Fun in Scale
Austria
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 12 ส.ค. 2020
Hello!
What i plan doing on this channel:
Building model kits (armor, ships, less planes), building dioramas or vignettes for them, building and painting figures (fantasy (DnD) or military) in many different scales and 3D-Printing of accessoires or figures.
My passion is modelling, which i have done several years for myself now, but, as many other modellers would agree, you do want to share your work, get feedback, constructive criticism and not only build for yourself.
While i am following many very talented modellers on youtube, i am probably not as skilled as most of them, but, as the channel name suggests, for me, modelling is only about fun and joy, creating interesting and beautiful things.
So the thing inspired me the most to start such an experiment was the Mediocre Modellers Club by Andys Hobby Headquarters. While others seek perfection in their models, most of us do it because they enjoy it.
Best regards,
Peter

I'm no expert in car models, so there is some orange peel effect on the hull and the clear parts for the windshield were damaged by liquid glue. Fallout 4: Red Rocket Truck Stop Diorama Scratchbuild
มุมมอง 5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Hi! Thanks for visiting the channel! In this video, i wanted to make a building from a video game, Fallout 4. Most of the diorama is scratch built with some 3D printed objects. It was a little too quickly thought-out and so there are some problems with the scene, especially the chosen materials. But i like the outcome, still! In this video, I am building HMS Iron Duke from Airfix, an older kit and participant of the recent Vintage poll, but I have looked forward to this for quite a while, and I have enjoyed making it! Nicely done Mate
My great grandfather served on her in the 1920s. She looked very different then!
Wow soo cool, too back the Littorios never got their glorious decisive battle like the Yamatos.
Nice
Should i pick up this kit?
The detail kit for this is $500. Yes, it does a great job and replaces some of the kits PE with 3D print parts… but honestly unless you are making a museum quality display a lot of these expensive detail up kits are not worth it. $2-300 model + $500 upgrade kit + $100 worth of paint and consumable supplies. Also $1k to sit on a shelf. Not hating, just for the average person the ROI isn’t there. I buy some expensive kits and some upgrade kits myself.
Nicely done! I just got to visit her in Galveston Bay, she looks beautiful after her overhaul. Hopefully they'll find a home for her soon, and will be taken care of properly unlike what happened at the San Jacinto Monument.
My grandfather was serving on her at Jutland, thanks for posting.
How long did it take you from start to finish?
Beautiful model - almost perfect except the Union Jack was upside down😊
Union flag on the Jack, is upside down.
In regards to your question about camo pattern. The one you have there in the instructions is known as measure 32 - It was used by ships in 1944, before they reverted to measure 22 in 1945. Measure 32 was considered effective against other ships during battle, the switch to Measure 22 was designed for ships primarily used for shore bombardment. Given they were not expected to be completed until mid 45 - Measure 22 is the most likely. Having said that I recently completed USS Guam in measure 32, and it creates a great visual addition to the model. As well as being a lot of fun to do.
When there will ever be realistic model chains with central studs? Maybe by printing them in 3D?
I would like this but my wife !😳🤬
Hi, i'm making a Diarama, i can scale. But i'm having trouble with tanks.... my ground vehicles are 1:76, while aircraft are 1:72 as these are scale for what i'm doing. But do i use 1:76 or 1:72 tanks?! Please help! Haha! Thanks in advance.
Just came across this. Great model and I only use brush and tamiya spray cans and dont have (nor want) an Airbrush. I have built the Schnell 100 1/35 Elco PT 1/35 Japanese Patrol boat 1/72 USS New York (LPD 21) 1:350 Yamoto 1/350 Yorktown 1/350 and Hiru 1/350 not an airbrush in site all by hand and spray cans. Works fine for me so well done a great job which I am build at the moment myself.
American Carriers do not and never have had hull numbers.
Please accept a small but well-intended comment. There is no such thing as a "building" on a ship. You are working on the bridge structure that is part of the superstructure. My comment is meant in good spirits. PS: I'm a "Yank" with 24 years of naval service. You are doing well! Bill
Sorry, forgot to compliment you on a fantastic job. Really nice.
My wife's father Sgt A W Harvey DSM RM service number X47, served on board the entire war and was at Salerno and D Day. He was the gunnery sergeant in the twin 15" turret. One of the guns is on display at the Imperial War Museum in south London. As well as the DSM he was wounded by shrapnel and was mentioned in dispatches.
