Check out Tori's video here!! Seriously, this lady has just shattered my heart into a million pieces with her kindness: th-cam.com/video/4AB_8_T3Do4/w-d-xo.html
Wowowow! I’m just, FLOORED! That was amazing! Guh, all the gorgeous shots of the coloring mixing and walking us through both painting process was a true treat! I love how in both of your pieces, you enable both of the colors to really shine. So much clarity in your washes. And the way you paint with larger brushes 😍😍😍😍 takes my breath away!! Thank you so much for including me in the fun! BIG HUGS!!!!! You’re the real mvp!
I really appreciate that you include the paintings that you are less satisfied with. I think it shows artists that not all creations will be things you love or like. With things like instagram or youtube, generally we only see what people decide are their best works so it makes us feel like they have nothing but things that are worthy of sharing. It's good for artists to see that the reality is very different than what we see on social media. If that makes sense. :> Anyway I want to try this limited color palette too. Looks fun!
I don't know when my hobby shifted so much from painting to PAINTS but I don't even see colours anymore, I just see pigments... I saw the thumbnail and immediately went "PO73 and PB28, nice"... and the other day I saw a bird on TV and was like "ohhh his feathers are PB15:3 and PR255, I love it!"... I think I have a problem sjdjskfjjs
Hi👋 I just started following you! I have been using acrylic paint for most of my art, and found you while looking for watercolour videos. You're videos have been so helpful and educational for me, as well as relatable. I understand you both verbally and non-verbally through your work. I just wanted to let you know I admire and appreciate your work 😊
Nickel azo yellow and quinacridone violet (pv19 or quinacridone lilac from white nights is what I use) make some very interesting combinations. They mix glowing, weird brownish colors. Really interesting. Also, these two colors are wonderful together. I hope to use my white nights watercolors more often
omg im going to LOVE this series!! i did around four paintings of a building (the jfk library) with just an orange and a blue watercolor paint - the range you can get from just two shades is so gorgeous!!! i love it
Purple, green, and if you have it, gold. I think it could end up being so pretty and I'd love to see what concepts you'd come up with for them. I love your content, and I hope you keep up the great work ❤
Magenta and a deep, cool forest green!! They look so pretty together but i never know how to make them work the way i want to. Would be excited to see what you could do with them! Love how soothing your vids are, and its rad that tori’s doing it too!! 💕
yellow ochre and payne's gray are some of my favorite paints to use together, it might be a bit of a challenge though as they are very removed from the primaries
Great duo, I wouldn't have thought 2 fairly opaque colors would look so luminous. I like to mix DS Cerulean Chromium or (WN Cerulean) with DS Quinacridone Sienna for a soft grey, so will try to use them more extensively and really stretch the boundaries of a two color palette. Looking forward to more color adventures.
!! Thank you so much Arleebean for this tip about removing the tape with a heat tool! It’s really frustrating to complete a beautiful piece and try to take off the tape and tear the paper. Super helpful! Thanks!!
I really love this series of using only two colors! This has inspired to pull out my paints (when I should be Christmas shopping and paying bills...) I really needed something to get me out of a rut, and this is it. Cheers!
I cant remember if I told you or not, but my sister and I are dying for an eventual Skillshare class from you on lips/mouths. The first time I watched this video I had company over and was only really watching rather than listening, so I thought it was interesting you spoke about that during the second painting!
After a long day at work dealing with a million annoying customers asking me where their order is, your voice and video's are so soothing. Really loved seeing how just 2 colors can be enough for a great piece ♥
What an amazing colour combination. And gorgeous pieces. I love them both! The second one is super unique and the highlights on the lips actually look good. Some colour combinations I love: • Quin gold + perylene violet • Indanthrene blue + perylene green + perylene violet • Gamboge + dioxacine violet • Perylene green + vermillon (Sennelier) • English red + indigo • Caput mortuum + phthalo greem
