’s a sudden and steady decline in quality in the disappointing second half. Today I bought Games Pass for P3R and Octopath 2. I am so ready for another Persona game to swallow me up for 100 hours. Everyday I’m grateful that I managed to turn my life around to be in a position where I can lie in bed with a fulll stomach and empty worries. If you’ve read all of this thank you lol, I didn’t mean to say all of this but it all just kinda tumbled out

Game's data files have already been mined and found that there's going to be 6 DLC packs. 4 will be just items but the other two will be Aegis's chapter from FES.

Having played it on my psp originally, this remake has BLOWN me away. Everything feels so much richer. And the stuff implemented from persona 5 fits so well.
P3 was my first and still favorite Persona game. I’ve been loving Reload, it’s such an overall improvement to the original while staying true to its roots.
So when you're huge fan of the original, even the weird music it had, it's a good choice to play reload? I love the PS2 game so much, it taught me English so I'm kind of hesitant to play reload for fear it might be too different from the original (haven't played P5 yet since I couldn't warm up to it yet)

Never played a persona game and I’m 20 hours in and it’s an absolutely banger of a game. Didn’t think I’d enjoy the slice of life part as much as I do but it’s entertaining. Then going back out into combat with its seamless combat and beautiful animation is addicting. Looooove it
Some of the best things about the Persona series is how it blends the dungeon crawling and slice of life sections together. Doing stuff in one will progress the other. P5R is especially good with this if you ever get around to it.
For people who have already beat the original on normal I'd go as far as to recommend the merciless difficulty, since you can't change it to that later on. I'm playing on hard, put 30 hours into it and I've yet to see a game over screen, despite not paying too much attention while playing. The combat is a lot easier because you're actually controlling the characters now and the shift (baton pass) mechanic really lets you exploit weaknesses a lot more. And there's also the limit break skills. Card bonuses are a lot more frequent and choosing personas you already have now levels up every persona of that arcana, which makes acquiring good skills a lot easier. The remake also introduced light/dark spells that deal constant damage so the old ones are incredibly situational. I've also yet to see a hama/mudo skill from an enemy that actually KOs a party member. Party members also respawn with 1HP after fights so that would be even less of a problem. Combat feels a lot snappier overall but I'm disappointed about the difficulty, as I spend quite a bit of time crafting personas but never end up using them to their full potential. If I could choose the difficulty again I'd go with merciless.
Oh man I’m torn. I’m knee deep in Infinite Wealth and loving it. Can’t give both games the time they need so have to put this to the side for the time being. Great problem to have!!!!
The best thing about reload for me is STREGA, they got more screentime and interaction with the MC. The bond episodes are also amazing especially Aragaki's, you get to learn more about Akihiko and Mitsuru there when there was only 3 of them, the activities in evening at the dorm are also amazing especially the group studies it makes you feel like a part of the team, in the original there's literally nothing to do in the dorm and you dont get to interact much with the members so this is a very good addition imo. So i would say this is the best Persona 3 to play despite lacking The Answer content in Persona 3 FES or Female MC in Persona 3 Portable, and if the rumors about The Answer (Aegis's story) will be coming as DLC I would gladly take it. I'm currently 50 hours into the game so there might be more things that I havent discovered yet, but so far I would definitely recommend it to a long time fan or a new one
Like the way Falcon goes back and forth on why it's good vs. why it may be lacking in certain respects, despite being a franchise fan. I never bought the portable remake for PS4 due to some glaring omissions, but this appears, at face value, the best rendition overall.

You didn't mention the soundtrack, which is one of the best things about this game. I'm a newcomer to P3 and this soundtrack rivals P5's. I honestly think it's the music that makes Persona such a comfy, compelling and immersive experience. I absolutely love this OST.
I need it tbh. I actually bought P4 Golden about 2 years ago since I literally sank 400+ hours in P5 and P5R, but I couldn’t get myself past the first dungeon in P4 because of how old the game felt :/ I know it is an incredible game (because it is a persona) but it just didn’t hit the spot as P5 did. P3 Reload though is an absolute beast, I’m having so much fun!

