I distinctly remember being super young and being like "oh pink and green are really pretty together" and im so thrilled to see that demonstrated so beautifully here.
This pairing, PV19 and PG7, is my absolute favorite neutral tint. MGraham sells it in a tube and I've found myself mixing my own together at home to have on hand. While I agree that I don't like red and green together in their pure forms, these purples and teals give me life. As for the purple-yellow combos, I love manganese purple with a soft earth yellow like PY43, PY42, or PY53 and dioxazine violet with PY65 or other new gambogey type of hue. Can't wait to see that one!
How genuinly happy you sound when you talk about colors makes me so happy too, to just see someone so truly happy for something we all take for granted. Thanks.
I feel like David Bowie is your muse because so many of your paintings evoke his face shape. Similar with Tilda Swinton. Anyways, your work always reminds me of David Bowie circa 1980’s, while the recent painting evoked his last music video _Lazarus._ I don’t know if this is intentional... but I suspect it might be.
Nora Donnelly Face shape, hair, heterochromia, eye shape, nose... reference drawing... red light specifically casted over one eye to allude to Ziggy Stardust - in this painting particularly and the last, if it isn’t directly inspired by Bowie then it is super subconsciously or eerily coincidence. But, hey, man - I ain’t complaining. Bowie is a very beautiful, unique man whom is a wealth of inspiration.
Phthalo Green and Quin. Rose are probably my top favorite complementary color combo. They neutralize each other so prettily. This piece really showcases the beauty of those two colors. The sliver of white gives a nice contrast too. Gorgeous work, Arleesha! 💜
I love this combination so much! I never would have guessed you could make such lovely purples with green and red. I also love this painting. The blotch of purple on the right side of his face reminds me of the blight in breath of the wild. As if evil is oozing out of him
I wish you weren't so down on yourself there at the end. You've accomplished a great deal because of persistence and dedication. It's not a fluke. It's not luck. It was work. And while no one wants to watch someone gloat--and I don't even think you're capable of that--humble bragging is totally okay. You're showing us what we can aspire to if we put in the work. Don't downplay that! It's been fascinating watching your vision come to fruition over the course of this channel's lifespan. Good work. I can't wait to see what you do next.
Pyrrol red and pthalo turquoise are also great complementary colours make a great neutral grey to yummy desaturated purples that I like to use to shade skin. If you switch pyrrol red with perylene maroon you get some great natural browns and mossy green, loved using the browns for deep skin. Did a whole limited color piece myself recently with perylene maroon and pthalo turquoise from Holbein and it was a lot of fun!
For yellow and violet, i REALLY love working with naples yellow and a carbazole based violet. It's really great for making skintones and often gives me the eerie feeling I seek in my art.
He look so serious but you have painted him beautifully...The two colours actually work so well together and complement each other completely..Looking forward to the next one..I was just going to suggest Purple and Yellow and you said it..I think these colours are just wonderful together ,soo looking forward to that 😀
woooow! I did not realise how many gorgeous colours mixing these two would make! the deep purple/blues are stunning. You also make this challenge seem so easy, when its actually so much harder than it seems! credits to you :)
Absolutely looove this piece!!! Strong David Bowie vibes too, not sure if it's the light across the eye, or the colors, or the face itself, or just a combination of all of that! Really awesome painting
I never knew red and green could make such pretty colors together. This is stunning! I have to suggest though for the yellow and purple a quin gold with either rose of ultramarine or a quin violet. I like the warm moody burgundies they make and rose of ultramarine introduces such interesting granulation. Can't wait to see what you do!
It's been said before but the painting for some reason reminds me of David Bowie. It's very whimsical and one of my favourite pieces from you. I like these purple/yellow pairings: • Perylene violet + quin gold • Dioxacine violet + gamboge
I simply want to cry because that piece was so soothing to watch and by the lord, your art is kinda of my goals when it comes to painting, sketching and the whole creative process. Just to be able to watch your paintings makes me feel somehow grateful and inspired to produce, and I'm really thankful for that. Also, sorry if my english is a bit wonky, it's not my first language asjfnsdgndsjghbf
Love the demo! As to copying, almost everything we do is learned by copying...speaking, walking, sports, musical instruments. I discovered years ago that copying other artists always ends up being "my interpretation" more than a copy. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Being able to see influences from your faves in that way is always such a nice achievement! I'm really hoping to take some steps forward in my artwork soon. Thank you so much for sharing this 💖 can't wait to see the puple/yellow you choose!
An influence from my faves that I noticed in my own work: I've started doing thumbnail sketches again :^)!!!! So useful, really helps me think through my design instead of relying on the tried-and-true methods my artist autopilot reaches for
the subject reminds me of if David Bowie and Matt Smith had a lovechild. I love this color combo you used. Truly inspiring! I haven't painted in months. Time to pick up my brushes again!
I don’t know if these are purple and yellow enough but I love the combo of Quinn gold and ultramarine rose and would love to see you try that out! Love 👏🏻 this 👏🏻 series! 👏🏻
