I was a kid in high school in Oregon when Madness had some good songs on the radio. I never bought their album so I hadn’t heard this song until now. It’s incredibly good!
Was just listening to Suggs' 'love letter to London' on the R4. What a love letter to Camden this song is and to all those who have "the feeling of arriving when you've nothing left to lose".
How many different looks does Chas have? 3-4 in this video alone. Wow, Lee's sax solo before the last chorus is so full of complex & conflicting emotions. To me it's like having your heart ripped out or your soul gutted and yet it's triumphant.

The feeling of arriving when you've nothing left to loose
One Of The Greatest Songs Ever
I was a kid in high school in Oregon when Madness had some good songs on the radio. I never bought their album so I hadn’t heard this song until now. It’s incredibly good!
Beautiful track.
Got to admit - one of my all time madness favs!! See you at Sincil on Friday nutty boys
This is madness at their best and that is saying something, beautiful song about an ongoing subject,
Was just listening to Suggs' 'love letter to London' on the R4. What a love letter to Camden this song is and to all those who have "the feeling of arriving when you've nothing left to lose".
Great song, I love putting this on a jukebox and watching the reaction. It just grabs people.
They had the nutty image yet their music had depth emotion and meaning at times. I always liked this song
How many different looks does Chas have? 3-4 in this video alone. Wow, Lee's sax solo before the last chorus is so full of complex & conflicting emotions. To me it's like having your heart ripped out or your soul gutted and yet it's triumphant.
Its frightening how long ago 1984 is now. I was only a kid at the time but it still seems like yesterday. In this video it could be 1954.
My favourite Madness song.
In 2017 I came to Ibiza.. it was the best week i had for so long, i never wanted to leave. The last night in my hotel this was playing on a Spanish radio station.. i used to sob when i heard it when we got home. I live in ibiza now and this song will always be special to me. It has nothing to do with anything lyric wise but it will always remind me of this beautiful place… ❤❤❤❤❤
My favourite Madness track. Doesn't get any better than this people. Tunnnnnnneeee
Did madness write one of the best songs ever? Amazing
A real masterpiece, a fantastic band !
I was (and still am) a big Madness fan and I remember when this was out, I only had enough money to buy one record, I went along to Woolco to buy One Better Day but came away with Bronski Beats Smalltown Boy, I felt sooo guilty, got One Better Day later tho with it's massive free poster.
+Alan Wright Win-win situation surely?
Smalltown Boy is brilliant too. We were so blessed with quality music back then.
A really sad and melancholy song, listen to the words. Underated
You too understand.
They are so unpredictable, they are unique.
Just a beautiful song.
Always reminds me a little of Ralph McTell's Streets Of London...
One of their best....
I agree. (look up Big Train-Streets of London on Y.T, brilliant sketch!)
Oh Madness, always AWESOME, even from the beginning :-)
Beautiful song, loved it back in the early 80’s and still love it now. Madness wrote some class tunes.
she's trying to remember
one better day,
A while ago when people stopped to give her sake
MADNESS NAILED IT IN THIS SONG MUSICALLY ARTISTICALLY AND SOCIALLY
Nope.
She's trying to remember one better day
*A while ago when people stopped to hear her say*
Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes
Walking round you sometimes hear the sunshine
Beating down in time with the rhythm of your shoes
The feeling of arriving
When you've nothing left to loose
Walking round you sometimes
You Feel the sunshine ......
