      @@Sunshine_day Made it 440 miles. From Big cypress to the Juniper Springs recreation area. Got the full experience. Cold/hot weather, sloshing through swamps, blisters, and eaten to death by mosquitoes. IT WAS A BLAST.

    I've been that one person tarp tent camper in a sea of RVs and mega tents before in South Lake Tahoe. It made me smile and chuckle a little at the silliness of it all. But, I did enjoy getting a shower and pigging out on Mexican food right across the street.

    Enjoying the series! With the Canada/US border closed, I hiked Mont Saint-Pierre, Mont Jacques-Cartier and Mont Albert last year. Great times! Also camped in a UL shelter in a trailer park. When in Rome…

    Hey Jupiter I love your videos! Thank you for taking us along. I really enjoy backpacking when i get the opportunity. I have a question, in all you hiking adventures, have you ever come across something unexplainable in the woods? Like bigfoot or ghosts or something else? If anyone would run into something strange the odds are you would of seen it. Would love to hear about it sometime!

    Really enjoying this series! I live in Québec Canada. If i may correct a little geo information, when you refer to thé atlantic ocean, it is actually the (very wide) St-Lawrence River. From Forillon, you look at the St-Lawrence Gulf, which poors info the Atlantic ocean.

    When I was a child, we knew the wife of the last light house keeper of Fame Point (Pointe à la renomée). I would visit her with my parents. We would eat cinamon cookies and she would tell us stories about living in a light house. Two of her children burried there, having died of the spanish flue.

    Where were all the bugs? This was the warm/growed-up season. Not counting the high elevation areas with little vegetation, there should have been scores of bugs visible on video flying around everywhere, even if you had repellent on.🤔

    • @JupiterHikes
      @JupiterHikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's one part, no one hikes it because no one else has hiked it. But also maybe because bill bryson didn't write a book about it, dixie hasn't vlogged it, until last year there wasn't a gps track readily available, maybe thru hiking is just a more popular thing outside of canada, it does cross an international border which complicates things, more than half the trail is predominantly french speaking. It's just not as simple as your local neighbor in Georgia dropping off their kid at springer maybe. The lack of resources and certainly the lack of awareness all impact things. Then of course once someone does get there to hike it! it is likely not as easy as they imagined. Just some thoughts. Nearly every trail that isnt the AT, PCT, or CDT is very largely unused, just like the IAT here.

      Until recently it was hard to get information about the trail. It's getting more popular these past 2 years though, since they updated their website and are now on Farout. I met a few people this year, mostly Quebeckers, but also a Floridian hiking the ECT and an Ontarian couple doing a section hike.