I put like 87 hours into PS5R last year and i'm still on my Persona cooldown. Fantastic games, but Jesus, having to micromanage every second of every day was super stressful and idk if I want to do that again in PS3R.
@@ThwipThwipBoom it's alot nicer in p3r imo, you have your day/afternoon stuff and you do the dungeon at night so they don't overlap. It was annoying deciding between upping a stat, going to mementos, upping a social link, or going forward in the game.
I love Persona 5. It was my favourite game on PS4. I did buy Persona 4 when it was released but know how long it is so haven't really started it yet. I will and once that one is done, it's nice to know this is ready to buy down the line 😉
Little tip. Arcade increases a stat by 3 for your currently equipped persona. You can go twice a day for a total of +6 in a stat. Lilim and Palerider are only weak to light. You can get skill cards for any skill. You can save at the floor of the tower. You can get Spirit drain around the 20s of the floors and have near infinite SP. The sickness system is gone, and you never have to leave tartarsauce until you want. Grind the first day you can until you have all the shadows running away from you, and you can take the teleporter to a lower floor to reset the destructibles. Then go and do the arcade in the evenings until the full moon unless you have a social link you really wanna do in the evening instead of going to tartarsauce. Laugh as your stats far surpass the rest of your team.

The best news for me was that Falcon didn't have to struggle to find the map button. I laugh at me with that as well since I am regularly using the map in Borderlands 3 and similar games.
To me, the definitive version is FES because "the answer" is ... or should be the canon ending to the story. Also I am waiting since then for them to release a follow up ... release the seal and get the main character out of his soul prison. Instead we got the portable version, the dancing game, two persona Q and now this since then. I really hope for FES related dlc for this one.

I got about 26 hours in so far. For some one being a newer fan of the series my first playing Persona 5 and recently finished golden im happy to say i love the series and for someone who really liked 5 cause it was my first. Persona 3 is shaping up to be my favorite. I wish i played the original back in the day
Yes; you do. This version is so poorly made that I wish they had included the original. I found Persona 3 at a video rental store in like 2008. Picked it up cause it looked different from everything else on the shelf. Played it for 3 days and realized I needed my own copy, got it, didn't finish it because I discovered there was a special edition called FES, got that and lingered in that world for months before experiencing the most beautiful ending any of my video game selves had ever had before or since. From the first 5 minutes of Reload, I could tell that this was a very profoundly poor retelling of the story and recreation of that experience. Don't ruin it for yourself, play the original definitive edition, FES by any means possible. I implore all of you. Quality of life-wise, it may be difficult to go back to, but I have absolute faith and confidence that it is a substantially more rewarding experience than this watered down, incomplete cash grab.

@cosmicwarrior1857 I'd say for me the first 5 minutes are probably worse for someone who played the Original. Its definitely different in tone and it doesnt havent that same tension building with the cutting shots with the building music instead adding dialouge in. The introduction of the mysterious boy isnt as good as they chose to use an in game cutscene. Also the scene of the guy in the cutscene that sees the darkhour and the black goo enveloping him being done in the in game engine was such a bizzar choice. Overhaul its great but some of the choices i found odd and felt like it took away from the tone.

P3Portable maybe for the streamlined interface and FeMC, but there really is just so much of that game that is either infuriating or just kinda not well thought through. dont get me wrong, its a great game, especially for its time but poor party AI, repetitious combat loop, and boring mechanics outside of social links drag it down. thats not to say there are things i love about it that i wished later games would've done (party members getting sick or tired was a solid natural way of getting you to mix them up and make sure they all were getting properly leveled). i also simply have a hard time believing that you have gotten to the ending of the remake and seen how it was reworked. a lot of simple changes are hugely subjective but it doesn't inspire confidence in your argument when you admit to snapping to a judgement in 5 minutes. im just frankly happy theres a version of P3 that ironed out many of the very real frustrations the original objectively had.

