The wife got one in 2023 so far so good over 15 thousand km no issues
I had one rented in California earlier this month for a day, it was decent, but felt you had to rev it a little high for power, and the engine was buzzy. Love the look of them, the front is styled nice
We have a 2022 Atlas with 2 young kids and have put 110k on it already. Bottom line is - the Atlas does everything well and just gets the job done with ease - and has an amazing amount of space. Particularly excels on long family road trips. It's surprisingly good on fuel for its size. Since it's been out for 9+ years, they are pretty reliable.
For driving experience, there is none. It is underpowered and boring to drive - it feels like driving an appliance with zero emotion and connection. But it's quiet and comfortable; and the aggressive Quattro AWD system makes it exceptionally safe to drive, even in the most slippery conditions - it won't let the car get in trouble like others.
Competition wise - it's still priced well and makes sense in the segment. Even with all the offerings, we are considering just getting another one vs. any of the other 'new, exciting' competitors.
No it is not reliable. Do you see many old Altas on the road?
When it breaks, it is unrepairable. The sad part is, usually it is a small 50-cent part that needs replacement, but requires $5k of work to get it done.
@MetaView7 not true. There are hundreds of older ones on the road with high mileage, 200-300k, where i live. No shortage of parts - they've been making them for 10 years.
@@MetaView7 do you have one?
Not with a 4 banger in this one. 5,000 lbs towing with this? No way.
@iamgermane lol, your age is showing. It's a 4 cyl turbo. They are putting 4 cyl turbos in full size pickups with 10,000 lbs tow rating. 5,000 lbs is nothing.
Unfortunately we don't get the atlas here in the uk , the closest thing too it is the touareg
I like it a lot. IMO the reviewer short-changed the 3rd row seating as could have moved 2nd forward. Only a jerk would push it all the way back. My two issues with the vehicle are a temporary spare tire and small fuel tank.
Life is a cycle. The universe is a cycle.
Everything has ups and downs. Everything has a peak.
This is the Peak Moment, not only for VW, but for the Western World.
you didnt talk aboit any of the controls
If this guy does not question the long-term life of the 4-cylinder in this, he is not legit.
Still a small fuel tank
Yeah, that's a bummer
All I'm going to say is automakers are lucky 90% of people these days buy cars based on infotainment and style because this should not sell anywhere near as well as it does
Automakers conduct focus groups and market research on what is popular and what will likely sell so I’m not sure luck has much to do with it.
I can't stand adaptive cruise control. I would never even turn it on.
Did someone said (Garbago)?!?
A 4-cylinder in a full-size SUV is a no go for you and me!
Honda pilot is much better.
Agreed. Test drove both. Pilot has buttons and a smooth v6.
VW looked fine, but it was gutless.
We have the 2019 version and it's the biggest piece of shit we have ever owned and I have owned some beaters! I love tje room but at 49k with the vr6/3.6 platform the water pump went out then at 50k miles past the 72k mile vw warranty the engine burnt 4 valves and 7600 dollars later the head assembly had to be replaced. I tried to change the brakes and unless you have a expensive scanner you cannot change the rear due to the electronic ebrake it has to have a computer to be put in service mode for all you diy people out there. Now at 90k we have a noise in the suspension that sounds crunchy we can't figure out. Took it to 3 dealers and they have no clue and now the rear blend door is fucked and that a 300 part. I own a cadillac a acura and this vw and I will never own another piece of shit German product again. They are over engineered piles of shit! The parts are expensive to get and the quality is poor! If you don't like American then just buy Japanese! Save yourself the headache! Unless you have the money and time to keep taking it to the shop. Then do as you please 😂
Excellent family hauler, we've had 2, a 2019 and now a 2024. The '24 is miles better than the '19. The 2.0 blows the VR6 away.
VW's future is not good.
It’s not Dodge/Jeep, they’ll be fine.
That vehicle is horrifying lol. VW is terrible overall, and that vehicle in particular is FUGLY. 😂😂😂
