A Practiclass is an innovative masterclass on practicing for any instrument or voice in which we learn to perform in ways we previously thought impossible, and show teachers how to add that to their teaching.
We all have those sections in our music that we practice like crazy for weeks or months that still go badly when we perform in lessons or public. We also know those few who can perform seemingly effortlessly, and we call them talented and gifted because of that.
Our teachers are teaching us well and we have all of the physical tools to make it happen, so what is the difference? It turns out it is the way we use our brains during practice when nobody else is around. The way the brain learns best is so very different from the way most people go about practicing that the few who do it right seem to have rare talent, but anyone can do it.
In a Practiclass we take one of those sections we’ve been struggling with for weeks or months and in about 20 minutes fix it so it is cleaner, faster, stronger and feels easier to play. It is a lot easier to be calm when performing if we know everything we’re going to do now feels easy.
This makes practicing more fun, which makes us want to do more work, which makes us progress even faster, which makes practicing more fun, which. . .
Most of the footage is from the Learn Like A Genius Institute hosted by the Youth Performing Arts School at Dupont Manual High School in June of 2019.

Good stuff. I've struggled for years due to having a painful physical disability and being on the autistic spectrum, but this type of learning has helped me tremendously

Great to hear, thanks for sharing. There is a free document on my website explaining ways to incorporate things like this in practice that you might find helpful ggoodhart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Feel-the-Blearn-6-16-2016-revision.pdf

Extremely powerful especially the part of saxophone. I know the saxophone piece well and I have problems in the same section.

Thanks. Perhaps the best part is that all of the information is readily available in the research for anyone to use!
