Late, but kudos to you for this, especially without using Rock Candies from Mushroom Boy or that item from Grate Guy's Casino to cheese Exor and the Axem Rangers
5:27 He goes after whoever is in the middle slot. For instance my first play through I had Mallow in the middle slot and was repeatedly dying 1. Because I was SEVERELY underleveled 2. I barely had FP so I swapped Mallow for Geno and won the very next try! 😂
I feel like you could have saved yourself a lot of trouble by equipping accessories that prevent status ailments and/or Insta-death. Everyone is getting turned into mushrooms? Have them all wear Trueform Pins. Etc. And Peach in particular thrives while wearing something that protects her from Insta-death, since she'll just revive the other party members who aren't protected from that.
Just so you know, when youre on the path to the Cloud Kingdom. The reason why that jump from the Yellow to the green is so difficult is because if you jump STRAIGHT up, a yellow tile will appear. Yeah i know. I spent like10 minutes trying to make that jump and discovered it accidentally.
I’m not the biggest fan of Action Commands in Mario RPGs, so I’d love for the next Mario RPG to have an option to turn off Action Commands. Mario RPG is still a good game, I just wish its battle system was more like Pokémon’s because I am awful at timing
Damn, serious kudos for this challenge! Didn't think Super Mario RPG would be remotely viable without action commands. And yeah it's a great game. As someone who didn't get to try it in the SNES era, I really enjoyed my playthrough of the Switch one recently too.
I realized after being softlocked in the mushroom purgatory that the village right before sells the accessory that prevents mushroom and scarecrow magic . _.
Bro how long has the game even been out for???? You already made a great, fully edited video about doing a challenge run of the whole game ❤❤ Well EXCCUUUUUUUUUSSEEE MEEEEEEEE anyway great video :)🎉
Btw you probably know this - but the claymorton boss rematch in last area (the grey one).. Literally the best place to grind from what I have tried. I made everyone to level 30 there using the exp accessory, and it only took like an hour or so. I don't think there's any better place in the game
I grinded on the Speardovich (I don’t know how to spell either of his names. Lol) right by the factory door and just stood underneath him so I got thrown right into the battle.
5:30 If I remember correctly, that 1v1 fight is always the person in the middle so you can pick who fights it to some degree. It can never be Mario as he is always the left most position but possible for the other four to be in the middle slot.
tbh without action command is not hard at all, the game is designed to be easy, its without equipment thats hard, you are bound to receive all status effects and receive highest damage, while dealing the least amout of damage possible its where item play and timed hits comes in, imo that needs more strats than just tanking damage with armors and stuff
one of the most interesting challenge runs for mario rpg remake that I'm looking forward to for some content creators to do is 1. a run from specifically mushroom way all through the end of the game with a 999 chain, and that 999 chain has to be grinded in mushroom way before the hammer bros boss, as that's the official start. if the chain breaks thats a reset to the last save or auto-save. or, if you have the "earlier times" item then the fight should be reset at that moment. 2. a run that involves a theoretical perfect chain, where the chain is built from mushroom way to the end of the game, avoiding all non-mandatory battles. if it breaks at all or a non-mandatory normal encounter enemy moves first and attacks, that a reset to the last save/auto-save. basically its a low-level run with the theoretical perfect chain start to finish. Auto-save's an absolute blessing for these runs, its incredibly helpful the one i'm doing is simply "carry the 999 chain til the end of the game" and its a very fun challenge. bundt and raspberry are legit deff the hardest brick wall of these chain challenges, specifically since their attacks are near-instant or have a large delay to throw you off with their respective light orb.
Every time Geno died/was dead:
2:56, 3:07, 3:35, 4:18, 6:45, 7:31, 8:18
and 11:50
@@awsmrsThx. Skipped the ending so I didn't see that
Also, add 11:29
The life of a "Glass Cannon" being able to nuke but dying to the merest tickle.
@@ChampionSushima it’d be pretty in character for Geno to die if someone tickled him. He doesn’t have much tolerance for perceived disrespect
The joke of Geno dying and a single note of Sad Song being played was killing me
6:22 are those the fricken mighty morphin power rangers.
5:14 There's an invisible platform above the yellow beanstalk.
I'm so sorry you found out this way.
ah
THANK YOU KIND STRANGER!
Stupid place to put it tbh, could've had the yellow stalk be slightly darker so you would think there's something above you.
Discovered this the hard way as well lol struggled with this for over 20 minutes before hitting the platform by accident i was mad af lolol
I feel scammed. I feel bamboozled.
This game was such an incredible return to form, really hope a direct sequel is made.
The original director of mario RPG said he would like to retire with an actual direct sequel to this game.
But, it's not up to him if that happens
5:26 for this battle dodo always picks the member in the middle so you can decide
2:05 This particular Shadow was also a "Special Enemy" (I like to call them "Elites", after risk of rain), meaning higher stats.
oh rip, missed that haha
5:00 I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found that UNBELIEVABLY hard... more difficult than Smithy. 😂
Late, but kudos to you for this, especially without using Rock Candies from Mushroom Boy or that item from Grate Guy's Casino to cheese Exor and the Axem Rangers

