Ekko's arc was absolutely the saddest and most tragic of all characters. Zapped to a perfect dimension where the world was ideal, but still willed his way back to his own reality because he was so selfless and wanted to do right by his people, even if it meant his own happiness. Truly the greatest hero of the series.

Before this episode, Ekko had completely given up on Powder, truly believing that only Jinx remained. However, witnessing this alternate reality reignited his hope and determination to help his Powder return from her state as Jinx. In the alternate reality, Powder lives a peaceful and fulfilling life, but Ekko recognizes the incredible genius she possesses. He encourages her to embrace her creativity while feeling a strong urge to return to his own reality and help his Powder. And he does exactly that. In the end helped both reality Powders to better themselves. Jinx, on the other hand, had convinced herself that there was no "good" version of her, but Ekko’s experience proves otherwise. He guides her to realize that her identity isn’t as black and white as she believed. It’s a bit unfortunate we didn’t get to see more of Ekko bonding with Jinx and preparing for the final showdown during the battle of Piltover. I also believe that Ekko succeeded in bringing Powder back. There’s a significant parallel: Powder metaphorically ‘drowned’ with Silco’s influence, leaving only Jinx behind. However, in the final episode, Jinx’s sacrifice suggests that Powder is revived. This idea is reinforced by multiple parallels between the first and last episodes. For example, in the first episode, Powder mentions that one day she’ll ride a zeppelin. In the final episode, we see a zeppelin leaving, flying in the same way it did in the beginning. This symmetry suggests that Powder survived and, in a way, fulfilled her earlier words.
I was upset Ekko did all that and successfully saved Jinx from killing herself only for Jinx to later sacrifice herself because Vi couldn't let her dad go. Now her sister is dead too. Good one Vi.
I can’t begin to explain the level of sadness I got watching this scene for even the first time. I knew Ekko would go back, and I wished so much that the Jinx we know could have had this sort of life. I feel like part of me waited every episode since S1E3 for Powder to come back, and only getting a taste of it before losing it was so depressing

Just by looking at Ekko's eyes, I felt his disbelief, sorrow, and gratitude throughout this episode especially in this moment. The way arcane animated conflicting powerful emotions in all of its characters is truly unforgettable.
I've so rarely seen love depicted so well on tv before. The searching eyes, the pull, the tentativeness, it's all so sweet and nicely done. Truly feels like young love

But AI use in animation and all of its various styles of animation will be extremely limited. The most common use case will be to use them to generate out of focus background characters walking, etc. But animation is such an iterative process, where directors can complain even about the movement of a pinky finger, that AI has no use in most large scale production even if it does improve. You simply dont have absolute control over every minute detail like you do when making it by hand. And correcting AI image generation by hand could by extremely tedious.

The shot at 0:11 seems like a callback to S1E4 when the firelights attack Silco's airship. In the original timeline, that's when we (and possibly also Ekko) first see adult Jinx, we get a shot of her boots as she's treading across a smoky deck. Here in this timeline, it's again her boots as she's moving across a smoky dancefloor.
That and also the animation dropping to 4 frames per second during their dance, which is the same as ekko and jinx's fight in season 1 episode 7. Their dance of death in s1e7 was 4 fps, their dance of life in s2e7 was also 4 fps. Fortiche (the animation studio) has an amazing eye for detail, and sometimes it leaves us feeling very melancholy.

What is also important to remember is that Our Ekko was inside of this timeline's Ekko's body. Ekko might have sacrificed his own happiness but he also gave this Ekko his life back when he left. And he gave Powder the push she actually needed to shine and become a true scientist. Ekko wasn't as much sacrificing something he could have as much as he was giving these versions of Ekko and Pow-Pow a nudge to live up to their utmost potential. Ekko saved them too. He saved EVERYBODY.

Ekko (the guy) was transported to a parallel dimension where he is in a relationship with Powder (the girl). In his original dimension, she is an insane, unhappy person who destroys everything around her due to trauma throughout her life. Right after this dance, he has to return to his original dimension and leave this version of her behind.
How much this scene impacted me is something incredible, an experience that I had never had in my life with any TV series, let alone an animated one. Ekko literally left behind a reality where everything was as he had dreamed it to return to his people and save the town, but with a Jinx who could no longer return to being Powder, as the one who was with him in that reality.
This scene is so blissfully beautiful and sad... but i just cant help but keep watching again and again, like i just wanna stuck in this blissful experience of a reality where they can be happy like this always... but also, it is the melancholy of ekko's main timeline reality that makes this scene even more cherished and prescious

Funny story: My girl introduced me to Arcane, I knew nothing about LoL or the show but I got obsessed immediately, she already watched first season before we knew each other, so she rewatched it with me and discovered season 2 together. When this scene came in we freaked out because Powder and Ekko look like our respective ex's and it felt so weird seeing them dance together, we were like "Yeah this is definitely another dimension" Lmao
I feel like people got it wrong. I feel like both these and all parallel universes exist. Although Ekko was welcomed and could live this life since he went through a lot, he knew the original universe would be helped a lot by him. I also believe this universe is just as true as the originally one and Powder and Jinx both exist with equal truth. So, I don’t see this scene as sad because of what could be, but that Ekko could get a glimpse that a better world does exist and he is kind and smart in both. It’s not sad what could’ve been, rather they both exist, he just needed to know that.
As someone who didn’t really play LoL much ever (apart from TFT), Arcane has done the best job of any video game show of giving the deepest most fulfilling lore. I can’t wait till Noxus comes out!!