Yellow ochre and a granulating purple like cobalt or manganese violet would be pretty. This suggestion is entirely fueled by how much I love those two colors.
i literally just got done doing a limited palette challenge haha!! it was super fun and im happy with the end result, plus i've been super stressed out with school so it was therapeutic as well. thank you for inspiring me to leave my comfort zone and try new things 💞
Very cool! Dioxazine Violet and Quin Gold neutralizes to some warm brown tones, could evoke fall depending on the strength of your washes. Can't wait to see your next vid!
Absolutely love this piece. I believe Denise introduced me to this pairing when I first started my watercolor journey and I was looking at art TH-cam channels. I have loved it ever since and loved it again in your piece. Glad you liked it as well
you art always blows me away...its so loose and "looks easy" you know, in a really fascinating way!! when i do watercolor stuff, it always ends up being pretty stiff and not as expressive as id like it to be, but hopefully watching more of your stuff can help me making more "out there" pieces!
I would love to see a cool color and a warm pairing, like say a deep turquoise blue and a medium ish sable brown. Though I don't think you could get many shades with those 2 combined....
I love this painting! Both the colors and the pose and the vulnerability in the expression. Its amazing. I'm about to go on my winter break and cannot wait to try my hand at doing some limited color paintings! These videos are so inspiring!
This is such a gorgeous color combination that mixes some beautiful shades! A combination I would recommend would be the Zorn palette: yellow ochre, vermillion/cad. red light, and ivory black (or any cool black). It’s great for portraiture and also mixes some surprising purples and greens 😊
If we're going by the CMY color wheel, magenta and green are opposites. So it makes sense why there's more saturation to be found, as you're mixing a true primary with a secondary color. Especially one with more cyan in the mix, and when mixed with magenta makes a more vibrant violet. And the bit of yellow neutralizes the violet. I recently started a painting primarily using these two colors and I prefer the shade of violet made with those two over the mix of red and blue
I love this pairing! Especially the cooler tones. It was my go to a few years back. Honestly, all color combinations are super neat to play with! A few years ago i would divide my sketchbooks up into color sections and only use the complimentary colors in them so i got a lot of practice with finding good matches
Yellow ochre with phtalo blue (red shade) would be a great experiment :) I'm really surprised by the mix of the 2 colors in this video. I want to try it myself because it looks so surreal! Thank you for this video 😊🌟
I'm actually so mesmerised by the range of beautiful hues that you can achieve from the pv19 and pg7 combination. This really inspires me to actually try painting with this pairing. Love this series :D
Beautiful : ) I love the blues you can mix with these two pigments. If you are doing purple and yellow, try Red Violet from Sennelier and Nickel Titanate Yellow from Daniel Smith; a warm granulating purple and a cool pale yellow with a bit of opacity.
I've been on this channel for years now and I'm so proud of you and how much you've grown. You're such an inspiration to me and I hope one day I can become as good at watercolors as you are. I'm glad I have a channel to come to when I'm discouraged it's a reminder that I'll get there one day. Thanks to you❤️
Love this painting! The hair treatment is especially lovely, and the expressive mouth is wonderful. Thank you for continuing this series - I look forward to more 2-color pairings. Cheers!
Love the limited palette videos! Hope you could make another one early January 😌❤️ don't strain yourself tho. But I love working with limited palettes too❤️👌😏
I havent taken the time to watch this until now but Im so happy to hear that you are proud of this piece! I saw it first on Instagram and was astounded. It just looks like something you would paint.... like if i was to show someone one piece to describe ur style by, this is the piece. Amazing work. Cant wait to see more!
That colour combination was so pretty! I think when we first think of broad colour combination, like red and green in this case, we think of them in their pure saturated forms, which isn't always pleasant. However, if you vary the shade within that range you can find really nice combination like you just did!
I want to see you use nickel azo yellow and diox violet/purple. It’s a combination that I find really interesting because it can mix a really deep brownish color and they mute each other really well. And I just love these to colors on their own and I think it would be a great challenge
I love this color combination so much! And the white around the eye is giving me David Bowie vibes
Joseph Wilkins yes! Also his facial structure.
I distinctly remember being super young and being like "oh pink and green are really pretty together" and im so thrilled to see that demonstrated so beautifully here.
I used to think so too.
Same! It's cause red and green are opposite on the colour so the make each other pop! ;)
i think this is the cutest thing i've ever read in a while
I wonder how much about our color preferences is taught. Like matching colours, or copied from someone we admire and we subconsciously or not copy it.
a brightish "sunny" type of yellow with a more pastel/soft lilac ??? idk i think that would be cute
This pairing, PV19 and PG7, is my absolute favorite neutral tint. MGraham sells it in a tube and I've found myself mixing my own together at home to have on hand. While I agree that I don't like red and green together in their pure forms, these purples and teals give me life.

