      Does it hold value?

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what card it is, but most likely not. If it is damaged, the value drops drastically, unless it's a 1st edition Blue Eyes White Dragon or Dark Magician from LOB for instance, or a ghost rare..

    Thank you for showing examples with the conditions, I have been wondering more about this for a while as I have recently found a stash of my old cards. Sadly a lot of them are "heavy played" or "moderately played" at best, as a kid I never cared about using sleeves or keeping them in good conditions which now I really regret haha

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I know the feeling very well.. haha

      If you plan on grading them, go with BGS, PSA or GCG, the big three. Any other grading companies won't make you any profit.
      Once graded, look at sold listings on eBay to get an idea for the price you can get for the grade and company.

    What I've taken from this video is - it doesn't actually matter about card rarity, what makes a card valuable is, playability, age and actual rarity in the real world. Of course condition comes in as well. But the difficult thing is that a simple trap card could be useless to someone yet invaluable to someone else. I've never played DNA transplant, but since grazing over it, I really want to try it with a certain card combo, not saying that card would be or could be valuable, but someone would probably pay 5 times more than someone else because they need the card

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rarity does play a factor with cards that got reprints in different rarities, however. A card that has only two different prints ever, one let's say a Starlight rare, the other an ultra rare, the latter will be less expensive simply because of its rarity being more common than a Starlight, even if it doesn't see a lot of play.
      So pull rate (thus rarity) does matter there.
      And DNA surgery can sure be a fun card! I do recommend testing it out, though not sure how well it holds up to today's decks!

      Japan has a lot more or different promos in the OCG than we do in the English TCG.
      Unfortunately I don't have as much knowledge on those so I'm not able to give a correct answer, especially without seeing them, it might be a fake too for all I know.
      For a better answer I'd suggest the yugioh subreddit, post a picture of the cards and ask if someone has any knowledge about them. There they will be able to help you find the answer you're looking for if it's a legitimate card!

    What is your take on PSA 10 graded cards? Is this a different category from tcgplayer's "Near Mint" category?

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh definitely. Near mint would mean a card can have some minor flaws (small scratch, some imperfection in the corner..). A graded card to reach a 10 would mean they're perfect in every way. Even a little whitening on the edges can knock it down a grade or two.
      For grading, I always only do so with cards I've pulled myself or have seen in person. That to me is the best way of making sure it's in a good enough condition to grade it.
      Sites like tcgplayer will often not offer pictures or just front and back. That's a gamble if you want to send it in for grading. Best to buy in person or seen in multiple angles, in my opinion!

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOB is the first set ever released in the TCG: Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon.
      The only thing to look out for is if it is original or a reprint. The earlier sets got a reprint early 2010's. Some cards are very hard to distinguish from one another. Best way to do this is by looking up a LOB Dark Magician that is 1st Edition, as those are from that first print and original. For that same reason, if yours are 1st edition, ther're original, if not, keep reading haha.
      Compare the text underneath the card with the text on yours to determine if your version is indeed an original or a reprint.
      Some 2010's reprint cards got an updated text, changing it alltogether (an example here is Jinzo or Gate Guardian), making it obvious it's a reprint.
      If the text itself is the exact same, which for Dark Magician I believe is the case, pay attention to the position of the words. If for instance some words are closer to the border of the textbox, or further away, compared to the 1st edition, you have a reprint. Is the text exactly the same and in the same position as the 1st edition cards online, you have an OG card! And as Dark Magician is a fan favourite still, you've got a card with quite some value in your hands!
      I hope I was able to help you with this!
      If you still are unsure, feel free to contact me on my social media (links in description box under the video) and send me some pictures. I'll gladly help! :)

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they don't have anything they're unlimited prints. Depending on what card it is, some can still hold value, but then it will mainly be old cards for nostalgia or new holos.
      In the end, it depends a lot on what someone is willing to pay for it as well of course :)
      I for instance am willing to pay more if it is something specific I am after but can't find many copies of, so when one does pop up, and the price is still acceptable, although perhaps a bit higher, I might still go for it!

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedFaceeee Depends a lot on what set they're from. I'd say that the earlier sets will get you a decent penny on quite some cards (going with commons), whilst later/recent sets won't. Compare it with Base Set for the Pokemon TCG. Even commons in that set still go for € 0,30 and more in a good condition for unlimited ones because they're what got it started. People love that nostalgia, and they're harder and harder to find with every year passing, especially in a mint condition.
      Same with limited cards, really. If you have a promo from one of the original tins, those are worth quite a bit, whilst later sets, again, depend on what card it is and what set it comes from, how often it sees use in competitive play, if there's a reprint.. simply because they're mass produced and still available for purchase today.
      Best advice I can give: sort your cards per set, find out when that set was released and then look up if the commons hold any value using the sites I used in the video. Be sure to sort on 1st edition, condition and language.
      If you see that the commons of the set don't have any value, move to the next one/check holos. That way you get a general idea of your cards' value and you can go through them faster.

    • @BopisTCG
      @BopisTCG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way for the price difference to be that big is to consider the other factors I talked about, such as language, print edition, condition of the card..
      On Cardmarket you can indeed sort all of these except indeed for holo or non-holo. That is because it doesn't exist in Yu-Gi-Oh, unlike Pokemon where you have a regular and a reverse print per card in sets nowadays. Yu-Gi-Oh has plenty of reprints of the same artwork of the same cards, but they're all a different card.
      An example are the three Dark Magician at the start of the video. The rarity is different, but it is the same artwork every time. That's what the set numbers on the right underneath the artwork are for. If you search for Dark Magician on Cardmarket (I suppose you're a fellow European as you use euro) you get a list of all prints ever made. You just need to navigate to the card with the exact same set number as yours. Even one letter of difference (such as mentioned with the European/North American/Asian English sets) means it is a different card.
      So let's say you have found the card on there, you have sorted them on language and the condition yours is in.. prices are still completely different.. that's just what a seller asks for it.
      The exact same card, same condition, but one person asks € 5 and an other asks € 20.. You buy the € 5 one of course.
      This is why I also mention using eBay for older cards especially. They're harder to find, so you will see a huge difference in prices for them. eBay sold listings will however show you what people are actually willing to pay for that card. Because if someone asks € 50 for a € 5 card.. they will never sell it.
      Do keep in mind that there will still be some difference in prices here and there though, as eBay also has shipping and import costs. So sometimes someone will pay € 10 more for the same card that's located in Europe, instead of a cheaper version in the USA because then there's import fees and such involved.
      So, tl;dr: make sure you have the exact same set number you're comparing cards online with as they all are from unique sets, pay attention to the edition, language, condition (especially this!).. and then take a rough estimate of what the cards do sell for to get an idea of the value of your card.
      I hope that this helps you answer your question a bit, otherwise feel free to ask!

      It's a recent print so the websites I've mentioned in the video will definitely give you an answer to your question!

    So if the 1st edition is right in the bottom left of the card isit worthless?

      Not at all, just means it's a more recent print. Of course all comes down to what card it is. A common card will be pretty worthless no matter what year it was printed in, for instance.

      Thankyou for the information. One last thing, does the different languages on cards matter?

      @BopisTCG  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kodaline0911 it does. Non-English cards will in general be worth less. You should be able to sort per language on the websites used in the video, however.
