I love how he explains the reasoning behind doing it rather than just saying his way is best. Which is something very few people do know. They focus on the how not the the why. And that's why Bas is the best.
I love how you explained the reasoning behind why his video is superior to some others' rather than just saying that his way is the best. That's why your comment is the best.
I will reply to you now because...fuck it. I agree completely people who give you tips and don't describe tips piss me off. Bas is a fucking training professional in any circumstance, I hope you have watched all of his videos.
In a karate tournament, I threw a sidekick; the other guy smashed my foot with his elbow down on it, and I limped for a week; the doc said my tendon was damaged by it. So many ways to get hurt throwing punches and kicks; I've broken my thumb tendon throwing a right cross and almost broke it throwing an upper cut. People don't realize the damage. Almost broke my forearm blocking a shin kick, etc. Durability is key in MMA.
Always suprised how lighting fast Bas Rutten can react and control a situation when it's changed. He's not only strong and yes with a lot of humor, he is smart and you can see he is a true master because how he reacts is only posible when you practice over and over again. If we compare with a chef-cook, first learning how to make the starter, then go for the main dish, don't forget the starter and just keep work on that to bring the level higher and higher. A real perfectionist in mine opinion.
He was so serious back then, all business, this Bas was insanely dangerous. Although you still wouldn’t want to pick a fight with him now… actually he might be more dangerous now 😂😂😂all the experience
Bas strikes me as your elite Ancient Hellenic commander or a Gladiator Trainer from Rome with a hell of a record...... he just strikes me the dude who has barely changed for a whole two millennia cause he never had to change...... you know.....he just a solid unchanging cliff face, Mad Respect
Bas Rutten is one of the original legends of ALL time..... if you know fighting, have had fights, real fights on the street... you know what I'm talking about no doubt. much love... ♥🙏
Yep, that's correct. Bas meant that the bio mechanics of both kick is absolutely the same, just the height is different. So if you have good low kick and you are stretched enough - you will have pretty strong high/middle kick also.
It's interesting, in his low and middle kicks he doesn't fully snap/extend the leg when impact occurs. In kyokushin we are taught to fully snap to get the most power, I wonder what the advantages are of not fully snapping, I see it a lot in MMA and kickboxing.
Pete Jams in kyokushin the snap doesn’t add the power it adds the speed to take the kick back especially if it misses, in Muay Thai which most people don’t pull back because they spin through. When they spin through it gives the extra driving force to unbalance your opponent thus accomplishing similar, and you can spin around 360 degrees Plus now you don’t waste energy on pulling back
@Joshua Thompson it's not ball and chain like with a punch though. Where you disconnected fist (ball) from arm (chain) by having having some relaxation in the arm, shoulder muscles at a certain stage of a punch to add snap. A kick with a snap at the end follows that ball chain effect much closer imo.
Hang on, isn't the intro music identical to the pre-fight character portrait screen from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo? Sounds like Capcom might have ripped it off completely!
To be clear Bas is demonstrating a Muay Thai style kick. He is correct about using th shins but it not a must. You can get a lot of whip at distance with a low roundhouse smacking your instep on the outside of the thigh and keep your range. Equally as damaging. Both kicks have a time and place tho.
@@joshhernandez5069 Still applies though. I have seen Thai boxers use a variety of kicks from instep to shin contact and flippy point style to traditional Thai style. Whatever suits the moment although you have to be extremely confident in your accuracy. Hitting an elbow hip or knee with my foot terrifies me.
Back when fighting was done by real men, and not everything was commercialized for general consumers. Notice: none of the equipment has any logos on them, including the fighters.
Very informative…like how Bas explains the reasoning behind why one way of doing things is superior to another. Would be interested to know how to condition the bare knuckles feet and shins so you build up resistance to contact pain
*Please* let me know that when doing kicks like thigh kick, calf kick and the mid round house kick, is your foot suppose to be flexed or the toes pointed? I have no martial arts or fighting background so confused on the shin kick, that should you flex your feet when kicking or point your toes like swimming flutter kick?
Thats how he fought basic but everything was thrown with bad intentions . Let’s pray for the people who run into Bas back in the day and picked a fight with him in a bar or so must be a horrible experience 😂😂

James Pappas yeah what you all said times infinity.

"He punch you in the face.....it's not what you want.". Sage advice Bas.

No one is more unintentionally funny as Bas Rutten.
hahaha yeah exactly!
Khabib is even more funny
Mike tyson lol
It’s always the dangerous guys who are unintentionally funny.

Id say he was most dangerous before his bicep tore or whatever the proper term is. Its took him years to rebuild it where its not so noticable now
I like this 90's porn style of music

Well ofcourse you do, who doens't love 90's porn.

One of the best videos I’ve seen on proper fighting technique!! Mr Bas Rutten is a living legend. Thank you sir!
Bas is a beast , I love how clean and controlled he shows these techniques , that's years of repetition and training on full display
Widać tą moc, zbite mięśnie, mocne ścięgna i więdzadła, świetnie wytrenowany układ nerwowy. Prawdziwy zawodnik!
I love seeing the evolution of Bas's accent over the years. It's noticeably thicker here than in later years.
One of the only in instructional videos done intelligently enough to show the punches from different angles. Awesome!
Always remember to only use underwear while you punch and kick
How to end a fight in 10 seconds: strip in your underwear!

Anderson Silva Disagrees with the Shin bone kick!😂😂
Chris Weidman too 😂
He looks very young, i learned from this guy the mechanism of kick, his fights in The japanese league are awsome
I like the way people down voted this .Like they know better then Bas hilarious
Bas will find the down-voters and explain to them how foolish they were to down-vote his video!
The lowkick is the same as the highkick. Only the highkick is different! :D

There is definitely a Super Nintendo Game with this music, maybe Battle Toads or Double Dragons
Or Street Fighter.
Simple techniques are usually the best techniques.
He's got the best stand up in MMA
Such a fantastic physique he had too. Pure functional.

+strongforce79 i dont think he did anything to invent basic punching and kicking
+Ficken Chinger Pioneer of the sport not fighting techniques
His wrestling and grapling came later, but his early styles of training helped him win anyway. Amazing man.
