I work at Kizuki Ramen in Indiana and today Takuma and his team reserved our restaurant for the night. Such a genuinely humble guy. I'm sad to not have known of him until today.
I remember roaming paddock at the very last Indycar race in Milwaukee (and in 2015 he only had one victory to his name) and long after everybody else had gone off to their motorhomes, he was still outside the truck, still in full uniform, talking to some fans. Such a passionate, gracious driver... if feels good to see him having such success late in her career.
@@geewe1 wow both these wins are the most passionate and emotional reactions i've witnessed. I truly wished for Leclerc's first to be similar, but gracious was his first too.
The first time I molded grips for Taku's steering wheel, I could tell he was completely focused. Later, when he started making his own grips, I ran up and congratulated him on his daring designs...BIG heavy wings can be risky, but he absolutely NAILED IT. Listen to what he said and watch his hands at around 2:39s when he talks about FEELING the tires and car. As intense as he seemed in this clip at times, he can also be total clown and loves to laugh it up. I always enjoy seeing him at the tracks and getting caught up on his new ideas for the Human-Machine Interface...he's definitely not afraid to think outside the box, that's for sure! Brilliant filmmaking, too...thx.
My favorite thing about Sato is he breaks the traditional perception of talent not just in racing but for all walks of life. The tradition is you're most talented when you're young. It's all about finding the prodigy child, cultivating them until they peak in their mid 20s, then after ~30 the glory wears off. Sato is proving continuous improvement and experience can go toe to toe with youth and natural talent.
My favorite IndyCar driver. A fan of his since late 2006. When he won Indy 2 years ago I cried tears of joy because he got redemption and knowing what he had overcome in the last 10 years. I wish I could've met him at Sonoma last year. It's good to see he has that fire and desire to win or do the best he can.
I loved Takuma San when he was in F1 with Honda. Although I was a big time Ferrari/ Michael fan, I always had a soft spot for Tako Sato! His passion and bravery were outstanding in the aerly to mid 2000s in F1.
Of course he has. He's Honda's biggest home grown star. He's well known among racing fans in both Europe and North America. + in Japanese corporate culture, brand loyalty is very important. That's why Honda wouldn't give Alonso and Mclaren an engine this year, because he drives for Toyota now. I wouldn't be surprised if they never give him an engine again.
@Donald Pearson Uhm, no. A.J. Foyt Enterprises raced with Honda engines between 2006-2016. When Foyt decided to switch to Chevy for 2017, Honda took Sato with them.
Indycar should be producing these sort of shorts more and should get NBC to put a couple in some of their evening magazine shows. Surely enough drama there to capture interest of non fans and perhaps capture new fans
I'm also proud of him as a non Japanese :) My only wish would be that Honda didn't sell the F1 team in 2009 and Takuma nd Button raced for the Championship that year. It would have been excellent and well deserved, to both Takuma and Honda. Unfortunately the team was Brawn GP and the driver Barrichello :)
My son and I were rallying for him at Texas a few months back and he was doing great until he messed up the pit stop. Almost hurt the crew member badly .
Is he? : A: One of the best Japanese drivers of all time B: One of the best Honda drivers world wide (red bull included) C: One of the best most fearless driver the world has seen. Answer all of the above.
Because he lived in the 🇬🇧 from 1998 to learn the English language and race in British formula Vauxhall championship then 3 years of British f3 and 6 years of f1 all based in the 🇬🇧. His former managers are both British and I knew them before taku went to indy and changed to his current management.
He spent a good while of time in the UK while working his way up to F1. He pretty much dominated the British Formula 3 Championship..... winning 12 out of 13 races prior to going into Formula 1.
He is lucky that his home country has a strong automotive industry. If it hadn't be his compatriots in Toyota and Honda, he would not have had a seat in those cars in the first place.
Dirk Strickland come on. This guy has had to work so hard for his career, I’m sure. Probably a bit of luck but probably mostly sacrifice and hard work!
just hear his full story on podcast if you are really an open minded person. You will discover that this guy life is litterally a "no attack-no chance" philosophy. He has a strong bond with honda since the start, but he did a lot to earn that spot and in the end, he's really the fastest japanese driver in my humble opinion (yes even over kobayashi). So nothing given for granted here.
So.....who's watching this after his 2nd indy 500 win. Legend!
I work at Kizuki Ramen in Indiana and today Takuma and his team reserved our restaurant for the night. Such a genuinely humble guy. I'm sad to not have known of him until today.
No Attack, No Chance!! Never give up!
No f1 clips? 2007 Canadian Grand Prix vs Alonso in a mclaren will always bring me joy

He was doing this literally yesterday at Laguna Seca, had a short conversation with him, absolutely amazing guy
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...Aaaaaaaaaaaa...Aaaaaaaa..." - Takuma Sato
reminded me of ayrton sennas first win in interlagos in brasil
Trying putting some exclamation points in there.
@@geewe1 wow both these wins are the most passionate and emotional reactions i've witnessed.

Ogge now you can be happy

People in the world who love Takuma
He is our hero
I feel proud as a Japanese
Best wishes for Indy
Thank you on his behalf
Thank you

I remember this dude from his F1 days. Good to see him having success in IndyCar. Seems like a really good bloke.