Im such a big fan of Pomme and to a lesser extent Stromae and so not only seeing a collaboration between them but also for one of my favourite shows, it is amazing.
It breaks you even more to know that the dance happens at 4 FPS, 4 being the number of seconds Ekko can rewind. He never wants to let that moment go, but he gives it all up to get back to his own universe.
Arcane, something I never thought they would create.. I swear, I will have seen the TV series ten times, among other things the most expensive and demanding series ever! More than 250 million dollars! But they created something that will go down in history! Ah this scene always makes me cry, like many other scenes; Vander who gets up despite having a wall on his back after seeing his children.....a continuum of emotions, strong, intense and true... I love Arcane, I hope whoever created this immense masterpiece continues with perhaps spin offs of some characters! Like Medarda Mel and the feud with the Black Raa.. or Vi herself... This episode about alternative universe was so light and inspiring, as was this version of Powder, which didn't fall to the dark side. It will be great to see at least one more episode about this alternative Piltover - about Ekko, Powder, Wander and others in future.
For everyone saying that Ekko left heaven and went back to hell. I don't think that's necessarily how he truly felt. Yes he did find the jinx that he loved that wasn't crazy and n psychotic in this parallel universe. But he also did originally grow up in his own home universe and I think if we (in the right mind) were in the same situation there would definitely be something off about deciding to stay in another universe that's not where we originally came from. And given that Ekko was hell bent on getting back to his home verse, It can be assumed that hi's priority in doing so held higher than his desire to stay in this parallel universe. Think of it as somebody who went on vacation and met this amazing person And they were perfect for each other that they hung out for one unforgettable night but obviously things couldn't work out because of the distance. Due to the location of each of their corresponding homes, they end up parting ways.
I like your vacation analogy. It may be easy for things to seem perfect and amazing when we only get to experience them for a short time. But no life is a fairytale and deep inside we know the magical feeling wouldn't last even if we were somehow able to stay. And of course you are right - one can't be happy in an AU having to lie to everyone and pretend to be someone else. Because someone who looks like you, but had a totally different life is NOT you and all their friends & family love that other person, whom they had shared experiences with, which you didn't have. Same as they didn't have shared experiences with REAL you, and thus can't truly relate to you.

Funny story: My girl introduced me to Arcane, I knew nothing about LoL or the show but I got obsessed immediately, she already watched first season before we knew each other, so she rewatched it with me and discovered season 2 together. When this scene came in we freaked out because Powder and Ekko look like our respective ex's and it felt so weird seeing them dance together, we were like "Yeah this is definitely another dimension" Lmao

I feel like people got it wrong. I feel like both these and all parallel universes exist. Although Ekko was welcomed and could live this life since he went through a lot, he knew the original universe would be helped a lot by him. I also believe this universe is just as true as the originally one and Powder and Jinx both exist with equal truth. So, I don’t see this scene as sad because of what could be, but that Ekko could get a glimpse that a better world does exist and he is kind and smart in both. It’s not sad what could’ve been, rather they both exist, he just needed to know that.
The most mature and responsible character in Arcane.
As someone who didn’t really play LoL much ever (apart from TFT), Arcane has done the best job of any video game show of giving the deepest most fulfilling lore. I can’t wait till Noxus comes out!!
Bro Found the perfect dimension where everything was perfect. But chose to leave it all behind. Absolute masterpiece character. Every time i see this it brings some sadness that cant be turned into words.
Im such a big fan of Pomme and to a lesser extent Stromae and so not only seeing a collaboration between them but also for one of my favourite shows, it is amazing.
The music is so ethereal with the overlapping faded voices. These two meeting each other, lost in time.
It breaks you even more to know that the dance happens at 4 FPS, 4 being the number of seconds Ekko can rewind. He never wants to let that moment go, but he gives it all up to get back to his own universe.

I love Arcane, I hope whoever created this immense masterpiece continues with perhaps spin offs of some characters! Like Medarda Mel and the feud with the Black Raa.. or Vi herself... Poweder and not jinx... Poweder a beautiful character!.

This episode about alternative universe was so light and inspiring, as was this version of Powder, which didn't fall to the dark side. It will be great to see at least one more episode about this alternative Piltover - about Ekko, Powder, Wander and others in future.

I feel same what Ekko's feeling. So sad that can't even incarnate what we really want. At least we have what we want in parallel universe.😔
For everyone saying that Ekko left heaven and went back to hell. I don't think that's necessarily how he truly felt. Yes he did find the jinx that he loved that wasn't crazy and n psychotic in this parallel universe. But he also did originally grow up in his own home universe and I think if we (in the right mind) were in the same situation there would definitely be something off about deciding to stay in another universe that's not where we originally came from. And given that Ekko was hell bent on getting back to his home verse, It can be assumed that hi's priority in doing so held higher than his desire to stay in this parallel universe. Think of it as somebody who went on vacation and met this amazing person And they were perfect for each other that they hung out for one unforgettable night but obviously things couldn't work out because of the distance. Due to the location of each of their corresponding homes, they end up parting ways.
I like your vacation analogy. It may be easy for things to seem perfect and amazing when we only get to experience them for a short time. But no life is a fairytale and deep inside we know the magical feeling wouldn't last even if we were somehow able to stay.
And of course you are right - one can't be happy in an AU having to lie to everyone and pretend to be someone else. Because someone who looks like you, but had a totally different life is NOT you and all their friends & family love that other person, whom they had shared experiences with, which you didn't have. Same as they didn't have shared experiences with REAL you, and thus can't truly relate to you.