I'm building this same kit right now, and it's really helping guide me get through some tough areas. Thank you!
Hi there thinking of getting this one looks great , nicely done.. what's the finished length cheers
Stunning work
I built this a few years ago thought the crane jibs should have been PE
I've recently bought this kit with the Flyhawk detail set. I'll be interested to see how it turns out with the after market added.
Great effort that came out brilliant👍. Love the old Airfix kits.
Excellent Model . HMS Rodney was one of the ships that blasted the Bismarck . 🇬🇧 ⚓
There is a book about HMS Belfast by the maritime historian Brian Lavery which describes the design, construction of the ship and her wartime career and after. It has opened my eyes as to how complex these ships were and how much thought went into them. Of course she was built when Britain was still a world power and we had lots of shipbuilders and thousands of skilled workers.
Hello mr funis!me as armormodeller must say I have highest respect to the shipbuilders.i call my self as an experienced modeller.but 2b honest, that baby is a above my skillz. With best regards and sticky greetings from Brandenburg germany.faithfully yours.your modellmate.christian
Yamato needed to be the other turret with the AAA on the roof and a few guns on the deck........ or better still both front turrets.........like WOW.
i wish to see more like this on youtube. I mean straight forward build without any kind of 3rd party detail enhancer and paint brush only. i didnt expect you also draw camo pattern with just brush without any decals, palletes sort of things :)
It seems disappointing that they did not line up the seams on the turret with the vents/pipes to help hide them for those who struggle with blending large joins. Would have been an easy win.
Well done sir. How long did it take you?
3:40 Not a radar dome. It's an artillery director/rangefinder. Most likely for the AA guns, given its placement. It's an optical device, not a radio-based one. Whenever you see something that has two "tubes" or "ears" sticking out on the side it's highly likely this is the ends of a rangefinder. Blucher had radar, but only one, and the antenna was out in the open, mounted on the big director/rangefinder that is at the top of the superstructure. A thin flat mesh of metal wires or rods. It's not visible on the model.
elegant !
As a Naval Avaitor, curren Serving aboard the Dorris Miller (CVN 81), at time of composition, I am glad your are using naval-appropriate terminologies. Not only am I the CO, I am also a Squadron Commander ;VFA 41(The Phoenix).
What’s all the difference between this and the deluxe VF kit? Just way more photo etch and metal guns ? I’m in between getting this or the trumpeter kit. Trying to keep the build under $500 if possible lol. Ship looks sick tho!
Nice work. I just bought the 1/500 scale from Atlantis in the gift shop after visiting the NC. I'm hoping to make a $15.00 model into something a little more special I can proudly display. Same fit issues as with most models but with a little work, who knows! I think I'm going to paint the measure 32 paint scheme and teak decks she sits with today.
I went aboard in 1985 for a mere 5 dollars and spent 3 rolls of film. The staff allowed me to visit most of the ship freely. The officers wardroom where they took their meals was closed but I got a nice shot of the table through the doors glass window. At Manila Bay engaging the Spanish fleet a Spanish cannonball shattered a starboard side port hole on Olympia and broke a table in the crew galley. That seems to be the extent of her damage. USS Olympia is located at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia as a floating museum. You really must see it.
Это поистине произведение исскуства я вас поздравляю
i just got this kit for $33 yeah i am also dissapointed no full hull. I should have watched your video before purchase. But being a proud Texan i am going to try to make it special.
Why dont you upload new assemble model kits?
Done well,just buy
Great build instruction. My only negative is you made it look easy...and I know my 1973 Airfix 1/600 HMS Belfast won't be...but not for lack of a good example. Cheers!
which light grey was used? Sky gray very good job
Looks way better than their LCS-22 Independence
I'm 73, and looking for something to keep me occupied when I finally retire. I remember building plastic ship models as a boy, and a few balsa and tissue paper aircraft, and enjoying a model railroad. I never achieved anything like the standards of your model building, but the way you present your videos is very encouraging and I'm preparing to invest in my first 1/350 warship kit. Which one? Well, that's not quite decided yet. Like my Dad used to say...."It's the decisions that kill ya!"
my lady does nails with from like nothing and some of the stuff they use for nails i feel with suport can be used to make fill in for windows and stuff and its not too pricey some of it could also mold with it
Will you came back?😢