I have two questions. Are there still reverse social links? I remember that if a social link is upset with you it can reverse the card and you would need to do what you can to bring it back. Do party members level up regardless if they are in your party or not? Persona 5 Royal got everyone to level up even if you didn't use them. I loved this new feature in Royal and something I believe every JRPG should do.
Party members don’t level up but they have a feature to reduce grinding for under levels party members. It’s a little funky and I’d rather they just all level up at the same time but it’s a clever solution for the problem. Basically you can find a door way sometimes when you use an item called a twilight shard on something within Tartarus, and it will lead to a clock that will level up any character of your choice to the mcs level the next time you take that party member out into battle.
for me someone that never completed the original P3 back in the day this version is definitely the definitive version for me to play, I just hope that they at least consider putting out the answer or even femc as DLC because it sucks that they were left out and tbh I wouldn't have had bought the version with all the DLC if I had known this beforehand lmao.
P5 like many people was my first experience with the series. I wasnt feeling it at first but as the game picks up its great. The music is my favorite part.
I'm a personal 3 portable enjoyer, has a 500+hours gameplay on my psp. I downloaded the remake one yst and damn i've been hooked. Honestly, kinda sad since they didnt include FEMC, since I always play as her in P3P. But the remake one is still beyond and above amazing
I first played the Persona series on Steam. I knew of it growing up, just never played them. I adored playing P3P as FEMC, which I chose to do as I usually only do one playthrough of such titles and her story was a bit more intimate. One thing I am wary or not keen on is the lack of "The Answer". Yes, the original version is considered to be a long, repetitive grind. It is generally considered to be a "bad part" of the game. But it IS the canonical ending, and gives the group their closure and motivation going forward. Reload was a perfect time to "Correct" The Answer, allow us that part of the story with better/new gameplay. I'm usually against "True Endings" locked behind paid DLC, but I would much prefer to see that down the track than for Atlus to pull a Golden or Royal and give us yet another enhanced version of P3 for full price. In many ways it wouldn't be the money, it would be the investment into P3R that would have gone to waste.

As a fan, I'm sure you've played and loved both games, and you guys should do a video on them. Or someone should. It's so underrated.

I’m a 90s kid but somehow missed out on the Persona series. I just started Persona 3 Reload a couple weeks back and at about 20 hours in I’m HOOKED. I love knowing this game is super long too
It’s great. Very valid criticism’s of Tartarus but this game is great. My biggest complaint is the lack of save options. All games should let you save at any point.
If this was a brand new game with a brand new story, I’d pay $70 for it. I’m not paying $70 for Persona 3 Reload that’s missing half the things that previous versions include.

I almost bought it day one, but decided not to mainly because of what you said, it's not really a "complete" package, and decided to wait a bit to see if The Answer will hopefully be released as dlc. Giving the track record of the Series: 3 had FES, 4 had Golden and 5 had Royal, I absolutely believe that there might be at the very least, a "complete package" dlc, with the female protag and The Answer, or at the most, an Enhanced Version down the years.
Nope, it's been confirmed in an interview there won't be. The answer will be released as DLC, and femc won't be happening due to the sheer amount of work they would need to do to even make it happen.
As someone who has nothing to compare to, seeing as I never played a persona game in my life. Never knowing of it's existence until recently. Im so happy to have a good game in my hands that can take mind off life. Being a father of a 2 year old is tough. And life isn't always so easy. I think this game may become my therapy...
The side shot at Fes and Portable was unneeded, the games are older so them not being on par with 4 Golden or 5 Royal is already known. How about mention how 3 set in stone what 4 and 5 would become and improve on
Never played persona. Never been a fan of JRPGs outside nier automata. I never like FF or kingdom hearts. Never could get into the tales series and I've probably played ALOT less jrpgs than most people. Still this game is (so far) looking like it's going high in my all time favorites and has sold me on playing the entire franchise after I finish it. Absolutely is a must buy and a must play if you remotely like rpgs, VN or anime in general. If you even remotely like JRPGs you will love this game. Absolutely a masterpiece of a game so far(15 hours in).
Love this remake but I played 3 on my switch, which was truly just the psp portable version stripped down a bit from the console version and I still thought it was great. I played 4 first and then 3 and then 5. All of them are great and I love the world and style of 3 and 4. This new version is great but it does somewhat feel like a reskinned 5. It is 100% worth a buy especially if this is your first time playing. Also being on gamepass is amazing, I was able to play without paying full price, though I'll probably purchase it eventually.
First time playing P3 of any sort, but have played P5R, P4G, and SMT V. It feels really good to play. All the things that made me want to quit P4 have been spruced up, but it doesn’t feel too modern or similar to P5.
I see there's been some contention between new players and folks who have played the older editions. As someone who never even gave Persona the time of day when the games were released, Persona 4 Golden on my Steam Deck was my first introduction and I am perfectly happy with Persona 3 Reload.

