I've lived in SF for 20 years and never knew those locations. I've been in the Ubisoft building, but didn't know it was the old Rolling Stone building. Thanks so much for showing me around town!
Excellent video. I didn't know he lived on Parnassus or where the original Rolling Stone office were. Very cool. One correction. The Seal Rock is not where he wrote Fear and Loathing. He wrote it, or at least started it, at a hotel across the street from Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, Ca. while he was working on another article about the killing of Ruben Salazar, which is how he met his "attorney"
I would've loved to have experienced just a taste of that. Hunter described La Honda as the "world capitol of madness!" Please check out my latest video where I visit Ken Kesey's former house in La Honda. I love going up there any chance I get : )
I know it’s closed but it would have been cool if you’d mentioned 895 O’Farrell st, too. Hunter was the night manager of the Mitchell Brother’s O’Farrell Theater for a short while in the mid 80’s. I worked there for 8 years as I chased the dragon of his words and worked on my own memoir as a sex worker.
Thanks for the feedback. Totally agreed. Was thinking of including O'Farrell Theatre but time ran short. What an interesting, different part of HST's story that must've been; plus, the Mitchell Brother's themselves. Definitely a story there down the pike. But you are correct....it did happen right here, in this Bay Area Babylon. " I worked there for 8 years as I chased the dragon of his words and worked on my own memoir as a sex worker," Mannnnn, now that sounds like a story.
ain't nothin like the real thing baby.....what a time to be alive !!!

wow I didn’t even know that, I’ve walked by the Ubisoft building a bunch of times on the way to AT&T park

I lived in La Honda for 10 years back in the 90's and it still had that vibe the whole time.

La Honda is also featured heavily in the book "Electric Koolaide Acid Test" and "Hells Angels".
La Honda isn’t what it used to be.
But it also isn’t entirely not what it used to be… ;)
Well said, I really enjoyed this. Liked and subbed. Keep it up Man!!
Could have listened to this for another hour easily. Thank You.

Man, this was awesome. HST would of really enjoyed the 90's SF Rave Culture.
Thanks very much. Indeed, the Good Doctor would've been interested in that scene, just like us.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it. Check back for more next week!

Was it difficult to book the Seal Rock Inn for 305?
No, not at all. You can do it right on their website. Pretty convenient.
