    Thanks so much for this video. I’ve never done this before. My T-100 is 27 years old; and I’ve had it for 23 of those years. She’s leaking the gear oil and I was largely oblivious to it but knew something was wrong a few years ago and a neighbor put a liter in for me. It’s gotten louder so today I took it upon myself to add more and OMG I had bought the gallon jug of 80W90 at Walmart and about used it all. The gallon doesn’t have that convenient spout like the jug you are using so I used a small funnel, and filled condiment containers from dollar tree to squirt a bit down the funnel, then wait, squirt more, repeat (a lot) and eventually I filled enough for excess to come out the fill hole. I’m going to have to monitor how fast I’m losing the oil in the differential. It looks like maybe the seal on the front side of that transfer case has the seal going.

      Truck still going relatively strong for almost 30 years old! Nice tip on if using the gallon jug, hopefully the leak is not a fast leak and easy to spot

    I know this is old, but I have to say, when you broke loose the fill plug and said, "that was fairly easy the way it should be, somebody put it on correctly..." I literally laughed. Remembering my 03 Pontiac that took a huge breaker, and let loose with a gigantic pop. ah good ole GM. Thanks for the info, great job. Incidentally, I'm having to fill mine because the vent was clogged, and pressure built sending the gear oil out my axle seals, soaking my rear brakes

      Haha, yes all DIY mechanics have a trusty breaker bar around to bust over tightened or neglected bolt areas

    Simple concise clear - solid video. We all have our own thoughts on how we might do it but the basics are covered well. Compressed air is also handy.

    Good tutorial Sir. Replacing the crush washers is recommended, only wish you would have shown the placements of the washers. My Taco is pushing 232,000, starting to see wearing on the underside. Thanks for the video, I’ll be following your channel as you service the same ride as I do. 👍

      Good point! I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Appreciate the feedback and support :)

    Nice clear easy to understand video. Don’t believe it’s absolutely necessary to replace crush washers tho

      Thanks for the feedback and good to know on the crush washer possible reusability. I get paranoid about leaks haha and given how cheap they are I always replace

      @@EngineeredMojo yeah, I’ll replace them this time around

    Beautifully done, I've got a '93 T100 (3.0 manual 4x4) and am assuming the procedure is the same front/rear. Should I also change-out the transfer case oil too?

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be very similar thanks to Toyota and their manufacturing process of keeping components between models somewhat similar. I would do the transfer case as well if you have the time, since you are already under the vehicle

  • @mengvaj87
    @mengvaj87 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also you have to tightened up these nut to stop those leakage

      Never over-tighten the bolts but good advice if you mean to tighten bolts to proper spec!

    Don’t know how you got that loose turning it clockwise

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Camera trick...its a phone camera front camera recording making you think I am turning it clockwise

    Notice the lettering in truck and oil container are inverted. Consequently you see him loosening plugs to the right, the opposite direction. He was filming thru a mirror??
    Actually he should not publish a video that could be misleading...??

      You really, really need to flip the orientation of the video. When you are removing the fill plug, you do look like you are tighten it instead of removing the plug. People not that familiar with removing nuts/bolts will turn it clock-wise trying to loosen it.

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lefty loosey righty tightly! You just need to remember that mantra

    All your gear oil change has a ton of oil leak on the outside. Gotta take care of this

    • @EngineeredMojo
      @EngineeredMojo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No leakage, just grime from road thankfully! My truck is running great for over 300k