for someone like me who played the P3P in Hardmode on first play thru. theres a lot of frustration and satisfaction than P3R. also did a play thru without direct control of party member and give up on the tank boss. so to everybody that finish P3 and P3F, you guys are awesome!
As an old school persona player myself, I would like to provide a bit more context to a couple of points. 1. The fact that you could only control the protagonist (canon name Makoto/Minato btw) was not universally disliked, since it added an interesting layer of actually leading the group (giving commands, making a difference in battle, becoming a key figure in the arsenal against shadows). However, it turned a lot of players towards emulations of that game, because there was a hack/cheat to enable party control. It was still playable with just the protag being controlled, but you had to assign commands to specific party member (like focus heal or attack same enemy). Otherwise it was nearly impossible to strategize arround certain mob and boss encounters. 2. There was also the fatigue system in tartarus. Nobody liked that. Good players were even able to ignore that system entirely with certain builds and persona. Its good that its gone. 3. The Answer (the epiloge chapter) was actually quite hated back in the day. The difficulty had ramped up drastically in that extra chapter and some of the character/story decisions they made during that epiloge were... questionable? I will not spoil anything in particualar here, but some main cast character definitly dropped a couple of ranks on my tier list after beating that. The true final boss was a banger though... So, yeah. Even I like most of the changes. They keept the important stuff and removed a lot of friction.
Thank you person who actually played the game. A lot of P3 fans hate the Answer. The story people like it or hate it. I like it. But the main complaint was the gameplay and how straight up grindy that game is. You don't have a Compendium and back then you couldn't pick which skills you wanted inherited so a lot of that game is just soft resetting hoping you get a Persona that's not ass. So if they need to completely rehaul the game to make it not awful to play, they should 100% do that. For actual P3 fans the consensus has always been to not play The Answer and instead watch someone's Let's Play or a compilation pf all the cutscenes. So to see people acting like it's a huge deal you can tell they have never in their life touched Persona 3.

I think that the Gameranx team here pinpointed the exact reason of why a Persona game is such a unique JRPG: it's very veeeery long, even for JRPG standards, but they have such a good pacing to their story, they never (well, 98% of the time) feel stale. You can be 60h deep in it, and still wanting more of the story and their carachters.
Its actually a good thing that "The Answer" is missing. The ending of persona 3 was depressing and also beautiful at the same time. I felt like the answer ruined that feeling of mystery the ending had, also it was focused on concluding the story instead of being fun to play.

Having played and LOVED Persona 3 Fes, moving to Persona 4 with the dungeon crawl being more in your face first person and less 3rd person bird's eye was SO odd for me, as with Persona 5. To see from this video how they brought that element into Persona 3 is SO fascinating! It does feel way more immersive in that way, but given that each floor was a random maze with similar background every 5-10 floors, it would be a little difficult to translate that while keeping to the original plot of Tartarus being the transformed high school with no real point other than giving a place for leveling. I do feel that Persona 4 and 5 did a much more interesting switch by making each dungeon match the "heart" of the "villain". To see it come to life nearly 20 years later is WILD though.
i fell in love 2 years ago with persona 5 royal, played it 100%, and had to preorder 3 reload now. having a blast so far, loving the graphics, gameplay and music. still miss ryuji (best bro ever!) but junpei seems cool too!
Sticking with the game pass version, play it twice, once for the true ending, second for a good ending that doesn't involve a door hopefully. If there will be a FES DLC? I'll wait until the game+DLC is heavily discounted.