Yeah, I guess I don't know the game that well lmao
Geno boost is so OP that it makes timed hits redundant.

Bro I freaking love the “Oh wait geno’s dead again?” bits XDD
Love the video btw! You’re very cool Mayro :D
Can you do a Google translated version of this game? There’s a LOT, LOTS of dialogues in this game.
Nobody has figured out text editing yet but I want to!!
I have played a translated version of the original on stream but for this game it would be cool
@@MayroSMMmight be in a text folder or something like that.
This was definitely a great watch, and a pretty insane way to play SMRPG , but I'm glad you did it and not me 😂
I feel like since u did know how to grind coins u can get the frying pan for peach and lazy shell for mario
Geno is one of the most powerful characters but his defense is so bad
RIP Geno.
Omg this was amazing id love to see more mario rpg challenge runs like this :3
Can you continue this challenge with Culex, the post-end-game bosses, and Culex 3D? lol
4:06 knife guy 🪱

5:02 on the yellow beanstalk if you jump right up there's an invisivble platform
As someone who didn’t know Action Commands existed on the SNES version I clicked on this video so fast you have no idea
5:15 If you jump, will reveal an invisible platform. Yeah, I'm dumb too.
Alternate Title, Can you Beat Super Mario RPG While Playing it as a Traditional JRPG:
WAIT THERE'S A FIRST BOOSTER FIGHT?? How did I miss this?!
You successfully hid behind the curtains.
Bro I can’t even beat Valentina normally 💀
4:58 I just did the beanstalk today. Yes, it was absolute hell, and the same thing that happened to Mayro happened to me. Twice.
I realized after being softlocked in the mushroom purgatory that the village right before sells the accessory that prevents mushroom and scarecrow magic . _.
Mayro You're The Best At Making These Videos!
9:05 This is actually how I beat Culex when I played the original. It made that fight... a bit anticlimatic
for dodo i think the one in the middle will always fight him
Bro how long has the game even been out for???? You already made a great, fully edited video about doing a challenge run of the whole game ❤❤

I died of laughter with the immediate cutaway from sad song whenever Geno dies.

All the intense fight with Axem Rangers only to get 17 exp, "I feel scammed" hahaha that got me. Same reaction I got too
He's Mack the Knife, IDC, LOL
"He knows about timed hits!"
DOES he?
Im surprised you did not equip the safety ring and safety badge to prevent the statuses
I think I had them? Honestly not sure haha.
I'm surprised you didn't do any of the rematches because there was post game
I can’t believe the vines are still this janky even in the remake.
True to the source material I guess lol
I wonder if this would be possible without grinding
Geno, oh no! Anyways...

If you want the game to be harder don't use triple moves
I didn't!
