I've always loved your channel but ever since you have gone full time with it, added Peter and Max to the team, and starting uploading more it has been awesome. You put in a lot of work and it shows. Not only working on the cars and filming, but the amount of leg work it takes to manage all these projects and their parts and plans. Thanks Alex, love the content, keep it up.
Sorry guys, I know it was confusing that I showed 5w30 and 5w40 during the oil change but I did not mix. I just used the 5w30 which is what BMW calls for. I just had the other weights oil out with the other products to show them all off and accidentally had them in the scene where I'm filling the oil.
If you want to know how to deep clean buttons or sticky area in the interior, use a steamer and steam clean, don’t get to close and you can fade the buttons and if that happens just get some ceramic coating just tiny bit and put it over the button and it bring it back to look new again
Technically you can mix oils, you can make a 5w35, I would only do it with matching oils tho, and BMW's will take anything from 0w30 to 5w40, only in hot climates tho.

Chasing a bad coil in a BMW V8, you'll end up replacing all 8. Coils are about $20 each when you aren't paying the "need it now tax" at the auto parts store. The N63 / S63 engines have rod bearing issues too.
You have my respect sir Alex. You have spread values through working with machines. I learn from your behavior more than the mechanical stuff you teach. From Iran.
Been a subscriber for a long long time, gotta say LSC is THE best, very educational, fun, and actually finishes projects. I personally have learned a lot about the M113K and ABC cars… I just got a 2007 SL55.
Worth noting that MB and BMW (Germany) parent companies set and enforce spare parts prices and the dealers have no say, US prices and arent too bad btw compared Aussie prices which can be 10 plus times the price of OE..... I actually buy US dealer parts with stuff I cant buy from Rockauto and FCP, Volvo in particular but Benz as well.
You actually NEED to change all coils. 4.4 v8 bmw from 2009 to 2011 got problems with misfiring. And the only way to fix this issue is to change all spark plugs, all coils, and all fuel injectors. Also it’s recommended to change all plastic ventilation, and vacuum hoses.
if you don't already have one, you should invest in a portable steamer to clean the stuff up with, they work so well on almost anything you will ever need to clean or disinfect
Just well done Alex, your enthusiasm and honesty is why I subscribe. Congrats with all the success ! Thanks for making the world go away, and providing me so much entertainment. Cheers !
In case anyone is in a situation with bad ignition coils, replace them all at the same time, and replace them with a good, reputable brand lick Bosch. It's generally not a great idea to only replace one with some random brand. If one is dead, the rest are surely soon to follow. Cheap coils are almost as unreliable as old ones.
Beautiful and excellent job restoring it! Satisfying to watch the whole process. The only let down is the headlights. They appear hazy and could benefit from some restoration.
This video reminds me of a car I have here. 2015 Skoda Superb Wagon (Like a VW Passat 1.8t). 1 Owner car and what i believe happened is the owner had the low oil light come on, either her or her husband filled it oil, all the oil! Then I met the owner by chance and she mentioned her car had broken down and was shopping for a brand new one, so i helped her get the car she wanted at the right price. I had no interest in a non running Skoda but she suggested I could have it very cheap, $1000 with 170k kms. Ok then. It was in a mechanics carpark, I rang the mechanics they said the engine had jumped timing and needed a second hand replacement at $7500. I had the car towed back to my place. Long story short we removed the fouled spark plugs, drained the oil back to factory max level and fitted new plugs. Drives like new. Very strange! I will say for everyone of these there are 10 that are worse than they seemed in the first place or someone had been covering up serious and expensive issues. Well done Alex that Alpina is so freaking awesome.!!
22:59 I had a non-BMW glass installed once and the auto wiper system didn't work as good as the BMW glass (E91 in the UK), so next time I will specify genuine glass.
As a BMW technician for over 20 years I always advise you to do all Coil packs and spark plugs. Service the Turbo. If you do the fuel system prime 4xs 15 to 17 secs per each times. Then clear codes then run for 5 to 10 minutes. Road test.

Tip! Copper washers, for drain plug, just heat them with propane torch until they glow then let them cool in room temperature and then you can reuse them as new, this only works like 2-3 times though, then you will need a new one, but once totally ok, done this many times. :) Sure, new one is the best, but if you are stuck, this will work, at least once, it will not leak. :)

You dont have to drain the tank to get rid of the water. Pour about half a liter of turpentine or white spirit into the tank. It bonds molecularly with the fuel and the water together and the water gets pulled thru with the fuel. Had similar on my 1.6 liter twingo.
Excellent work as always!...when you sprayed the Tuff Stuff into the small detail brush for the console clean it sounded like a Transformer transforming! 🤣🤣 (29:23)
Very honest to your viewers, this should be driven a couple times a year and driven hard to keep the parts lubricated. Loved the video, now when is Peter going to work on the Starion?

