  • Hello! Thanks for visiting the channel.
In this video, i build and paint the USS Independence from Trumpeter in 1/350 scale.
As it has a very distinctive and unique shape, i really looked forward to this kit. It has many PE parts and decals included, but their quality is not exceptionally good - as it is a slightly older Trumpeter kit, the PE parts are extremely fragile and the decals keep their shiny finish for a long time when applied. The plastic parts are not that numerous, but nicely detailed.
To summarise, the kit is quite fun and not that big of a challenge, but the PE parts can easily frustrate modelers - as usual.
For the price this kit is mostly on sale, you get a beautiful and interesting vessel for your collection!

Red rust is entirely inappropriate for USS Independence, she's all in aluminum alloy. You did a good job on the paint, given that Trumpy appears to use a drunken psychic and a quija board for color callouts. USN flightdecks have a specific material applied to them that starts out as a near black color (close to NATO Black) that becomes polychromic with age. Trumpy also fails to mention that the flight decks nets are only lowered for Flight Operations, and raised the rest of the time. They also missed a decimal place with the tie-down rings, they are about 10xx too large in the kit (if the right quantity and pattern).
A good build of a now retired ship.

A friend of mine has a Bismarck kit from Revell in 1/350, which he wants me to build for him, but due to lockdown, i cant get it for now. In the future, there will be a Bismarck video for sure, is the Tone from Tamiya?

@@abdddullll The hull paint is Flat Black from Tamiya, the darker portions of the decks are Dark Sea Grey from Tamiya, the hull colour has different shades of grey, i used Sky Grey, a very light tone, then Light grey, a slightly darker grey to make random patterns over the hull, and then a mix of both Sky Grey and Light Grey to blend all together. Sky Grey and Light Grey are from Tamiya as well. The Phalanx CIWS have Flat White tops, some details were brush painted with Medium Grey from Tamiya (like small armament, measurement instruments)

@@abdddullll Thanks! I mostly use Tamiya colours to paint with airbrush (diluted with isopropyl alcohol, because its cheaper than professional thinner), for hand painting i have a variety of paints but i mostly use Italeri acrylic paints diluted with some tap water, hope this helps

Happy new year, I like this class of Littoral Combat Ship, over the Freedom variant.

Happy New Year to you as well! Glad you like it, i think her uniqueness makes her much more interesting as a model. are those pad eyes those hooks where they attach the helicopters after landing?

Yes, that is what the pad eyes are for.

Hello! Thank you for the compliments! When painting the metal parts, i use an airbrush and Tamiya paints. Tamiya paints are great for painting metal parts as well as plastic parts! Do you mean the small copper parts?

@@funinscale2892 hallo, yes i remember, but i would know the differences fron the plastic parts of the model and the metals parts ...sometime i se that people buy them in a kit a part , but if after it are covered with paint...where is the differences?...only in moneypoket??😂😂

@@robertomander6030 Thank you for your compliments, its very nice and i appreciate it very much!
The advantage of the small metal parts is that the manufacturers can make much finer details with them, for example, extremely thin rods which would break when made from plastic can be made with metal parts. If you look closely at the railings around the ship you can see how fine they are - which also means that they are quite fragile and hard to handle, I needed several kits of exercise before i got some adequate results

This boat and all her sister ships are being taken out of service because of severe hull and deck cracking due to inadequate engineering for strength . I think bulkheads 34 and 35 and 51 main deck ... Read Navy Times....