Cool guy. I am a big fan of Takuma Sato.
I got goosebumps when he was yelling after his win. What a powerful moment.
I loved Takuma San when he was in F1 with Honda. Although I was a big time Ferrari/ Michael fan, I always had a soft spot for Tako Sato! His passion and bravery were outstanding in the aerly to mid 2000s in F1.
This guy is really light, he might have little success in F1, but in Indycar, he’s a man to be taken serious of, Especially on Ovals.
put him a Red Bull or Mercedes and he be the #1 driver. F1 has more to due with team money than talent alone.
Congratulations Sato - you did it again!
4:22 i don't wait for the last lap, i went 5 laps before. .... Man this guy continuing to amaze me. Go Taku GOOOO !2nd Indianapolis win in the pocket!
Love taku
An amazing person and driver. A true legend
Sato is a great guy and a great driver. I would know. I’ve met the man
No right rear problems this year. Great win Taku!
@Leopold For sure. Sato learned on his own mistakes not to way too long to try getting into the lead. He made his own luck, Dixon his own bad luck.
Thanks for the great video of Takuma Sato. You can really here his passion for racing!☺️👍
Wish you could have shown some clips from his F1 days- he's been a favorite of mine for years- good vid tho
Him and Kobayashi. 👍

He is 42 years old ! Unbelievable. No one could be 3rd place at Indy 500 in 42. He is like 22!
How about winning at 43? What a race
Mark Wspanialy Unbelievable!
Crazy how he has raced in nothing but Honda engines
@W N Well, he sure showed them at the 2004 US Grand Prix. I guess he was just destined to find his true potential in the US.

Sato has balls of steel. He's so fun to watch.
Great film. FAN since the Jordan days.
I learn a lot of important things from Mr Sato.
Go Sato!!
Indycar should be producing these sort of shorts more and should get NBC to put a couple in some of their evening magazine shows. Surely enough drama there to capture interest of non fans and perhaps capture new fans
One of my favorite drivers of all time
Great story. What a guy.

He is just so awesome.
As a fellow Japanese, I'm pround of him.
I'm also proud of him as a non Japanese :) My only wish would be that Honda didn't sell the F1 team in 2009 and Takuma nd Button raced for the Championship that year. Very good Film LOVED ITT N Great Driver that Sato is. Very Good
Takuma Sato is fricking awesome.
Very cool !!!
Does anyone know where the cello version of back home again in Indiana came from? As well as the violin pieces through the race sequence.
Great story!!
これからも、
活躍を楽しみにしてます(^O^)
Great video!!
My son and I were rallying for him at Texas a few months back and he was doing great until he messed up the pit stop. Almost hurt the crew member badly .

LEGEND!
I'm ousted , tahsuma sato, is really l indy #500 champion
2021
Muy buen documental ImI
if i was to ever have the opportunity to win that race id sound exactly the same
Anyone else here after Sato's win in the 2020 Indy 500?
I wish he returns to F1...
"The Driver is the one that drives the car" Takuma Sato, 2019. I never knew that.
Sounds like something Murray Walker would say
More deeper than ones can say at first sight.
Gambare Sato!
Who else showed up back here after seeing the second indy 500 win?
I love his British accent.
Is he? :
A: One of the best Japanese drivers of all time
B: One of the best Honda drivers world wide (red bull included)
C: One of the best most fearless driver the world has seen.
Answer all of the above.
"language couldn't come out "
Its my first time hear he speak, i feel like i'm hear british accent on him
Thats because he was with British F1 team BAR for long time, also Jordan F1 team. I believe he also race in British F3
Because he lived in the 🇬🇧 from 1998 to learn the English language and race in British formula Vauxhall championship then 3 years of British f3 and 6 years of f1 all based in the 🇬🇧. His former managers are both British and I knew them before taku went to indy and changed to his current management.
"Languages couldn't come out"
Pride of asian. Now go Albon!
Summary of story: th-cam.com/video/1ITXANCij4k/w-d-xo.html
Gambateh taku
His best year in F1 was 2004 finished 8th in the championship but was completely overshadowed by his teammate Jensen Button
Sad he has to deal with all the racism.
по ню шумахера на сузуке подцепил ..
Does anyone pick up a slight British accent?? I wonder if all his engineers are British. I knew he had a fair amount in F1.
He spent a good while of time in the UK while working his way up to F1. He pretty much dominated the British Formula 3 Championship..... winning 12 out of 13 races prior to going into Formula 1.
@@tonykartracer8032 Brilliant, thank you.
Here’s I noticed. Drivers in world championships speak English,
サムネ、大事なとこを間違ってんのよ……
This is not the takoma sato story, basically it's an interview with him
Don’t lose heart from fuckin guys criticism
Dear TH-cam,
Please don’t ever recommend Indy racing on my feed.
Yeah~ Sato is brilliant. Thanks.
I give up quick
крашер по имени такума сато

To this day there is tons of good drivers in Japan, trust me it's not easy to make it out there, they have lots of talented drivers too
Found the racist
