FYI - on some of our vehicles (mine is a 2012 Denali) the yellow clip holding the latch rod (just before the 5-minute mark in the video) is very different than what is in this video with a release tab in the back which you can't see without a mirror. This clip is a pain (there are other discussions about it and most end with folks just breaking it off and buying a new one). If you happen to have this yellowish clip you will spend hours trying to undo the tab in the back unsuccessfully (which I did) - the easier solution is to take out the three hex bolts holding the whole latch to the door and then, without disconnecting any wires or cables you can turn the whole assembly to see and release the clip. This was about 10 minutes vs a lot of swearing and still not releasing that little plastic clip. I was worried it wouldn't clip back together (single-use things that I have seen) but it did and I actually had to do it twice because I didn't get the bolt in exactly the right position the first time. I had done a front door on the same vehicle and this clip isn't on the front door - I was flying through this repair until I ran up against that clip. One last thing - you will need a very small flathead screwdriver to release the tab on that clip - like one for eyeglasses... yeah try doing that with a mirror taped to the inside of the door... Good luck!
You don’t even need to remove the clip! once you unbolt it, just slide it out and work it off of the latch rod. Then slide the new one on the same way.
Great video... Thanks. We did this as a father/son project today on our 2008 Avalanche. It was a little different because our rear door is straight vice curved for the wheel well. I could not open the yellow door lock rod, but on the avalanche, it's a lot longer. So I left it attached and just disconnected the handle from the rod while the rod was still attached below. Our new part did not fit perfect at first. The spring arm was not bent a true 90 degrees and there was friction which prevented the door from opening. We bent the arm with some vice grips to 90 degrees and everything went fine from there. Your video saved us a ton of money. Thanks Again.
Great tutorial by Mike. I followed this video to replace my rear passenger handle on my 2011 Sliverado LT with a couple of slight adjustments. The power window control comes off as a somewhat larger unit than just the plate in this video, but just as easily. There are also 3 bolts instead of two from this video, the extra is also behind the door latch. I was able to do the job without removing the door handle cable from the door panel which made it easier to put the panel back on. I just let it hang there while I worked. Everything else was just the same as Mike's tutorial. 1 hour job taking my time. The part I got from their site (I'm not affiliated with them) works great and looks just like the original. Good stuff, Mike. Thank you!
+Ryan Andrews Thank you for your order. If you would like to leave us a review on Google it would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to our reviews section. Have a great day! goo.gl/i5JFNY
Went very smoothly on my buddy’s 08 Yukon ! It was a bit of a challenge tho because the child lock was on and the handle was cleanly pulled off so I had to mess around with a coat hanger to find the door release. Thank you!
Really appreciate your videos it's one huge reason I give you my business. I would like to note if you have large hands don't bother with that rod clip inside the door. You can much more easily remove the handle off the rod up top by twisting it once unbolted. There was no way I was getting my hand inside to reach that clip.
Great video... very informative and awesome step-by-step directions! Made this repair on my wife's Yukon go faster than I expected, and didn't take up much of my Saturday! Well done guys! 👍🏼

Awesome video. Exact steps all included for a straight forward door handle repair. Only issue I had was I needed to bend the arm that holds the latch rod. The aftermarket one was rubbing slightly on the mechanism and preventing full motion to unlatch the door. By the way, if anyone starts to panic when you test the door and it won't open: Don't panic:) Just pull on the metal cable you disconnected from the door panel (only the metal part, not the outer sleeve), and the door latch will open from the inside.
great video!! thanks just one thing you dident show how the yello clip unhinges from the rod only cliiping in back on, I figured it out but maybe for someone else
+1A Auto Parts also my rear driver side window doesn't roll up but it rolls down do you have a video on how to fix that or what part do I need to fix it?

Thank you very much, u did a great job explaining everything & I followed step by step & got my door handle on now time for the drivers side!!! Thank you again!!!!
Excellent Video! This "Stay-At-Home Mom" was able to replace my broken Escalade handle with ease and precision- thanks to you! I feel like Super Woman. :-D
Thank you so much for the part and the video. I'm not that mechanical, so feeling pretty good about myself replacing this part on my 2012 Escalade. ;-) I did it yesterday and followed the video to the T, even the testing part a the end. BUT! When my daughter tried to get out of the back seat this morning at the school bus, the door didn't unlock. She had to manually pull up the door latch. The automatic lock/unlock feature doesn't unlock that rear right door now. If I manually pull up the latch to unlock, it will open, and it will lock using the automatic locking button. Mmmn. Fixed-removed and replaced the locking latch button (don't know if that helped) and reset the programming features to unlock all doors when in "park". All works now. (BTW. the clip on the door lock rod was the opposite way round on my 2012 Escalade.)
The instructions are great minus the fact that I forgot to remove one of the three bolts at the beginning but other than that everything worked out great.
Awesome video. Having some issues though. I finish the whole process, test the door several times locking and unlocking it and it works fine. After I drive and it auto locks I cannot get the door open inside or outside. What am I missing here?

Steve Ross. Recently a friend turned my child lock "on" when the outside handle was off. Is this what you experienced and how do you get the door open again?
Took the negative cable off the battery post before starting the work on the door handle on the 2013 Tahoe. After installing the new door handle & reconnecting the battery cable, none of the electric door locks would work. Have you experienced this problem? computer issue?
+Sharp dressed You may want to check all of the electrical connections that you had to reconnect to make sure that they are all seated properly. If they are not, you may have an issue such as this. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
got to the spot at 5.01 where you just unclip the actuator rod..yeah right - mine is solid will not unclip anyhoo - and appears to be different design to the one shown - mine is a 2013 Denali diesel 2500HD passenger side rear door and ideas before I get the welding torch out - my clip has a small slot in the middle and is flat sort of off white color - not yellow as shown - any idea A1 Auto? or anyone else - and also handle isn't broken - it would appear to have just fallen apart? 2 pieces? any ideas? - your chat line btw the way told me to go watch a video - I WAS WATCHING THIS ONE - YOURS! lol
As a Minnesota guy who lives in sub zero weather here in the winter I replaced two on my 07 Denali and now two on my 08 Eacalade Ext, still can’t believe the price new or used that GM can’t put heavier duty handles on them.. All my friends have had to do the same with these type of handles they are very brittle and cheap 😖.. Think I’m going to buy a Jeep n keep the doors off, I have warm snow gear to stay warm.. Great video though and I keep my 10 millimeter close..
Excellent Video, as always. One question, though. I just bought a 08 Denali but the right rear side door handle was missing, like completely missing. I do not see the little metal rod you unclipped, the one you mentioned to transfer to the new handle. Do you guys sell that rod or know where I can get one? Thanks for your help in advance.
+Pedro De La Sancha Thanks for watching! That metal rod is part of the door assembly and is something you will likely have to supply from the dealer or a salvage yard! 1aauto.com
