  • Hello! Thanks for joining in! In this video, i'm building the Trumpeter HMS Roberts Monitor in 1/350, which has quite a lot to offer, many PE parts, highly detailed plastic parts and a very unusually shaped ship are what you get.
    The kit has no fit issues or other flaws, and is highly recommendable and enjoyable.
    The music used in this video is taken from:

    Great video, thank you for sharing. Looks like this ship has a decent size for an RC modification...

    I love your description "smaller chonkier Nelson" these coastal gunboats are cool

      It reminded me of the nelson-class when i looked at the box art, i mean, it has only one turret so the chances it is infront of the superstructure are very high but still, somehow similar in looks, with the big bridge and all. :)

    One correction when you said the wash to get a dirty look I think you mean weathering because it supposed to be that the paint was heavily eroded

    • @funinscale2892
      @funinscale2892  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i've mostly seen it on black and white photos, and there it looks like a dark shade, with sharp edges and random patterns, most likely it is as you said, eroded instead of dirty

    Hi greetings from Iowa USA! Wondered if you have done any recent builds? I caught the USS SULLIVANS build and enjoy you skill. I have learned much grim it! Take care!

      Hi Jerry! Glad you enjoy my videos, it is also very fun to make them and even better if viewers like them! :) I have recently uploaded a Yamato in 1/450 scale, which is the most recent video (Not counting an electric roller in 1/12 scale, a click kit), but other than that, the Sullivans is still the most recent one! Thanks for being a frequent viewer!

    Trying to get this in my country is near impossible as none of the online shops or brick and mortar shop also don't have.

      It definitely looks unfamiliar! what i think is the most interesting is the extremely wide hull that doesnt go that deep into the water. Imagine the ship would flip over if the main gun is fired sideways!

      @@funinscale2892 I think the Roberts-class monitors were fairly stable, but there is a story that when the targets assigned to HMS Roberts were getting too far inland for her to hit with her guns at maximum elevation, the gunnery officer hit on the idea of firing the guns abeam to set up a rolling motion, and then timed the next shots fired to take place at the moment of maximum roll angle, thus giving the guns a few more vital degrees of elevation, and thus a few more hundreds (possibly thousands) of yards of range that they could throw those big 15-inch shells to. 🙂

    Great job, one small complaint, the music playing when you started the wash was awful and distracting, just saying. Keep up the good work. ps, there are lots of good free music out there, all you have to do is mention the artist/artists at the end of your vlog to negate copyright.