I would love to see a limited palette video with Payne's Grey and maybe some kind of creamy yellow! Like yellow ochre? And maybe an added accent of Carmine? Those are essentially my three fave colors ever!! Loved both pieces you did with this palette, especially love the expression on the first one
One of my favorite color palettes - rich green gold PY 129( the more deep yellowy kind like from daniel smith) phthalo turquoise, then quin coral and/or quin magenta
aahh I was so excited to see you teasing for this on instagram! you and Tori are my favorite art youtube channels so this collab is such a cool thing! I love the idea of this series and I'm looking forward to seeing what color combinations you end up making art with 💞
I really like the idea of a dual color limited palette and I really enjoyed the painting and I feel it turned well overall I will add that there are a few places on the painting that feel forced and overworked like on the neck an eye nearest to your painting hand? It was very harmonious too not just color wise but line work and composition wise as well
a redish orange and turquoise are one of my fav color combos, yet i rarely ever use them in a painting T-T, i do use them in nearly all my sims house builds tho lol
Something with the Pēbēo watercolors (Alizarine Crimson and Primary Phthalocyanine Blue specifically) those two are so ughhh nice together, they make a pretty little almost neutral purple and they pair with the Burnt Sienna and the Burnt Umber very nicely. I honestly recommend getting the 12 set of tubes
Amazing work, Arleesha! Love both artworks! You just inspired me to play with these colors more. Didn't care so much about Cerulean blue before. Your color mixes are simply beautiful!
I have done something like this before and it’s so fun, it shows that having a limited amount of resources in art can still produce a beautiful piece. I’m definitely going to enjoy watching the series.
I love the second one, such an excellent concept :D I also love exploring limited palettes (And have even been thinking of doing this for my patreon). One of my favorite duos is perylene green and quin magenta (PR122). They neutralise each other perfectly and makes a black, with lots of gorgeous purples in between.
Love the second piece particularly, the vibrancy of colour makes it seem so luminescent! Watching your journey feels like slowly giving myself permission to create freely, without judgement.
I love this new series I'm obsessed with anything color 😍 I especially like that this is not a primary based limited pallet, because they can get very samey .... I actually have private project based on huevember where I experiment with a limited pallet and the cobalt teal plus pyroll red is so nice ( very similar to cerual plus cad red) Some of my favorite combinations are diox purple+viridian , yellow ochre + bordauxe (or quin violet) and cad orange / transp orange + white nights dark green ( I think pg8?) I love when one is transparent and the other opaque or granulating you get so interesting effects 😍 Oh and I actually really like the second painting! Little creepy
Ohhh and!!! That series would actually really nicely fit as as a collab series where eg Denise picks 2 colors and so because Tori and you together was fun so maybe there can be more 😄😄 wow I'm really hyped now for future episodes of this I'm excited for what's next
I got the mijello pure pigment set as my first professional paints and I'm so in love!!! They are so pigmented and vibrant so a little go a long way. Colours made using them are so clean as you said. I can't wait to try this colour combo in one of my paintings ^-^
I'm so glad I found your channel, I love the way you speak, your art and your calmness. You really inspire me to do better and not get upset and put off when I mess up or make something I'm unsatisfied with. Thank you for sharing your talent and thought processes with us
I really enjoyed this video and will be off to see Tori's in just a sec! It's wonderful that you are both collaborating, and I am a huge fan of limited palette videos! For color combos, I never see anyone doing paintings with purple and yellow. From my own experience they are the complimentary colors that generally make the least pleasant neutrals, but I found recently that I really like the look of Sennelier's Red Violet (PV16) mixed with Nickel Titanate Yellow by Daniel Smith (PY53). Red Violet is hard to use in mass tone because it has a lot of binder, but the granulation is lovely when you dilute it. You may not be able to get a wide range of values, but I think any piece made with this palette would have a very cheery feel to it :)