Having played it on my psp originally, this remake has BLOWN me away. Everything feels so much richer. And the stuff implemented from persona 5 fits so well.
P3 was my first and still favorite Persona game. I’ve been loving Reload, it’s such an overall improvement to the original while staying true to its roots.
So when you're huge fan of the original, even the weird music it had, it's a good choice to play reload? I love the PS2 game so much, it taught me English so I'm kind of hesitant to play reload for fear it might be too different from the original (haven't played P5 yet since I couldn't warm up to it yet)

Never played a persona game and I’m 20 hours in and it’s an absolutely banger of a game. Didn’t think I’d enjoy the slice of life part as much as I do but it’s entertaining. Then going back out into combat with its seamless combat and beautiful animation is addicting. Looooove it

Some of the best things about the Persona series is how it blends the dungeon crawling and slice of life sections together. Doing stuff in one will progress the other. P5R is especially good with this if you ever get around to it.

I picked this up friday and stg I had a flashback to being 11 and watching my brother play the original. Beautiful
For people who have already beat the original on normal I'd go as far as to recommend the merciless difficulty, since you can't change it to that later on.
I'm playing on hard, put 30 hours into it and I've yet to see a game over screen, despite not paying too much attention while playing. The combat is a lot easier because you're actually controlling the characters now and the shift (baton pass) mechanic really lets you exploit weaknesses a lot more. And there's also the limit break skills.
Card bonuses are a lot more frequent and choosing personas you already have now levels up every persona of that arcana, which makes acquiring good skills a lot easier.
The remake also introduced light/dark spells that deal constant damage so the old ones are incredibly situational. I've also yet to see a hama/mudo skill from an enemy that actually KOs a party member. Party members also respawn with 1HP after fights so that would be even less of a problem.
Combat feels a lot snappier overall but I'm disappointed about the difficulty, as I spend quite a bit of time crafting personas but never end up using them to their full potential. If I could choose the difficulty again I'd go with merciless.

The best thing about reload for me is STREGA, they got more screentime and interaction with the MC. The bond episodes are also amazing especially Aragaki's, you get to learn more about Akihiko and Mitsuru there when there was only 3 of them, the activities in evening at the dorm are also amazing especially the group studies it makes you feel like a part of the team, in the original there's literally nothing to do in the dorm and you dont get to interact much with the members so this is a very good addition imo. So i would say this is the best Persona 3 to play despite lacking The Answer content in Persona 3 FES or Female MC in Persona 3 Portable, and if the rumors about The Answer (Aegis's story) will be coming as DLC I would gladly take it.
I'm currently 50 hours into the game so there might be more things that I havent discovered yet, but so far I would definitely recommend it to a long time fan or a new one
Like the way Falcon goes back and forth on why it's good vs. why it may be lacking in certain respects, despite being a franchise fan. I never bought the portable remake for PS4 due to some glaring omissions, but this appears, at face value, the best rendition overall.
The Aigis edition includes a pass code for future DLCs, so I think it's safe to say DLCs are planned.

You didn't mention the soundtrack, which is one of the best things about this game. I'm a newcomer to P3 and this soundtrack rivals P5's. I honestly think it's the music that makes Persona such a comfy, compelling and immersive experience. I absolutely love this OST.

I need it tbh. I actually bought P4 Golden about 2 years ago since I literally sank 400+ hours in P5 and P5R, but I couldn’t get myself past the first dungeon in P4 because of how old the game felt :/
I know it is an incredible game (because it is a persona) but it just didn’t hit the spot as P5 did. P3 Reload though is an absolute beast, I’m having so much fun!

