Is a Vented Windshield Better for Summer Riding?

  • Memphis Shades was awesome enough to send me out a 11 inch vented windshield for my Road Warrior fairing. I have been rocking a 15" for winter and spring, but with the hot weather the Midwest is experiencing, I figured more airflow would be a good idea. Watch as I slap this thing on and give a review after a quick ride.

I love those bars and don't worry about the shield being lower then the bars I see lots of road glides and street glides with shields lower then their bars.

I just installed a taller windshield on my Heritage. The up side, it fixed the buffetting I had. Down side, a loss of air flow. Noticeable in this heat. But, I can always take it off when I rip around town. I didn't think about a vented one until your video. I gonna look into that.

Beautiful video! I have that exact same one on my LRS. The only issue with the vented windshield is to keep the fairing clean, a lot of crap gets caught in between.

Hey D , if it’s any consolation , gas up here in Calgary is just under $9 a gallon, that’s for regular, and I put supreme in the sport glide , although we deal in litres. In other words $191.9 a litre for regular.

That’s insane! I just bought a Can Am Spyder F-3S it is suppose to run on premium. I run 93 octane in her, is it expensive? Yes but it’s worth it? Yes, it’s a toy and toys for big boys are costly. Period. 😉

I bought the vented 15” for my 48. Have tried to move it up, down, back, forth, tilted in every possible direction. Insane buffeting no matter what. I will have to scrap it.

I don't think I could ride without the vented down here in Florida. Does a great job of getting controlled air through. One caution: every now and again you'll get a juicy bug that passes through the shield vents but hits the fairing. And you'll be sprayed with the guts.

The slots are designed to disrupt airflow and improve buffeting by reducing buffeting.