Oh my gods I've only just recently found you and your art is beautiful. The way you mix colours and how it's realistic but not quite is something I really want to try and seeing it done so satisfyingly is inspiring. I'd love to see a yellow and green combination. 💛💚
Thank you so much for your videos! I'm trying to learn how to watercolor so they are really helpful to me. I followed you on Skillshare and went ahead and subscribed to you on your Patreon. Looking forward to learning!
thankyou for giving us such a cool vid, you and tori are so talented!! i would really like to see a yellow and purple combination, i wonder if that would be a bit of a challenge. I literally screamed in the middle of my theatre class when I saw that you uploaded lolll
I wonder what type of brand do you use to make your unique handmade watercolors, please if you can tell me I would be very helpful have a great Christmas!🎄
I think I prefer the first piece but the focus of the second one looks super fun. I think it'd be really fun to try to do a two colour piece with purple and like a virdian green. I've noticed for years that green and purple make some absolutely stunning greys and neutral tones and I'd love to see a skilled hand take a crack at it.
I love to use ocher yellow, light cadmium red, black ivory, and titanium white in oils. It woud be interestinf to see you using ocher yellow, light cadmium red, black ivory in watercolorr, the specter of color you get with those 3 is huge with that black being so cold.
I already love this series! I used cerulean with oxide purple which gives the same neutralizing but a bit darker. Also can the second piece be a dtiys?!?!
My favorite color combination has been chartreuse and royal purple since I was a child, but they can be challenging to put together; by all means try it for yourself.
aah im in LOVE with the creepiness of the second one!! honstly both of these are just incredible.... i think i wanna try joining in on the limited colour thing !
Check out Tori's video here!! Seriously, this lady has just shattered my heart into a million pieces with her kindness: th-cam.com/video/4AB_8_T3Do4/w-d-xo.html
her video was very beautiful
I hope you make prints of the second painting you did. I think it's my favorite piece of art that I have seen you makr. Very beautiful!
I’d love to see this with light pink and a pastel/minty Green
Luca K. I was thinking the same thing! Or a lilac and pastel yellow!
I was going to request that 😂 been loving pink/purple & green together lately
using only pastel colors would make a kind of flat piece but i also would really love to see other color combos for this kind of exercise!
lo l yeah I see that problem, obviously with vibrant variations of the colors for contrast:) could work I think
Oh I just saw she actually picked it and my comment was actually seen a lot :) thank you guys I only just now saw
Wowowow! I’m just, FLOORED! That was amazing! Guh, all the gorgeous shots of the coloring mixing and walking us through both painting process was a true treat! Thank you so much for including me in the fun! BIG HUGS!!!!! You’re the real mvp!
PLEEEEAAASE TRY QUINACRIDONE ROSE AND EMERALD GREEN !!!!!!! Please
They kinda neutralize each other with cool undertones
she actually did it! :D
I really appreciate that you include the paintings that you are less satisfied with. I think it shows artists that not all creations will be things you love or like. It's good for artists to see that the reality is very different than what we see on social media. If that makes sense. :>
Anyway I want to try this limited color palette too. Looks fun!
Purple and green just generally curious but probably make a good landscape
I don't know when my hobby shifted so much from painting to PAINTS but I don't even see colours anymore, I just see pigments... I think I have a problem sjdjskfjjs
That second piece is something I would be drawn to in a gallery...love it😍
My favourite go-to combo is White Nights' Claret and Indigo. They create this very beautiful dark colour I use instead of black.
Hi👋 I just started following you! I have been using acrylic paint for most of my art, and found you while looking for watercolour videos. Both pieces are truly amazing! I prefer the first one a bit more, but the second one has its merits!
I learn a lot about watercolor from your channel. This series will be a great help for me to learn mixing color with limited color.
omg im going to LOVE this series!! i did around four paintings of a building (the jfk library) with just an orange and a blue watercolor paint - the range you can get from just two shades is so gorgeous!!! i love it