I finished p5r in Nov and my soul was absolutely destroyed when I found out I needed to max out the stupid therapist for the extra semester.
I put like 87 hours into PS5R last year and i'm still on my Persona cooldown. Fantastic games, but Jesus, having to micromanage every second of every day was super stressful and idk if I want to do that again in PS3R.

I love Persona 5. It was my favourite game on PS4. I did buy Persona 4 when it was released but know how long it is so haven't really started it yet. I will and once that one is done, it's nice to know this is ready to buy down the line 😉
It's the first time I'm experiencing Persona 3 (p5 was my first Persona) and I'm loving it so far.
Little tip. Arcade increases a stat by 3 for your currently equipped persona. You can go twice a day for a total of +6 in a stat. Lilim and Palerider are only weak to light. You can get skill cards for any skill. You can save at the floor of the tower. You can get Spirit drain around the 20s of the floors and have near infinite SP.
The sickness system is gone, and you never have to leave tartarsauce until you want.
Grind the first day you can until you have all the shadows running away from you, and you can take the teleporter to a lower floor to reset the destructibles. Then go and do the arcade in the evenings until the full moon unless you have a social link you really wanna do in the evening instead of going to tartarsauce. Laugh as your stats far surpass the rest of your team.

I got about 26 hours in so far. For some one being a newer fan of the series my first playing Persona 5 and recently finished golden im happy to say i love the series and for someone who really liked 5 cause it was my first. Persona 3 is shaping up to be my favorite. I wish i played the original back in the day
Yes; you do. This version is so poorly made that I wish they had included the original. I found Persona 3 at a video rental store in like 2008. Picked it up cause it looked different from everything else on the shelf. Played it for 3 days and realized I needed my own copy, got it, didn't finish it because I discovered there was a special edition called FES, got that and lingered in that world for months before experiencing the most beautiful ending any of my video game selves had ever had before or since. From the first 5 minutes of Reload, I could tell that this was a very profoundly poor retelling of the story and recreation of that experience. Don't ruin it for yourself, play the original definitive edition, FES by any means possible. I implore all of you. Quality of life-wise, it may be difficult to go back to, but I have absolute faith and confidence that it is a substantially more rewarding experience than this watered down, incomplete cash grab.

@cosmicwarrior1857 I'd say for me the first 5 minutes are probably worse for someone who played the Original. Its definitely different in tone and it doesnt havent that same tension building with the cutting shots with the building music instead adding dialouge in. The introduction of the mysterious boy isnt as good as they chose to use an in game cutscene. Also the scene of the guy in the cutscene that sees the darkhour and the black goo enveloping him being done in the in game engine was such a bizzar choice.
Overhaul its great but some of the choices i found odd and felt like it took away from the tone.

P3Portable maybe for the streamlined interface and FeMC, but there really is just so much of that game that is either infuriating or just kinda not well thought through. dont get me wrong, its a great game, especially for its time but poor party AI, repetitious combat loop, and boring mechanics outside of social links drag it down. thats not to say there are things i love about it that i wished later games would've done (party members getting sick or tired was a solid natural way of getting you to mix them up and make sure they all were getting properly leveled). i also simply have a hard time believing that you have gotten to the ending of the remake and seen how it was reworked. a lot of simple changes are hugely subjective but it doesn't inspire confidence in your argument when you admit to snapping to a judgement in 5 minutes. im just frankly happy theres a version of P3 that ironed out many of the very real frustrations the original objectively had.

