Yes stats do increase and some decrease. Power sword for the example in higher levels can have increase speed and parry stats but in turn reduces cleave and block stats.
Two main reasons. 1. It's being used by an Astartes, it needs to be sturdy enough not to break. Astartes are incredibly strong even without being further enhanced by their Power Armor. 2. It needs to house the components for the Power Field generators, the Power Field being the primary source of damage in a Power Sword.
Yeah the "blade" just shapes the power field which is the actual thing that splits materials "at an atomic level" The sword shape is just because it's cool, could just be a stick lol
I love 40k for all the tiny details on all the weapons/armor! Even if you don't see it 90% of the time it adds so much personality to everything.

Power Swords don’t actually use a physical edge to cut, instead projecting a weaponized force field along its length.

Okay how do you unlock the skins for both the melee and ranged weapons I can’t figure it out
You level them up from doing operations or pvp, check the perk tree for it and you'll see each upgrade changes the appearance :D