Standard Ignition parts have been around since I was a kid and I'm 72 now. I considered them to be the best around. The Blue Streak was a upgrade or High Performance part's of Standard. I think I may still have some new points and considers in my shop somewhere from back in the day. Anyway enjoy your videos. God Bless and keep y'all safe.
Alex, if you haven't come across him yet, check out Stretton at M539 Restorations. You'll discover that the Alpinas are inherently flawed and unfortunately you will be chasing unicorns trying to fix it. There is nothing he doesn't know about BMW's and he replaced and repaired two Alpina engines from scratch and they both broke in his Car. The only solution is to find a BMW engine (forget which one) and build it to Alpina specs.
My local repair shop diagnosed and changed 2 coils for 120 euros, so it wasn't too bad. Would've cost me more if I bought the code reader + coils myself. 700$ for one coil change at a dealer sounds weird..

Thanks for finishing it up!! yes not getting projects out the door is the bane of TH-camrs. great job. Lived in Japan so looking forward to some of the Nipon action.
This car has come so far in the past 6 months glad to see it come out looking so good 💙
Thanks for the honesty. Folks assume but should inform themselves that this is a high performance and therefore high maintenance vehicle. That being said, I really like this one!
Absolutely love your videos. I’ve been with you since the early days. You’re just consistently great & watchable.
Thanks man! Appreciate that!
Another wonderful video. Some of the best entertainment on TH-cam that you can find. Loved the honesty about the expectations of the car at the end of the video. Thank you.
A TH-cam channel that "finishes what it starts". I love it!
Man you are getting close to a mill now! I remember when you were just getting close to 200k
Just started watching ur channel, absolutely love it. I live in Michigan so I know bout the rust on some cars. I really love ur eclipse, it's been a dream since I went school back in the 90s to own one. I hope the build comes out awesome. White is my fav on cars like that. Please keep great videos coming.
Hello Alex! I'm impressed with your restoration projects I clicked the subscribed button so fast lol. That BMW Alpina B7 looks brand new Fantastic work!!!!
Wish it was in the budget.. That is anicely done car. Thanks for sharing the process.
0:53 that car flying past is an acura zdx, made mostly in conjunction with the honda crosstour (which i drive), but wow, ive never seen one outside of pictures
Alex, I love the way those guys changing the glass ripped the seal out and threw glass all over the back seat and elsewhere
As a former partsman (nearly 20 years ago), surprised you hadn't heard of Bluestreak - except for the fact you were a Mercedes mechanic. Been around since before the 2000 (when I started.)
22:50 That Rear Glass is Definitely Made In South Africa, SABS = South African Bureau of Standards. I was taken by surprise when i saw the Logo/Trademark
PETER, I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE YOUR BACK ON LEGIT. A TON OF US MISSED YOU. ROCK ON YOUNG MAN.
Blue Blue streak from standard back in the old days did the best points and condenser’s distributor caps
Just thankful for you guys. Always informative, and I'm sure I'm learning something by listening and watching you all!
Don't deny that the "We actually finish cars" bit wasn't a stab at Samcrac haha. Seriously, I love your videos Alex. You are motivating me to get my SAAB channel up off the ground.
Hey Alex I have a 2002 Audi A4 3.0 cabriolet and a 2016 vw Passat plus a number of 90s American cars hahaha! But I’d really like to some of you magic on older Audi’s and vw’s I have a soft spot for these rides, and would love to see what you can do. Thank -J
As someone who is an English language nerd, I adore you for putting the answer on screen.
Best channel on TH-cam. 100%
Very honest to your viewers, this should be driven a couple times a year and driven hard to keep the parts lubricated. Loved the video, now when is Peter going to work on the Starion?
Dude, youre one of kind! Amazing series to watch and learn, I appreciate the content!
I always watch whatever Alex&team r working @ and I enjoy the enthusiasm and craftsmanship, also learning a lot about repairing vehicles just by following the uploads on this channel.Thumbs up from 🇸🇪 👍🙂
Watching the Alpina on M&M’s now. Whom ever gets this beauty is going to be soooo happy!!
its great to see cars finished. you've become one of my top channels to watch. my son has also started watching all your videos. Also learning a lot about US cars. the paintwork resto was my favourite video so far.
I had a 2004 745i SPort and loved the way it drove. Maintenance was a pain and I did a lot myself.
Nook is just like peter said. A small opening/room in a home. I looked up cranny and its a small narrow opening in a wall, rock etc.
Blue Streak coils are good. I use them on all of my vehicles
My local repair shop diagnosed and changed 2 coils for 120 euros, so it wasn't too bad.
Would've cost me more if I bought the code reader + coils myself.
700$ for one coil change at a dealer sounds weird..
I absolutely LOVE this channel! You guys are so thorough and passionate about this work. I have learned sooooo many things about my BMWs, to include a 2014 Alpina. Fortunately, my guy at BMW service is like you guys. He keeps them all in pristine shape! When I come back for a new life, I want to have this much passion and skill with cars! 😅
I laughed my ass off when you posted the origin and meaning of nook and cranny. Just one more reason why this is my favorite car channel
Those are hair beads, I've seen it many times on braided hair. That alpina is beautiful!