I find myself watching this video every time I get stressed. Thanks for making my comfort video

Anyways, your work always reminds me of David Bowie circa 1980’s, while the recent painting evoked his last music video _Lazarus._ I don’t know if this is intentional... but I suspect it might be.
Sour Eggz I’ve noticed that too I especially think it’s because of those super defined jawlines
@@SourEggz Bowie didn't have Heterochormia. His pupil was permanently dialated
Mikie llama Oh sorry, he had anisocoria that gave the appearance of heterochromia. Thank you for the comment.
I'd love to see a painting done in rich plum and warm, bright yellow. It'd be so regal!
What a beautiful gradient of colors!!! Thanks for sharing.
Honestly I really love a purple and yellow combo. It’s really nice. I think a really light purple with a warm yellow is my favorite of the pairing
Very original. And very striking. It taught me a lot
As if evil is oozing out of him
I keep coming back to this video. It never fails to inspire me, and I have to say that this is one of my all-time favorite pieces of yours!
Wow Beautiful Painting! And I would have never combined those two colors. What a beautiful range they had!
Literally my favourite piece I’ve ever seen of yours!!
Really lovely colour combination and painting! Great video!
I wish you weren't so down on yourself there at the end. You've accomplished a great deal because of persistence and dedication. It's not a fluke. It's not luck. It was work. this piece weirdly really resonates with me. its beautiful

I love using these colors! They were my go to for a while because darling they have the range
For yellow and violet, i REALLY love working with naples yellow and a carbazole based violet. It's really great for making skintones and often gives me the eerie feeling I seek in my art.

Your becoming your favorite artist 😍 That’s such an exciting feeling.
Please make this series super long 💗💕 this color combos are so fantastic especially for beginners
This is stunningly beautiful! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I vote yellow and purple next.
This is one of my favourites of your work. Beautiful!
I absolutely love this series! Thank you!
Absolutely looove this piece!!! Strong David Bowie vibes too, not sure if it's the light across the eye, or the colors, or the face itself, or just a combination of all of that! Really awesome painting
This combination is so gorgeous.
Plisssssss continue this series!!! I love it soooo much💜💜
I never knew red and green could make such pretty colors together. This is stunning!

I absolutely love this one! ❤ My fav at all!!!!
when you did half the splatters viridian and the other half rose i got so excited no joke. i love this combo and i love this piece
This piece really inspires me so much! My favourite at all!!! It makes me wanna try something with limited palette too!
It's been said before but the painting for some reason reminds me of David Bowie. It's very whimsical and one of my favourite pieces from you.

Watching those dark values splash in is divine!
Dark blue and soft or earthy yellow look nice together :))
O my God. This combination of colours is beautiful! And your piece... the stroke of light, it's just mesmerizing
You are not just creating beautiful art but also filmographic masterpieces. I love it
Yellow ochre and a granulating purple like cobalt or manganese violet would be pretty. This suggestion is entirely fueled by how much I love those two colors.

indian red + indigo is one of my favorite combinations
I would love to see a cool color and a warm pairing, like say a deep turquoise blue and a medium ish sable brown. Though I don't think you could get many shades with those 2 combined....
I see all your growth. Beautiful piece
I've been using a warm red and warm green lately, they mix beautiful bright browns. I never realised that cooler colours made such pretty purples!
I love this painting! Both the colors and the pose and the vulnerability in the expression. Its amazing. I'm about to go on my winter break and cannot wait to try my hand at doing some limited color paintings! These videos are so inspiring!
This is absolutely gorgeous, my god
Sunflower yellow and a really warm toned kind of reddish purple

I'd love a yellow and blue. A happy and sad colour.

Thank you for another great video😊💜❤️💖 the artwork was absolutely beautiful
The music made this even better!
I love this piece also! It's really strong.
Omg I love this painting
Don't mind me, just liking & commenting before even watching 😂🥰
Nostalgia saaaame
My fav neutral combination is an ultramarine (for granulation) and a reddish brown like Venetian red. I would love to see this!

you've gotten so much better with face anatomy! like you've been a pro artist for years and you still make progress! it's so inspiring honestly
you've been picking my favorite combinations!!! the complimentary color limited palette is just so beautiful
This background music is so fitting and emotional! I love It!
This is one of my favorite colors combination! Thank you for this lovely demonstration, you are a true inspiration!
Absolutely loved that!! .. Thankyou so much 💞.. Great result also 😍..
Your videos are always so incredibly relaxing

You and JMR Art are probably some of my favourite wet medium artists!
That porcelain pallet is really cool
I love this painting , it’s so beautiful and for some reason it reminds me of rainy days and makes me feel so cozy