2:59 Bro, that's me in a nutshell right now explaining to my partner why my 31 year old ass is so in love with a JRPG that predated Pokémon about capturing/recruiting demons/monsters as overpowered teenagers killing gods, has some of the most compelling, flashy and engaging turn based combat gameplay and unforgettable music on top of a really well written (in most cases) characters, but I started playing Shin Megami Tensei and Persona 3 in 2008 when I was 16. 💀💀💀
I have two questions.
Are there still reverse social links? I remember that if a social link is upset with you it can reverse the card and you would need to do what you can to bring it back.
Do party members level up regardless if they are in your party or not? Persona 5 Royal got everyone to level up even if you didn't use them. I loved this new feature in Royal and something I believe every JRPG should do.
Social links can still reverse, i don’t know if party members level up if not in party
Party members don’t level up but they have a feature to reduce grinding for under levels party members. It’s a little funky and I’d rather they just all level up at the same time but it’s a clever solution for the problem. Basically you can find a door way sometimes when you use an item called a twilight shard on something within Tartarus, and it will lead to a clock that will level up any character of your choice to the mcs level the next time you take that party member out into battle.
I still have my Sound Track CD we got from the OG Release. One of my Favorite Sound Tracks to this day, just Beautiful.
for me someone that never completed the original P3 back in the day this version is definitely the definitive version for me to play, I just hope that they at least consider putting out the answer or even femc as DLC because it sucks that they were left out and tbh I wouldn't have had bought the version with all the DLC if I had known this beforehand lmao.
P5 like many people was my first experience with the series. I wasnt feeling it at first but as the game picks up its great. The music is my favorite part.
I'm a personal 3 portable enjoyer, has a 500+hours gameplay on my psp. I downloaded the remake one yst and damn i've been hooked. Honestly, kinda sad since they didnt include FEMC, since I always play as her in P3P. But the remake one is still beyond and above amazing
I first played the Persona series on Steam. I knew of it growing up, just never played them.
I adored playing P3P as FEMC, which I chose to do as I usually only do one playthrough of such titles and her story was a bit more intimate.
One thing I am wary or not keen on is the lack of "The Answer". Yes, the original version is considered to be a long, repetitive grind. It is generally considered to be a "bad part" of the game.
But it IS the canonical ending, and gives the group their closure and motivation going forward. Reload was a perfect time to "Correct" The Answer, allow us that part of the story with better/new gameplay.
I'm usually against "True Endings" locked behind paid DLC, but I would much prefer to see that down the track than for Atlus to pull a Golden or Royal and give us yet another enhanced version of P3 for full price.
In many ways it wouldn't be the money, it would be the investment into P3R that would have gone to waste.
Fantastic, before you buy, thanks. You mentioned again that you love JRPGs, yet I have not seen a mention or love from the brilliant Suikoden series. Specifically 1 and 2. As a fan, I'm sure you've played and loved both games, and you guys should do a video on them. Or someone should. It's so underrated.

It’s great. Very valid criticism’s of Tartarus but this game is great. My biggest complaint is the lack of save options. All games should let you save at any point.
If this was a brand new game with a brand new story, I’d pay $70 for it. I’m not paying $70 for Persona 3 Reload that’s missing half the things that previous versions include.

Giving the track record of the Series: 3 had FES, 4 had Golden and 5 had Royal, I absolutely believe that there might be at the very least, a "complete package" dlc, with the female protag and The Answer, or at the most, an Enhanced Version down the years.
Nope, it's been confirmed in an interview there won't be. The answer will be released as DLC, and femc won't be happening due to the sheer amount of work they would need to do to even make it happen.
As someone who has nothing to compare to, seeing as I never played a persona game in my life. Never knowing of it's existence until recently. Im so happy to have a good game in my hands that can take mind off life. Being a father of a 2 year old is tough. And life isn't always so easy. I think this game may become my therapy...

Never played persona. Never been a fan of JRPGs outside nier automata. I never like FF or kingdom hearts. Never could get into the tales series and I've probably played ALOT less jrpgs than most people.
Still this game is (so far) looking like it's going high in my all time favorites and has sold me on playing the entire franchise after I finish it.
Absolutely is a must buy and a must play if you remotely like rpgs, VN or anime in general. If you even remotely like JRPGs you will love this game. Absolutely a masterpiece of a game so far(15 hours in).
Love this remake but I played 3 on my switch, which was truly just the psp portable version stripped down a bit from the console version and I still thought it was great. I played 4 first and then 3 and then 5. All of them are great and I love the world and style of 3 and 4. This new version is great but it does somewhat feel like a reskinned 5. It is 100% worth a buy especially if this is your first time playing. Also being on gamepass is amazing, I was able to play without paying full price, though I'll probably purchase it eventually.