yellow and gray are such an underrated pair.
limited palettes are my favorite kind of painting videos
Rose colors and perylene green mixes are my favorite

Okay. You're a new artist to me. Your faces are incredible. Love your color discussions. You're someone to learn from!
I really love this series of using only two colors! This has inspired to pull out my paints (when I should be Christmas shopping and paying bills...) I really needed something to get me out of a rut, and this is it. Cheers!
Recently I've loved 'grounding' Cerulean with Burnt Sienna, because it doesn't compromise their vibrancy.
I cant remember if I told you or not, but my sister and I are dying for an eventual Skillshare class from you on lips/mouths. The first time I watched this video I had company over and was only really watching rather than listening, so I thought it was interesting you spoke about that during the second painting!

The second drawing made me want to paint more freely with watercolors, kudos!
What an amazing colour combination. And gorgeous pieces. I love them both! The second one is super unique and the highlights on the lips actually look good.
Some colour combinations I love:
• Quin gold + perylene violet
• Indanthrene blue + perylene green + perylene violet
• Gamboge + dioxacine violet
• Perylene green + vermillon (Sennelier)
• English red + indigo
• Caput mortuum + phthalo greem
I adore Tori! She is just the sweetest person and her videos are so relaxing ^^
Though the second one is quite creepy indeed, gotta say that's probably what makes the WOW effect there, I love it
I ❤️ love ❤️ Clementine. It’s one of my favorite pieces you’ve done. So fresh and immediate but powerful and weird. Love!
This has always been one of my favorite color combinations. Grayish blue with a fiery orange ish scarlet is just wonderful together.

I really love both pieces! Also the color wheel was so cute and would make such a cute sticker!
I really like the idea of a dual color limited palette and I really enjoyed the painting and I feel it turned well overall I will add that there are a few places on the painting that feel forced and overworked like on the neck an eye nearest to your painting hand? Amazing work, Arleesha! Love both artworks! You just inspired me to play with these colors more. Didn't care so much about Cerulean blue before. Your color mixes are simply beautiful!
Yes tired faced color wheel for the win 😂
I have done something like this before and it’s so fun, it shows that having a limited amount of resources in art can still produce a beautiful piece. I’m definitely going to enjoy watching the series.
gosh I love the second piece a ton!! The gradient shadow on the neck, the harsh dark shadows overall, the concept,.. it's done so well! I love it ❤
I love the second one, such an excellent concept :D I also love exploring limited palettes (And have even been thinking of doing this for my patreon). I wish my English were better so that I could express to the fullest how I enjoy this video, the limited palette and your approach.
I'd really love to see basic black and yellow together, or maybe yellow and brown? Like a bumblebee or a sunflower!
I'm sold on the idea of 2 colour series! and also i think the second painting is my new favourite piece from you
a warm yellow and a light/dusty/pastel purple
I'm so glad I found your channel, I love the way you speak, your art and your calmness. You really inspire me to do better and not get upset and put off when I mess up or make something I'm unsatisfied with. Thank you for sharing your talent and thought processes with us

This is my favorite painting by you! It’s so different from your others I just love it💗💖💕💞
Hooray! Arlee+Tori art babies! Mazel tov, you two crazy kids. =>.
My favorite color is bright opera 🤩. The mijello one is very pretty, maybe in a future video you can do a color combo containing opera.
thankyou for giving us such a cool vid, you and tori are so talented!! i would really like to see a yellow and purple combination, i wonder if that would be a bit of a challenge. I literally screamed in the middle of my theatre class when I saw that you uploaded lolll
Love both of these! For sure that second one is me on a Monday morning (especially today). Seriously inspired by your work!! Can't wait to see more.
wow that second painting 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I love the atmosphere of your second painting, and I’m happy to see you revisit your Paul Rubens!! Loved the video :)
I loved the first guy! And each stage of it was beautiful! Those eyes! 😍😍😍I didn’t even start second part!
Fantastic idea and great video! I've just discovered the joys of Prussian Green and Quinacridone Magenta paired together. They're stellar!
Love the creepy look to this one with the eyes! And both videos were great
I love this idea! Can't wait to see more of these videos. Also, absolutely in awe of your talent.
I'm so excited for this series!
It’s interesting seeing what you can do with just two colours..love both of thes ..Hers was fabulous too 😀
I wonder what type of brand do you use to make your unique handmade watercolors, please if you can tell me I would be very

I absolutely love the second piece! I would love to see a warm purple and gold!
Love love love the 2nd one so much.
Another excellent video with TWO great paintings! The second one reminds me of some of Gerald Brom's work.

I already love this series! I used cerulean with oxide purple which gives the same neutralizing but a bit darker. Also can the second piece be a dtiys?!?!

This video is awesome!!!
As always !
And I would like to see you painting with payne s grey and madder lake deep!!!
You should try a neon green and earthy purple.
I LOVE the second painting! Unsettling, yes, but with a strange, austere beauty. I’d hang that in my house.
tbh , i want a huge painting w the second pic on my wall! its absolutely incredible