First time playing P3 of any sort, but have played P5R, P4G, and SMT V. It feels really good to play. All the things that made me want to quit P4 have been spruced up, but it doesn’t feel too modern or similar to P5.

I see there's been some contention between new players and folks who have played the older editions. As someone who never even gave Persona the time of day when the games were released, Persona 4 Golden on my Steam Deck was my first introduction and I am perfectly happy with Persona 3 Reload.
So glad this game is on Gamepass. I wouldnt have tried it if it wasn’t. It has become my handheld game that I play in bed at the end of the day. I’m really enjoying it!
for someone like me who played the P3P in Hardmode on first play thru. theres a lot of frustration and satisfaction than P3R. also did a play thru without direct control of party member and give up on the tank boss. so to everybody that finish P3 and P3F, you guys are awesome!
As an old school persona player myself, I would like to provide a bit more context to a couple of points.
1. The fact that you could only control the protagonist (canon name Makoto/Minato btw) was not universally disliked, since it added an interesting layer of actually leading the group (giving commands, making a difference in battle, becoming a key figure in the arsenal against shadows). However, it turned a lot of players towards emulations of that game, because there was a hack/cheat to enable party control. It was still playable with just the protag being controlled, but you had to assign commands to specific party member (like focus heal or attack same enemy). Otherwise it was nearly impossible to strategize arround certain mob and boss encounters.
2. There was also the fatigue system in tartarus. Nobody liked that. Good players were even able to ignore that system entirely with certain builds and persona. Its good that its gone.
3. The Answer (the epiloge chapter) was actually quite hated back in the day. The difficulty had ramped up drastically in that extra chapter and some of the character/story decisions they made during that epiloge were... questionable? I will not spoil anything in particualar here, but some main cast character definitly dropped a couple of ranks on my tier list after beating that. The true final boss was a banger though...
So, yeah. Even I like most of the changes. They keept the important stuff and removed a lot of friction.
Thank you person who actually played the game. A lot of P3 fans hate the Answer. The story people like it or hate it. I like it. But the main complaint was the gameplay and how straight up grindy that game is. You don't have a Compendium and back then you couldn't pick which skills you wanted inherited so a lot of that game is just soft resetting hoping you get a Persona that's not ass.
So if they need to completely rehaul the game to make it not awful to play, they should 100% do that. For actual P3 fans the consensus has always been to not play The Answer and instead watch someone's Let's Play or a compilation pf all the cutscenes.
So to see people acting like it's a huge deal you can tell they have never in their life touched Persona 3.

P3R is one of if not my favorite game. Tho 70$ for any game is INSANE
I think that the Gameranx team here pinpointed the exact reason of why a Persona game is such a unique JRPG: it's very veeeery long, even for JRPG standards, but they have such a good pacing to their story, they never (well, 98% of the time) feel stale. You can be 60h deep in it, and still wanting more of the story and their carachters.
Before you buy: The script and music is a downgrade from FES

Its actually a good thing that "The Answer" is missing. The ending of persona 3 was depressing and also beautiful at the same time. I felt like the answer ruined that feeling of mystery the ending had, also it was focused on concluding the story instead of being fun to play.

Having played and LOVED Persona 3 Fes, moving to Persona 4 with the dungeon crawl being more in your face first person and less 3rd person bird's eye was SO odd for me, as with Persona 5. To see from this video how they brought that element into Persona 3 is SO fascinating! It does feel way more immersive in that way, but given that each floor was a random maze with similar background every 5-10 floors, it would be a little difficult to translate that while keeping to the original plot of Tartarus being the transformed high school with no real point other than giving a place for leveling. I do feel that Persona 4 and 5 did a much more interesting switch by making each dungeon match the "heart" of the "villain". To see it come to life nearly 20 years later is WILD though.

Sticking with the game pass version, play it twice, once for the true ending, second for a good ending that doesn't involve a door hopefully. If there will be a FES DLC? I'll wait until the game+DLC is heavily discounted.
